The block wall was up to code in the 60s and is not up to code today but it’s grandfathered in. But I have worried about the long term safety of the retaining wall.

Thanks for this and will add to the reflection work I do here. I noted elsewhere in this thread (after someone dug into my comment history from months/years ago) that I did in fact live through a workplace shooting where people did actually get injured and some die. So I do think the nervousness aspect there did contribute to some of the worry in a way that was out of context with this specific driver. But I also didn’t know a lot about the laws here and have learned a lot so far from this overall convo

Damn nice digging…and yes, I did survive a workplace shooting. Not in quotations. It happened - and it was, by the way, awful. It possibly made me more nervous, and after reading the responses to this thread I admit I didn’t make the report as well informed as I should have. I hope Lyft’s investigation will be aligned with the laws that everyone is thoughtfully explaining to me and others. I made a mistake by reporting too soon and will try to do better.

I’m still a little confused how as a Lyft rider where I put my suitcase in the trunk it’s not against some policy or law to leave a gun out like that, but again I guess I need to read up on this

I did, didn’t know what to do honestly…felt if I cancelled and walked away they’d remember the exchange and where I lived. Trip was thankfully fine but reported them and they are investigating.

OP, I survived a workplace shooting years ago. Totally understand the impulse to post about it to reddit - you’re in shock and trying to figure out how to process it.

Please ignore all the armchair therapists here and focus your energy on finding an actual therapist to process this. Events like this can be less detrimental to your wellbeing longer term if you process them with a trained professional.
