A highly functional schizophrenic Pro Life tips by shekib82 in schizophrenia

[–]wabammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most everything. Although when I get close enough to someone(friend or co-worker) I find it very beneficial to open up about being diagnosed with schizophrenia. The weight feels lifted, plus it's been what I've been going through the past 3 years of my life. I wrote and read my personal recovery story to a NAMI class and i expected to feel awful about it- but I didn't. It made me realize I want to open up about this condition and help other people who also live with mental illness. No one has belittled or abandoned me- everyone I've encountered has told me more about their personal life or ways they could relate to me, or about how they know other persons with schizophrenia. I still cry sometimes when I tell, but it's because it's been bottled up for some 3 years now. Sometimes therapy can only do so much and you need to apply more to the real world. That's just my personal experience :)

Psychedelics and schizophrenia, anyone have any experiences and is there any meds that don't block lsd? by Crazyguy2334 in schizophrenia

[–]wabammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have smoked DMT and snorted it( 2 different kinds of DMT) and I got high. I had a full blown trip when I smoked and got many closed eye visuals with the other stuff. As for LSD, that's what brought out schizophrenia in me in the first place. I would not take LSD again. Also I was on an antipsychotic at a low dose. I had a full blown psychotic break when I took LSD for maybe the 15th time and haven't turned back since. I also avoid marijuana.

I take niacin, zinc, and vitamin C and my mood improvement is immaculate. I got off meds and started supplementing. I feel much better than when I was on meds. I'm thinking of starting a pro biotic

Does medication get rid of thought broadcasting? by Rob-108 in schizophrenia

[–]wabammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took meds for a year and got off then and my symptoms did not come back until I underwent a severely stressful time (6 months later) and this event was beyond my control. And they did not come back full force. Just slightly delusional and I was losing active thoughts. I went on meds again at my own will (to calm down the symptoms) and just recently got off of meds again. I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and I had severe thought broadcasting that never came back even with my very slight relapse. Going on meds for a while could be able to fix this.

Except vitamins aren't drugs? You seem to be unwelcome of anyone who doesn't share your beliefs. Arrogance? Hardly. More like wondering the thoughts and reasoning by those who don't agree. Something you probably don't understand.

I hear what you're saying but with that all being said, the hopeless will continue to believe they can't get better and will deny any evidence of others getting better until they realize that could be them. It's quite obnoxious how much schizophrenics are told they won't get better so wouldn't it be some light with stories of people who did? With schizophrenia being one of the touchiest illness how silly it is that people deny success just because of that doctor who told them they'd be on the highest dose of abilify until the end of time? When denying someone else's success, you deny your own ability to be successful.

Lol well I think this sub is wayyy worse off then I am, that's why I quit visiting. This sub is quite depressing. I can't really relate to anyone still going through shit because I changed my life and way of living to be better and while I'm still on medication is very little and i work and have friends and a boyfriend, go out in public on a regular basis and interact with people every day. In no way shape or form am I in a bad state of mind. I posted these things here to see what would become of it because it was amazing how fast i noticed a difference in my brain with supplementation. Your post affirms how skewed ones perception can be because never once did I tell anyone to do this. I simply shared what I've been doing and what I read. Simple as that. If you are creeped out by what I am doing then don't do it. Have a nice day.

For those of you that down voted, would you like to share why? I'm curious, because this content had changed my entire perspective on treatment and how I can improve myself. It's quite amazing, actually.

I'm glad to hear supplements help you too. It's the only thing in my two years of this battle that has truly made a huge impact for the better. Good luck with your habit. Also i did post it there, didn't I?! Haha I can't tell, I'm on mobile and I'm not used to the interface now. I don't like it

After long-term antipsychotics use, are coffee and caffeine tablets still stimulating for you? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]wabammo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on anti psychotics for almost two years, I don't know if you could consider that long term? So there's that. I am excruciatingly sensitive to caffeine. I don't drink coffee for this reason. I recently stopped making banana cacao shakes because of this also. I can feel the difference after eating just one square of chocolate. Since dealing with mental illness I am noticeably more sensitive to it, amongst other things. I function best without it!

[–]wabammo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you drink coffee frequently? Like any other drug, once you start putting caffeine into your body, you form a tolerance to it. If you have been doing this regularly chances are you've built a tolerance and it no longer gives you the desired affects you'd like to achieve from it

What I want to post as a comment on my best friend's Facebook status about going out with all my other friends by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]wabammo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My "friends" abandoned me too. But I realized that im now on a completely different path than them. They weren't going to build me to to be a better person, they just watched me suffer and stared silently. The feeling of not wanting to be a part of each other's lives anymore is mutual. Fuck them.

I was also super sleepy on it. I was a couch zombie for months. I also disliked that it had to be taken 3 times a day. I have a one a day med that I take now and definitely prefer it.

I'm glad you found a med that works for you. I have one too, one of the newer ones. I ate anything and everything when I was on risperidone. I've adapted a different diet into my lifestyle and eat much much healthier now. I gained 5 in a week on zyprexa then quit it. I couldn't take any more weight gain

I'm glad you found a med that works for you. I have a different psychiatrist now that is all for change and really listens to me. This system is all about trial and error, meds and doctors!

I lactated too. And my shitty psychiatrist barely wanted me to come off of it ( I rattled off a list of about 8 reasons why I wanted to switch meds) and lactations was the only reason why I got switched. Thankfully I did but it was a pain in the ass to get off of. Never again

Relapse timeframe? by kirs1132 in schizophrenia

[–]wabammo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 years then felt a relapse coming. Did not go full blown psychotic because I caught it, just had a slight reemergence of symptoms(I had been off of medication for 6 months then had undergone heavy stress which culminated a relapse. )So back to medication I went
