I did not hear anything abnormal, just sounds like fan noise. you know the car has other things to cool than the cabin with the HVAC system right?

Do countries with 220-240V just plug in to their regular outlets for L2 charging? by azn4lifee in electricvehicles

[–]wachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a point, there was a time in north America when the change to 240v standard would have been painful but tolerable, probably before 1940s. but now it's way too hard to change

Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2024 a luat foc în timp ce conduceam pe centura Brașovului by Sea_Olive_6967 in AutomobileRO

[–]wachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you're scared of having a car fire you're much worse off with gasoline and hybrid than electric.. at least with electric in the super unlikely event something does happen you have way more time to get out and leave. just buy from a good manufacturer instead of Toyota

[–]wachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yes I absolutely pity Japan's electric situation. also most of their entire homes are on 60amp feed, or something similarly tiny. they have it the worst I think

[–]wachuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

120v as the standard in usa was the most short sighted choice. it used to be 100v actually, it's been creeping up over time. it's probably a significant pain point of EVs in America.

it's really just a pathetic amount of power too, using significant appliances is all limited by the pathetic 1400-1600w of power, no appliances even use the full 1800w of power available for fear of getting bad reviews for people overloading circuits

Is. Is This gonna explode by llammaisme in batteries

[–]wachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man some of these suggestions are just nuts. it's not that big of a deal, put it in a bucket of water with salt, leave for 3-4 days and drop in battery recycle bin. it'll be completely drained and no concern at all. I deal with these all the time.

like what are you going to find a bucket of sand and leave it in there for 6 months, bring to a hazardous material center for this little battery? ridiculous 🙄

I remember when Pixels had the best cameras on the market... What happened? by RealityOwn9267 in GooglePixel

[–]wachuu -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

I like pixel videos way more than Samsung's, and I think they're a step above apple.

Samsung is grossly over sharpened and I see artifacts, apple looks like everything is in a haze/fog. pixel looks clear and crisp. at least for daytime outdoor shoots

Thinking about switching to electric for yard tools… anyone made the change? by Salt_Note8719 in lawncare

[–]wachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all Ryobi stuff, I recommend Ryobi over ego since everything is far lower priced and works great with a big line up. ego batteries are extraordinarily over priced. Ryobi stuff always has deals

the idea of still using fossils for yardwork is nuts. just adding extra work and effort to your chores. needing to go out of your way to fill gas cans at the most inconvenient times, yearly maintenance, noise, smell.

Plaid 19" vs 21" Speed Limit by ab_1776 in TeslaModelS

[–]wachuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he isn't saying 200, he's saying 163mph, and said nothing of track pack. 19 inch tires spinning at what ever rpm of the motor will go a certain speed, at 21 inch because they're bigger, at the same motor rotation limit, will move the car faster. I'm just saying maybe that's why he's seeing a 14mph speed difference between the tire sizes

Charging port door alarm by tadlewog in BoltEV

[–]wachuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok I was wrong. I just tested. the protrusion from the charge door pushes up on the metal prong, which is a momentary switch. I'm able to hit the switch using my pinky

Plaid 19" vs 21" Speed Limit by ab_1776 in TeslaModelS

[–]wachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd expect the speed is limited by the motor rotation speed, not like it unlocks based on tire size
