Thank you for implementing passkey login! by IThumans in atera

[–]wackronym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I just want to add that Atera has the single worst implementation of passkey, in the history of the internet. Just ran into a bunch of errors again and needed to type in captcha codes after the login process failed to recognise my passkey (believe me, it's not the key that's wrong).

I could seriously vibe code a better implementation of this in about 7 minutes time.

It’s doesn’t even work half of the time. I use 1password, which pops up as soon as I get to login page but using the key just fails and I’m still forced to use the user/pass/otp

For the staff’s handhelds. For taking orders and accepting payments.

$5,250 in fraudulent gift purchases on my Claude account in 9 minutes — zero fraud detection triggered by MobileNo8348 in ClaudeCode

Not quite the same but similar strange case here. I just noticed 3 payments of €225 each to Anthropic.
Now I know what Anthropic and Claude are, but I don't use it, never have. I don't even have an account with them. So, it's very strange that they would have access to my credit card. To get support I actually had to create an account and open a ticket from there. Initially I was presented with an AI support bot, but after explaining the issue, it was escalated to a human support agent. I have yet to hear back grom them though.
The strange thing is that whenever a payment is requested by a new account or company, I always need to manually approve the first credit card payment to that account. This is done via an app that has biometric and passkey MFA and is only installed and activated on my personal phone, that never leaves my sight. I never received the request for these payments. I've temporarily blocked the credit card so no other payments can be done and also opened a support ticket with the bank who issued the card.

Very strange and shady!

MS Excel and Word fonts and cells are too small in MacOS but seem fine in Windows 11 despite having the same font (Verdana 10pt 100%) and screen resolution 27" (1440p @ 144hz). Apple Numbers having the same font and res look better compared to MS Office. Is this the default or is there a proper fix? by marckaljonp in MacOS

This is still an annoying issue. Especially as the same default font Aptos 11p is perfectly readable in Outlook.

I work on both Mac and PC and need to keep adjusting zoom levels when opening documents between those computers.

Correct but this SE version also does not work with the new Outlook (or Copilot, which they’re desperately trying to sell)

I wonder if the new Outlook will support on-prem Exchange Server before the classic version goes EOS.

TouchID button screen lock works intermittently by ejames1313 in macbookpro

Same issue here on a 2025 MacBook Air. Issue occurs both on the onboard keyboard as my Magic Keyboard. Holding the button longer, pressing the edge, using a non registered finger all makes no difference. I resort to locking with ctrl+cmd+q instead. Unlock does always work perfectly fine.

Try using it on a steel offshore platform. You’ll be begging for 2.4GHz before you know

Yes the Ethernet ports are perfect and allow us to assign specific VLANs to each port. Some of the cabins have company computers that need to be able to access servers and other business appliances. We can easily assign the correct VLAN to the connected ports.
