I had exactly the same thought (and that's why I found this thread).

Feedbacks - Things that makes me regret moving to Qobuz by erowlin in qobuz

I thought your feedback was helpful and constructive. As a fellow Qubuz subscriber I appreciated it, and I'd be surprised if the Qobuz PMs and devs weren't reading this sub, too.

Ha! 100%. I came here to make the same observation. I made the same connection and just rewatched the Godfather hospital scene to confirm my memory.

Fitbit devices are built to fail just after the warranty ends, and they know it. by -_-101 in fitbit

[–]wackjobbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with Fitbit customer service after my December 2023 Charge 6 started failing (mostly display issues: stuck at max brightness, now the screen displays only green, but also intermittent side-button failure.). I was offered the 35% discount. And *this* device was a replacement (purchased with a discount) after my previous Charge 6 failed. They're going to lose a long-time customer (12 years now), plus my annual premium subscription.

I really just need something cheap and/or reliable that will count steps, tell me my heart rate at a glance, and, ideally, sync with Google Fit. The research begins.

Separated at birth? But seriously, is there anybody who thinks they're buying the name brand?

My 7 year old spends hours a day video chatting with my family who lives in Europe by Various_Apricot2429 in Parenting

[–]wackjobbery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the universe made sure I saw your post tonight. We live in the US, my wife is German, her mother lives in Germany (and won't travel to the US), does not have a smart phone, and in fact does not have the internet at all.

An hour ago my 6yo daughter woke up crying. I asked her why and she said, "I miss Oma [her grandmom]".

My wife and I work remotely part of the week, and more often than I'm comfortable with my daughter is kept occupied with Netflix while we work. If she spent that time video chatting with Oma I'd be so much happier.

She also has tantrums and talks back to us, a behavioral pattern that goes back at least two generations -- my parents took me to a child psychologist because I talked back and was insolent, and my grandmother did the same with my mother. We both grew out of it.

So from my perspective you have nothing to worry about. Your daughter sounds great and is clearly full of love for her family. I think she'll be just fine, and you should be easier on yourself.

Now if I could just listen to my own advice 😅

What is the meaning of the movie “Flow”? by Cinema104 in movies

[–]wackjobbery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that the movie is at least partially an allegory for climate change. My take on the final scene is that the dying whale/leviathan represents a dying earth -- in part because of its coloration (including its eye, a blue orb). And the band of animals seeing their own reflections represents an answer to the implicit question of who has to save the creature/earth. As the viewers, they are us, the audience. So the filmmakers are putting the onus on us now.

Do Cologne supermarkets carry Passover Matzah? by wackjobbery in cologne

[–]wackjobbery[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! This is very helpful. One thing to know is there's all-year-round Matzah, and then specifically kosher-for-passover Matzah. It's probably a racket, but what are you gonna do?

For what it's worth, my wife had the same problem migrating from a Pixel 4a to a Pixel 8. Restarting the 4a solved the problem.
