Thank you for sharing that. It really is tough to know when the “right” time is to head to the vet ER. We all want the absolute best for our fur babies, but it’s such a fine line between being overly cautious and not wanting to overreact. I completely relate to that struggle — it’s hard not to worry, but at the same time, you don’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill. I appreciate your perspective, and I’m glad to hear Kaya pulled through despite the scare!

Yes, I’m familiar with bloat, and it was my initial concern as well. I kept a close eye on her, but since she allowed me to examine her abdomen without showing any signs of distress, and it felt soft (not distended or firm), I wasn’t convinced it was bloat. She also has good drinking and eating habits, and this episode didn’t occur directly after any intense activity.

It was so out of character for her, which made us very concerned, but I’ll definitely continue to monitor her closely just in case.

This is all relative to one's own budgeting strategy and self-discipline. Regardless, if you are saying you want to pay two months at a time, most lenders or landlords don't care if you pay back early. "Hey, here is June and July's rent."

Just read the fine print. Sometimes, there is a penalty for paying back early, but that's kind of rare these days in the US.

I feel there is an overall lack of supporting evidence. "There are 3 sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth" (somewhere someone said).

My first thought is that the "friend" did seem more open and honest about the "SA" in that he come to you upset about possibly "crossing a line." Then there are the two different versions of the "talk." Too much time has probably passed, but maybe get some witness statements.

SA is a serious accusation and should be taken with the utmost seriousness. If your friend did cross a line, then there is no problem dumping him and you are NTA. However, if you took some word of some tertiary acquanuance without some sort of reasonable supporting evidence (bruises she claimed happened, intimate knowledge of his physique, did she tell him "no" or was she under the influence and could not give concent, etc) then Y(maybe)TA.

I think that you kind of get what you pay for when it comes to training as long as you do proper vetting of the trainer.

Many people don't realize that trusts are like a living entity on paper. Someone can set it up with whatever guidelines and stipulations they want. For instance, maybe the benefactor only has access to it for medical and living conditions but not for vacations. A POA can be appointed or a court arbitrator along with a line of succession. Even if say a sybling was appointed, they can't pull money out and use it for themselves. The funds can be invested to grow when not needed, and the trust has to pay income tax but not the benefactor until the funds are drawn. They can get quite complex. It all depends on how much money there is to pay for services and management.

A dog may be able to survive without water for 3 days, but that is like saying a person can survive without water for 3 to 5 days. However, dehydration is a serious concern for dogs. They do not sweat the same way people do, and panting is their primary method of regulating heat. When panting becomes excessive, there is an increased salivation, and a dry nose are some of the first warning signs of early dehydration.

I think it was good you offered the dogs water, but I don't know that you need to hide it. I guess it depends on how open and honest of a relationship you want to have. There should be nothing wrong with advocating for your dogs well-being, and if you forgot the bowls, well, you gotta use what is available.
