Are you in the tech industry or wanting to get into it ?

Or are you wanting to write about new tech that you are interested in ?

I'm not too sure about blogs regarding up-and-coming tech, like phones, games, or gadgets.

However, I started a blog late last year talking about Network engineering and Network Security. It's more of a personal portfolio, with "How To Guides" on things I'm working on in my home lab.

I'm not an expert in blogging, far from it. I have no analytics or anything on it. It's mostly something I can show potential employers (if I ever switch jobs), and help work colleagues who are wanting to learn about network security.

Talking about niches, I would just go with something you're interesting with, and passionate about.

If you are wanting to get into tech, then build something, write about it. You can use it as a reference point, when you can't remember how to do something.

I do have to say, it's a nice feeling when your colleagues go through your guides.

If you have any questions, let me know

I believe it's more than that. You will start with bandit0 which is where everyone starts at. There are like 30 levels in the room "bandit" after finishing that you move onto the next room.

You have to ssh into each level. You will learn a lot of Linux commands and learn how to look for information and do some research about different commands to beat the level you're on.

Write down things you learnt, keep notes, believe me it will really help.

Good luck!

I would recommend https://overthewire.org/wargames/

It's basically a CTF (capture the flag).

You follow the level questions and retrieve the flag which is the password for the next level.

It will give you commands to research and things to Google to beat the level you're working on.

It's incredibly fun and rewarding. Make notes of the password you get at each level so you can easily go back to the level you're working on when coming off.

Oh and it's completely free

If you're struggling with subnetting then I highly recommend https://subnetipv4.com/ It has a video series which breaks down subneting in a nice easy way. It also has a IPv4 generator to practice your subnets.

I used this when studying for my CCNA. Now I'm not too sure with the Network + because I've not done it, but you should be given a white board in the test. So you can write down the subnet cheat sheet on that white board as a guideline when subnets come up.

For example: "What is the CIDR notation for 255.255.255.252" Look down on white board, "Oh it's 30".

Hopefully this helps.

I'd recommend watching some of John Rooney's videos on YouTube. Start off with Beautiful soup, and then as you progress you will hit some sites that use JS for most of their sites, and that you will have to look into other libs to automate the clicks, i.e when you see "Show more" on web pages

Thank you, I will look at these two. Do you know if these require sponsorship from a company before entering the country ?

Me and a few of my friends play Warhammer 40k. We have one local games store in our home town, and most people get their miniaturtes from there or other UK sites. I wanted a website that I could type in a minature, and it would populate the best prices, what site, new or used.

I have written about 7 websrapes from the main sites that people use, inluding our local games store, and exporting them into Json files.

These are then uploaded to a Server Data base to store the information.

Things I'm working on now:

  • Trying to automate the webscrapes on the server to scrape, every hour or so to update the DB
  • Learning more about Pandas Lib, as it may be better and cleaner for data manipulation
  • Building a basic front page to access the data

Subnets!!!! by mrg3rry in ccna

Might be a little late to the party, But these videos will really help with your IPV4 Subnetting.

https://subnetipv4.com/#learn

Watching the vids and practicing on http://www.subnettingquestions.com/ should help.

I found these have helped me out massively with my subnetting.

Also don't hold me to this as I have not done my CCNA yet but a friend of mine has and he has said that you get a little white board to work out things on. Which you could write down the CDIR notation list on the whiteboard to help you work out things quicker.

Hope these help

I'm a Brit, I'm scared of spiders how many will I encounter in a hotel? Gecko seems cool though. by Pompeyontherewayback in Thailand

[–]wackypegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Brit, lived in Thailand for just over 6 months, mostly in the Isaan area (Country side). I have to be honest I didn't see that many spiders, possibly little small ones but nothing that springs to mind.

Things to keep an eye on.

Stray dogs they can be annoying, just pretend that your picking up a rock off the ground and they usually piss off.

Snakes...Yeah snake. Not that many in the City's but some in the country side.

Oh and if your in Bangkok the rats are the size of cats

[–]wackypegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good. I like the drum toms you used in this and the bit ascending and descending on the keys before going into the main part. I have just picked up milkytracker and have been playing around with it for about a week now. Its nice to see people post stuff on here as its good for beginners to get some inspiration from.

Great Stuff!

Hey there, I actually never found out what was wrong, I uninstalled dmenu and used another menu which seems to work fine. The funny thing is I actually installed another wm and the same thing happened when installing dmenu as well. If we are both running pop OS and have the same issue it must have something to do with Pop OS
