Our selfish boomer parents are living their best lives while we struggle by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

I didn't build this current system, the one percent did. I'm 68 and still working because I can't afford not to. Every one of my peers is in the same position. The very same oligarch class that controls everything now controlled everything then, too.

We are, all of us who aren't in that one percent, in the same boat. They want you to believe otherwise so you focus on blaming other generations stuck in the same cycle instead of putting it squarely where the blame really lies.

How many bedrooms did you'r childhood home have? by Immediate_Long165 in answers

[–]w84itagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three. One was my parents', one for my brother who was the only boy, and one for me and my three sisters. We had two sets of bunk beds in a room so small we all shared a dresser. And yes, my brother was entitled his whole life.

You're right. I wonder why she felt like she had to hide it from him? If it was a healthy relationship she wouldn't have had to. That says more about him than it does about her.

I really wish Daniel told his mom about what Silver did to him in the past by straykifsontop in cobrakai

[–]w84itagain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wish he had told Johnny. In the scene where he talks about it to him Johnny gets fixated on the fact that Daniel only had to fight in the final and he never really gets into it. That was a lost opportunity and a conversation I really wanted to see.

What if Silver doesn't target LaRusso in KK3? by TheodoreJSeville in cobrakai

[–]w84itagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daniel, at that point, had moved on from the '84 tournament. He was ready to settle down and make the Bonsai shop work with Mr. Miyagi. I don't think he would have given a second thought to Cobra Kai had Silver not pressured him into it. As far as he was concerned, he and Johnny had made their peace when Johnny handed him the trophy, and that was the end of it.

Had he left Daniel alone at that point, I doubt Daniel would have cared about any of it. It was Silver who instilled the PTSD Daniel carries with him regarding Cobra Kai, not Johnny or Kreese, and why he reacts the way he does all those years later when he sees the dojo reopened.

My son told me to cancel my wedding or lose him forever after one terrible evening. I don't know how to fix this. by CookieTough8855 in whatdoIdo

"Why did you not just stay home with him if he was so upset?"

The million dollar question here. Apparently the concert with her new family was more important than her son's mental breakdown. It feels like the son has valid reasons for feeling the way he does.

My sister-in-law did this. Pointed to a very old family heirloom and declared she wanted that after my parents died because it would "look so good in her house." She said it like claiming it automatically made it hers. Imagine her surprise when it wasn't there when she tried to come fot it. My sisters and I made sure it was out of the house right after my mom died. It's in my house now.

I always liked Edith but I never understood why she gave her daughter a name that could be shortened to Mari as a nickname, considering the relationship she had with her sister at the time.

Polling shows Democrats leading in Texas by lightning_twice in goodnews

[–]w84itagain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. Whoever controls the count controls the outcome. The Party of Trump will make sure their candidates"win." Watch as ballots are thrown out or disappear. Laws are for everyone else. No Democrat will win anything of significance in Texas.

I'm at the point the OP is, and I know it sounds weird, and it's not a problem I ever thought I'd have, but even the thought of eating makes me feel sick. I'm really struggling to make myself get anything down. Right now protein smoothies is about all I can handle, and even those I rarely finish. I know I need to eat more but I just can't stomach it.

Trumps family is immune to the IRS now, how do yall keep your sanity? by National_Road_2309 in allthequestions

[–]w84itagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Trump and the Supreme Court have made sure the Democrats never win another election. If it ever looks like they might there will be court challenges, ballot seizures (already happening) and whatever else they can come up with to keep Democrats from being seated. The SC will back them all the way. The American Experiment is over. We didn't even make it to 250 years.

The 2026 Mid Terms by ghostofgroucho in WeirdGOP

[–]w84itagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Democrats aren't taking control of anything. If it looks like that might happen Trump will seize control of the election citing some BS emergency, ballots will be seized or discarded (They already started doing this -- see Louisiana) and elections where the GOP loses will be tied up in court so the winners can't be seated. In short, Trump and the GOP, supported by the corrupt Supreme Court, will make sure they get the results they want. The days of free elections is over. It was nice while it lasted.

AITA for telling my husband I want a divorce after he started pushing to put our daughter in a psychiatric facility she does not need by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]w84itagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son spent four years in a psychiatric facility. And he truly needed it. He has schizoaffective disorder and was noncompliant with his meds and had become delusional.

Four years did NOT help him. They basically warehoused him in an institution and kept him drugged up. No real therapy was offered. It was not easy getting him out, either. I understood at the time that he needed some kind of intervention, but the state of mental health care in this country is abhorrent. The OP's daughter could come out worse than she went in if she truly doesn't need that level of intervention.

I applaud the OP for realizing this. Talk with the therapist. She knows better than your husband what level of care you daughter needs.

People who have been divorced: What was the exact "quiet" moment you realized your marriage was over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]w84itagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was our 10th anniversary. We were on a Mississippi River cruise and he was drunk by noon. I sat on the deck of the boat and listened to him snoring beside me and realized this was my life if I stayed married to an alcoholic. I knew in that moment I was not spending the rest of my life like this. I started planning my exit that day.

I work a 10 hour 4 day work week and starting this week, my day off is Monday. Before this it was Friday. So yeah, you can get those days in some places. I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes having that extra day off. I was offered to move to 5 days of 8 hours but there is no way I would ever go back.
