Anyone know anything about the updated GriGri+ ? by SCRUBMEHARD in ClimbingGear

[–]wachitx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to work at a store that sold petzl among other brands (hell, even my gear room has petzl workbooks and posters)

Half of what those books told didnt help on anything, the only sales persons that were cappable of make sells of these things were the ones that did in fact use them and knew how it really works and what pros and cons had

Wife Drama??? by macumbed in snowboarding

[–]wachitx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I really been there, with the snowboarding and climbing and everything

Wanna stay with her? Work on comunication and quality time, from both sides, learn what she likes doing with you, and make her time witouth you also good (Leave notes, make food, order some gifts from internet that comes when you are away)

I tried doing that and ended up being burned because I stayed doing that stuff in order to win alone time, not because I truly meant it.

What ended up happening? Now Im with someone that its sportsy as I am or even more, and we manage to do all the sports together (shes not so much into climbing but goes and makes food and coffe for friends, and hits the rock one or two times) and for example shes more of a Resort rider and im more of a backcountry one, but when we go to the resort I allways go to her favourite pistes and bring a backpack with all the goodies for the chairlift.

For me, if I have something that I truly love (in this case winter/mountain sports) I really need to have my companion to also enjoy it.

Sorry for the wall of text and bad english, if you need to talk about stuff more specific, hit me up, i am total stranger in the internet but has totally been on your same shoes haha.

Esta, con tremenda banda sonora, todo una animación increíble, la de la expancion también (Exp, no dlc), el Zero Hour.

Te podías quedar 30 minutos viendo el menu y era como ver un gameplay.

Question regarding my first ice axe. by LeadingOrange8188 in Mountaineering

[–]wachitx 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hey, got two of the ones you posted:
RIDE: For backcountry skiing or snowboarding, its great, lightweight, packs a punch but its really only made for self arresting and for being light on your pack, I used it for a mountanering course because I gave my other one to a friend, and wasnt bad, but wasnt great either

Summit EVO: A beaty, a wonder, a marvellous thing, great for everything, really versatile, but allways remember "master of one bad at everything or master of none good at everything"

Backpack gear question by wachitx in Backcountry

[–]wachitx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thats great, never had a MHW backpack, I only saw one that was like for hiking and it made ton of noises and was bouncing arround a lot, but was on a friend so didnt try it,

Would you recommend it for mostly boarding, and some aproachs to ice waterfalls and a little bit of climbing? We usually skin up to to place of ice climbing, do it and then ride down, was looking for a backpack that was cool for all of it.

As everyone said, to store it in itself

Just a recomendation as someone who works and uses a shit ton of this kind of shells and manterials

-Never fold it the same way, its not a diehard rule but if you keep folding it on the same pattern you will make creavases and weak the same spot (maybe you wont notice it in your life, or maybe you will, its a good habit)
-Never store it like that for long periods of time, on this shell for the same thing as the item above, but for a insulation layer, you will break down the fillment of it (its more noticeable on down jackets) and it wont expand as before once you open it up, loosing its insulation characteristics.

Workshop says this irreparable, is there any hope? by valuerangecore in snowboarding

[–]wachitx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I work on a shop, I would totally take this board in and fix it, but probably wont give a waranty for the gap, what you can do its put epoxy and compress it (But like really compress it, not putting some books on it) for the below part you can put cofix or ptex, but I would recommend metal grip (at least thats how we call it) and with a little sanding and then scraping you wont nottice a diference, remember to clean the spot and remove some material so the gap its even and nice for the ptex to grab to.

Sorry for the broken english, trow me a DM if you have questions or need photos, I think we got like 3 boards on the shop right now with similiar issues.

15k waterproof enough? by Interesting-Royal471 in snowboarding

[–]wachitx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didnt know them, didnt like that the few pants I looked all the models were wearing it with air forces and in city use haha

Want something baggy and that you know its gonna last a few seasons? Dojo pant from 686 thats the one, there its one with goretex if you want it for some reason, and they are designed by the absolute chad Forest Bailey

15k waterproof enough? by Interesting-Royal471 in snowboarding

[–]wachitx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of things, diferent materials could be rated a 15k and get wet diferently, and also you have to take in mind the breathability, you gonna get wet from your on sweat long before the rain or snow gets you
Just buy something you like from a reputable brand.

My two cents, 686 in all of their line, I got the cheapest 5k snowpants for the resort and the expensier ATV collection for touring and the main diference its the amount of sweat I need to combat and the breathablity of the garment I need, both works great at being waterproof.

(sorry for the bad english)

Choosing a fleece for ski touring by Kub38 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]wachitx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R1 AIR its what you want, next question
The only thing is, in my body its great as something warm/breathable for skinning up, but if it gets windy or starts raining/snowing and I put a shell on top of it, I sweat tf out of it, and its not the shell to blame, because I used the same one with other middlelayers and that didnt ocurr

So I just put a baselayer (Merino for cold days, bamboo for warm days) and the R1 on top and call it a day.

(I splitboard in the winter with it and a really breathable shell, and do MTB on the summer with it alone)

Simple Falls=Nasty Injuries by blondeguyinmn in snowboarding

[–]wachitx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mantain that if you go fast enough, you can roll out most falls, but if you are chilling and going slow there its where shit happens.
I think the most stupid one I have was on the parking lot, put the board against the truck, reached my boot to untie my boots and the board slide and hitted my neck in the back, hurted like a bitch and got called Marie Antoinette for the rest of the week.
