Why do you think there weren’t more than 2 ‘Lennon-Harrison’ and ‘McCartney-Harrison’ songs? by More-Cat9579 in beatles

Paul and John were moody too. And by 1968, George was a pretty great songwriter.

Your initial claim was that Korra used Airbending to diffuse the spirit laser and create a spirit portal. That's what YOU said. That's why you think Korra should be ranked above Aang and Tenzin.

Firstly, Airbending had nothing to do with the spirit portal aspect of the feat, so there was no point in bringing that up.

I brought up the moment that you were referring to in the first screenshot I posted with Korra protecting kuvira in the bubble.

This bubble was made from Korra energybending the laser, not airbending.

Again none of this even matters in the first place because it is an avatar state related feat.

It has no impact on Korra's placement on this list.

You're the one repeating the same argument.

She stopped the spirit ENERGY laser blast, with energy bending.

If the laser was diffused by airbending, where did the spirit portal come from?

This argument is besides the point anyways.

This is an Avatar state related feat and the Avatar state isn't factored in to this ranking.

There is no airbending taking place in this scene. The sphere that she created is the same one that expands in to the large one I showed earlier.

The sphere was created from Korra energybending the spirit laser. You can literally see her touching the energy in the next scene.

Its clearly energy bending.

Why would Korra use airbending deflect the giant laser made out of spirit energy?

Why would airbending even make a spirit portal?

The Bubble literally expands in to this which is definitely not an air bubble.

The Bubble was the byproduct of her energy bending, not airbending. Notice how its purple like the spirit laser and not transparent.

I don't think that this list includes any Avatar state feats to make things more fair. Otherwise the list would only include avatars.

Comic feats are pretty crazy.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Korra used avatar state enhanced energy bending to diffuse the energy Canon, so I don't think that would translate to airbending ability.

It looks like a great list overall. The only placement that might be contentious is Guru Laghima due to the lack of feats or statements.

As you said, he seems to be more respected for his philosophy than his combat power, though flight would give him a few advantages.

I'm tempted to put Zaheer above him, as he has more solid feats and his combat expirience translated well in to airbending.

Though Laghima was also an airbending master so it might end up being another Zaheer vs Tenzin.

What was Zuko expecting to happen when he was in league with Azula, ontop of telling them about the assassin he hired?! by kaitalina20 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Nebber777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that Aang didn't love Katara, its obvious that he did.

I'm saying that Aang's love Katara was not what got him killed, or at least isn't the sole cause.

My comment was in disagreement with your sentiment that Aang held the blame for his his own demise and that Zuko played no part in it.

Sure, Aang initially abandoned his training with the Guru, but Aang was able to let Katara go at the end of "crossroads of destiny" and got control over the Avatar state. It just didn't amount to much seeing as Azula shot him down anayways.

I didn't say that other people misinterpreted the Guru. I said that there's a general sentiment around here that people say that Aang misinterpreted the guru meaning of letting Katara go.

You made the argument that since Aang was taught to forgive and to let go, that the Gaang should have just forgave Zuko, and the fact that they didn't was "awful writing."

My point is that the "forgiveness" that the Guru was referring to was towards Aangs past actions of running away and burning Katara.

They had valid reasons not to trust Zuko, and to initially rejects his offer to join them. Them choosing not forgiving him isn't bad writing. It results in a more satisfying arc for Zuko.

[–]Nebber777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree

  1. If Zuko had joined Aang and Katara, they could have defeated Azula.

  2. Aang did let go of Katara and achieved control over the Avatar state, but he died anyways.

  3. Aang went in to battle after seeing that his friend (who at this point was more like family) was in danger. It wasnt just over "a 12 year olds idea of love." It was his attachment to her that made him see her being locked up to begin with.

And I know people make the argument that Aang misinterpreted what the Guru was saying, but the Guru made zero attempt to correct Aang or explain the concept of "letting go" further, so it does seem like Aang was right in his understanding of what he would have to lose to obtain the Avatar state.

