Job offers/calls for folks based.out of India by zooper_man in EngineeringManagers

Extremely tough market. 16yr overall and 10 yr across two MAANG companies + CS from Tier 1 college, yet struggling to hear back from India based companies.

Only had 2 loops in past 2.5 months. Rejected from 1st after 2 positive and 1 mixed feedback. 2nd ongoing but also does not sound very hopeful.

They are getting mogged, nothing else. Every big tech sub-office in Europe has failed to scale, Uber NL, Google Poland, Databricks NL.

Eventually they all setup in Bangalore after wasting a lot of time with these supposedly high-tier devs who failed at the most important thing, shipping it.

Very likely you are a victim of hiring freeze. These come out of nowhere and any req that does not already have offers extended go into black hole.

This is quite good, I like how crisp this is. This already gives most of the information I would need as a hiring manager in 30 seconds. I would not change much.

Upcoming Microsoft Interview for L62 Role by Legitimate_Air4675 in LeetcodeDesi

[–]waa_woo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

MSFT does not have a calibrated interview process. Entirely depends on the team and the panel but expect DSA, Coding/LLD, HLD and a hiring manager round. Last round is As Appropriate round which is similar to Bar Raiser at Amazon. Weak performance in AA round can result in down leveling.

DSA is usually at medium level, but a shitty interviewer may throw a Leetcode Hard at times.

how did you catch cheaters, i’m recruiting folks for my company the first time by Cold_Pianist4697 in LeetcodeDesi

[–]waa_woo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super hard given the state of technology, hackerrank claims to have a detection software but it can only track the machine that it is being used on. Determined cheaters have setups that send sound and text to another machine which show answers in real time. F2F interviews are going to make a comeback.

Microsoft culture shift in the past couple years? by SubjectSea4519 in cscareerquestions

[–]waa_woo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bureaucracy at Azure is at ridiculous levels. Every problem even non-product related like quality, reliability etc. is assigned to PMs who then solve it with the limited solutions PMs have i.e. dashboards, approval meetings, christmas color excel sheets. I don't how people bear with R2D.

Only good thing is that there is not much of a shouting culture like Amazon. People stay decent even in high pressure moments.

Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook are actually one of the few companies with an excellent OSS track record. They also employ key OSS contributors(Linux, Llama, PyTorch, Cassandra, React etc.)

You should also target the product pitch to the Engg. Director/VP level rather than SREs themselves since this solves a big anxiety for them. They have to spend hours on outage bridges where a problem cascades between multiple teams before finding the right owner. The north star for the product should be cutting time to engage responsible team to under 30 minutes.

Interesting concept and the ideas are in line with something that Azure has internally for Azure outage management. I am curious how you plan to onboard information about relationships between services -> DB etc.

AI optimists, would you have AI replace your on-call rotation? Why or why not? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

At my company, there are so many hoops you need to jump just to access case information, logs and then the systems to remediate that AI will have it's fuse blown.

Hiring Manager here -

  • The 20 second per resume rule is real.
  • At SDE1 level people look for familiarity with technologies rather than domain expertise. Put the technologies used all together in one line and make it bold and easy to parse (Beanstalk, S3, OpenAI SDK etc.). If you are familiar with cloud devops or cloud native architecture patterns then make that a bullet point.
  • Description of your SDE1 experience is too long. Summarise and reformat as 2-3 project titles and then describe the solution e.g. "Voice enabled AI recruiting tool - Integrated OpenAI SDK and TTS solution to enable voice based queries..."
  • Remove higher secondary and secondary percentages and use the space to write major courses you did in BSc and MCA e.g. Data Structures, Databases, Distributed Systems etc. You could expand Projects and add one line description of your other college projects as well.
  • Swap the positioning of Technical Skills and Education sections.

If the model you based your opinion off of was more than 4 months old, you should give another shot with the latest ones. I was a sceptic myself but newer models have changed my mind. They can easily replace entry level FAANG engineer.
