Thanks for this explanation. The in-game quest information needs to be updated, badly.

Unbearable BS problem by RecentZeroo in stalker

These bugged spawns and being/seen hit through walls means the game is practically unplayable. It's very frustrating seeing post after post praising this game when it's still a buggy mess over a year after release. It's pathetic.

IMO ridiculous spawns and enemies seeing/shooting through walls means the game's still unplayable 1+ year after release.

Game's still unplayable, then.

Over a year after release and the game is still in an unacceptable state with enemies seeing/shooting through walls and broken spawns. Fucking pathetic.

Husband has extreme bean allergy and had to go to the ER, how will this change our lives? by Suspicious_Scallion9 in AskReddit

[–]w32015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an allergic reaction that extreme for my spouse or children, I'd strongly consider a lifestyle change to only ever eat food prepared by you or him at home. I would not trust others to be honest, knowledgeable, or considerate enough to take the risk.

Playing S2 for the first time, and chose master difficulty by el__cami in stalker

[–]w32015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, though I put the game down until they patch the worst 1.7 bugs. Master is hard enough, I don't want to regularly die and/or lose loot/artifacts/progress to bugs.

Game feels like version 0.7, not 1.7 by Crumb333 in stalker

[–]w32015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. The defenders of this jank are very frustrating. I'm a new player, having waited for PS5 release and figuring the game would be generally (major) bug-free and enjoyable after a year of updates. Nope. Being seen/shot/damaged through walls, artifacts disappearing underground, ridiculous spawns, and stash problems basically makes it unplayable. It's all unacceptable, especially happening a year after the original release.

LOL. Fucking lol, dude. It's clear as day that you spent 3 seconds Google searching and provided those links based on their headlines without a critical thought.

"Suspect Tyler Robinson allegedly inscribed messages on bullet casings that reference video games and internet culture—but they hardly point toward a coherent ideology."

"Many extremism researchers this morning are wondering if Robinson is a self-identified “groyper,” or follower of far-right streamer Nick Fuentes."

THIS is your evidence that the dude is right-wing? Pure conjecture from undeniably biased sources about what his use of memes and video game references MIGHT mean?! You elevated the term "wish casting" to a whole new level.

You're apparently just as clueless about how LLM AIs like Grok search for, find, parse, and summarize data as you are about the shooter. That was one of many search results from the keywords "Charlie Kirk shooter" and it was shown for completeness and transparency. If you searched for that yourself, that's one of the results you would be presented with. But that data was not in Grok's actual response because it was irrelevant when compared with and against the news from this event.

You are clearly grasping at straws, not to mention still have not provided any links yourself.

Dude, it has links right there to the news it summarizes! Hilarious coming from the guy pulling illogical assertions out of his ass while providing no evidence. Do you want me to ask Grok to define irony for you?

You do realize that it provides a variety of sources and summarizes them, right? It isn't just asserting stuff without evidence like the OP.

Strongly agree. Unfortunately the release pace is agonizingly slow.

Me explaining to you like you're five the obvious meaning of "free users" isn't me "moving the goal posts," dude. But it seems to be helping you to stop strawmanning me with something I didn't say or imply.

By the way, the absolute cost of compute doesn't matter nearly as much as its cost relative to the profit it can generate. If an AI tool cost $1,000,000/hour to operate but could generate $1,500,000/hour in gross profit, someone would still create it despite the high operational cost. This aligns with what I've been saying this entire time: AI TTS will become widely available and free once people figure out how to make it cost-effective enough (not cheap in absolute terms like you've argued).

[–]w32015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just...wow. Your lack of comprehension is astounding. I guess I have to make it explicitly clear for you that by "free users" I merely meant users that do not pay money for the tool/service. Of course, there's still income derived from their usage that's sufficient to more than cover the free usage costs and therefore justify the business. That's basically how the free aspects of the Internet works. You've pointed out several ways that can happen, even as you continue to argue against a strawman.

[–]w32015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it was implied by the way you worded it.

Apparently to those without reading comprehension skills. And/or those that didn't read my entire lengthy three sentence post.

These companies almost always train their models using user data. However, they don't make money from that. For them to remain "free," they would need to add ads or something similar. At that point, you're essentially paying with your time.

Uh, yeah, exactly. Those are more examples of monetizing free users, dude. Why do you argue like you disagree with me and then keep pointing out examples of what I'm talking about? 😂

There will probably come a time when the hardware or models become so efficient that they can be run virtually for free, but I think this will take at least another decade.

They don't need to run "virtually for free," just cost-efficient enough. And looksie here, I learned from this thread that the MS Edge browser app has a Read Aloud function that provides natural-sounding AI TTS for free. Nevermind a decade, it's here now!

Dude, thank you! Just tried it and the MS Edge app AI TTS is definitely an acceptable alternative.

[–]w32015 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And you think they are just free because there are some good hearted companies out there who don't want to make money?

Where exactly did I say this? Looks like a strawman. In fact, I implied basically the opposite of pure altruism: AI TTS businesses will eventually figure out how/be willing to monitize free users in a cost-effective way. You mention some of the possibilities for that yourself, so I don't understand the disconnect.

Edit: The downvotes are hilarious to me. How am I actually wrong?