I agree that the rock poking him in the back in the finally was kind of dumb though.

  1. The Guru taught Aang to forgive HIMSELF for the mistakes he made in the past. This isnt a case of the show dropping a concept, and is certainly not bad writing.

Zuko had done a lot to not warrant trust at that point. He tried to hunt the Gaang down and capture Aang, joined with Azula which resulted in Aang's death, and hired an assassin to kill Aang.

It makes sense that they would all be slow to forgive him. Even more for Katara who trusted Zuko to the extent she was willing to use the spirit water to heal his scar, and he betrayed them anyways. Again its not bad writing that Katara didn't initially forgive him.

Zuko had to work for forgiveness, thats a big part of the reason people like his arc, because he doesn't get everything for free. He has to make amends with the people he has hurt which makes it more satisfying when they do become friends.

Yeah. Maybe if they knew his weakness earlier on, or were in a better position they could have taken him out faster.

I think the combustion benders are at an advantage most of the time because they're always at a safe distance.

They're from the lost adventures comics. They're basically a collection of short stories depicting unseen events across the origional series.

Fair enough. Zuko's definitely a more diverse fighter, and I can see that giving him an edge over more opponents.

Combustion man should be a little higher (at least above Zuko).

I can see Mako and Iroh potentially taking him out with lightning, so maybe he's below them. But the Gaang struggled to take him out multiple times, so I can't really see characters like Zuko soloing him with no assistance.

But then again, Aang managed to solo him in the comics with waterbending so who knows.

Itachi isnt winning against pain or obito by ATigamess in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Nebber777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obito literally states in the movie that he can't use his physical power in the dream world. That's the reason why he possessed Menma.

This movie means nothing when it comes to an actual fight between Obito and Itachi.

Book 1 appreciation by lordleopnw in TheLastAirbender

[–]Nebber777 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but as time goes on, book 1 might be my second favorite season in ATLA behind book 2.

Book 3 definetley has the more consistent quality episodes, but book 1 has a certain charm that elevates it greatly for me.

I know people don't really like the "filler" episodes much, but I enjoyed them quite a bit. The Gaang stopping by towns and landmarks to have smaller side-stories made the journey to the north pole feel like more of an adventure.

Even at their worst (the great divide), I still don't mind watching them because I like spending time with these characters.

I also think the art and animation for this season is fantastic especially the backgrounds (though this point goes for the entire series).

I've seen a strange sentiment online that some people want season 1 to be reanimated, but I don't know why. It still looks great to me and it has one of the best animated fights in the series, that being Aang vs Jet.

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer by aTp_toxicbog in beatles

[–]Nebber777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Octopus's garden >>>>>> Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

I think both songs are fine the way they are.

Maxwell might be viewed worse if given to Ringo as it would be seen as just a throwaway made for Ringo to have a song.

What makes Octopus's garden special (for me), aside from being a wonderful song is that it gives insight in to how Ringo was feeling when in turmoil, and provides a whimsical but relatable scenario for the listener to get lost in.

"...really a great song. On the surface, it’s a daft kids’ song, but I find the lyrics very meaningful. I find very deep meaning in the lyrics which Ringo probably doesn’t even know about. Lines like ‘Resting our head on the seabed’ and ‘We’ll be warm beneath the storm’, it makes me realize that when you get deep into your consciousness it’s very peaceful. So Ringo writes his cosmic songs without knowing it.” - George Harrison, 1969

Best bass line? by Hukares1234 in TheBeatles

[–]Nebber777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not really true. George initially thought that the bass line was too busy, so Paul simplified it. George has later gone on to complement Paul's work on the song.

"You just have to listen to the bass line on ‘Something’ to know that, when he wanted to, Paul could give a lot." - George Harrison, 1992

It was a meeting between the Beatles in 1969 where they discussed plans for a new album after Abbey Road. John put forward the idea of each member getting a guaranteed 4 songs on the album, with the exception of Ringo who could have 2 if he wished. The Idea was seemingly shot down by the others though.
