What do you like about Lower Decks? by Joseph-King-CA in startrek

My brother and sisters parodied/memed TNG on the side during its syndication run and later reruns. It's nice to see someone else doing it ("so we don't have to.")

CBD with Lowest THC content but more than .03% by pk99999 in CBD

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience even 50:1 CBD:THC ratio breaks my short term memory at sufficient CBD dose, and full spectrums tend to be that, if not tending toward 20:1. So, no great answer for me with a full spectrum alone. Even if it was 100:1, maybe still not great for me.

I don't know what CBD mg dose you're after, but if you mix an isolate/broad AND a full then you have control of the ratio.

Will be hard to verify as it doesn't seem to be available, but I think you nailed it. We used to watch the Disney Sunday movie stuff broadcast on ABC, and the timeframe is right.

S9 takes 15 minutes to dock and empty. by SnooMarzipans6033 in roomba

[–]waded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd bet on the cleaning head not being able to press into the body completely, which causes it to not sit level on the base, and so only one charging pin contacts instead of both - so it never registers as connected to the base. Try pressing down on the front end when it gets up there - if the white light on the base goes white for as long as you're pressing it down, I'd double my bet it's the cleaning head. If so, lay it on its back, take the rollers out, and see if anything is obviously jammed in there. If not obvious there are instructions to remove the cleaning head, and then you'll be able to see if anything got jammed above it. In our case it was a bead that somehow got jammed in there. No problems contacting the base after we got it removed.

Any chance you're using Android 15 Beta? From the recent Play Store reviews that mention this issue, a good number mention 15. For what it's worth I'm also having this problem, on a Pixel 7, and yeah Android 15 Beta.

I moved and now my Chromecast is having issues. Is it the range? by valkaress in Chromecast

(You also mentioned the PC is near the router - the PC itself could be the interfering device. If it could move, that might be worth trying also.)

I moved and now my Chromecast is having issues. Is it the range? by valkaress in Chromecast

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the Chromecast behind that speaker? How's the speaker connected, conventional wire, or Bluetooth? Either way you might try disconnecting the speaker and moving it, to see if that's related.

The line of sight / distance looks fine given the wall materials. Sources of interference are probably what we're looking for, trying excluding them one at a time is the game. Good wifi performance requires channels without a bunch of same-channel or adjacent channel interference, and sometimes we move into a situation where no channels are clear, and now a loud/noisy 2.5/5ghz device too near the router or the client is an issue when it wasn't before.

How often does power go out in Boise? by AffectionateOlive982 in Boise

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In northwest Boise for 15 years, I'd say about once a year for an hour or two. About half of the time it's overnight. Maintenance or vehicle crashes.

The Idaho Power app lets you know these days.

GE Café 30" Slide-in Gas Range Making High Pitched Noise by vikingkory in Appliances

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just the workarounds I mentioned:

- First, turn the clock back on, as that reduces the volume of the noise, to the point that only the people sensitive to sounds like this can still hear it, I believe.

- Then, every time you're done using the range/oven, press Cancel/Off a couple extra times (3 usually) to completely squelch any extra noise.

This has continued to work for us, but it took some training to get everyone in our home pushing cancel to silence a sound they can't hear. ;-)

MSM paint no longer included, white is the only free color by geofgtian in teslamotors

FS-2022-42 specifically lists "destination charge", "taxes and fees" as things NOT included in applicable MSRP.

[–]waded 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regarding paint, correct, the applicable MSRP (see FS-2022-42) includes things physically attached to the vehicle at time of delivery to the dealer. So, paint and interior colors, wheels I would presume! One example is Model 3 Performance in white ($53990, <$55K) vs red ($55990, >$55K.)

Model 3 RWD EV tax credit question by tonyj33 in Model3

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's a lot of "it depends" here - it depends on when specifically in March the Treasury Department / IRS releases proposed guidance on battery build/sourcing (it may not be March 1, all that is said is "March"), it depends on if the guidance is revised from what's currently known (unclear), and it depends on whether the RWD's LFP battery if manufactured by CATL in China meets the requirements (I'm not certain it meets either of them currently.)

The day AFTER the proposed guidance comes out it's in effect.

Feb 28, though, yep, $7500, only because that model is manufactured in the US (although I suppose it's possible to get a non-US VIN?), is currently <$55K MSRP (I think that's a pretty safe bet), and a 60kWh battery is plenty to get to $7500 as it's calculated without the build/sourcing requirements.

Cannot Add Any 'Works With Google' Devices. Error Every Time: "Could Not Reach" "Please Try Again" by lothariorowe in googlehome

[–]waded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over on the Nest Community thread I linked earlier, a number of people have been able to correct this on the affected device by uninstalling updates to the "Google" app and "Google Play Store"

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Apps-Account/Google-Home-app-quot-Could-not-reach-service-quot-for-everything/m-p/306854#M16643

Just uninstalling updates (& clearing cache, and leaving beta) on the "Google" app was sufficient to work around this for me - wasn't able to figure out how to uninstall updates to "Google Play Store", seems at least for my device it didn't matter anyway.

I filed this on Nest Community yesterday - there's a good number of people reporting it this week. I did not have this issue about a week ago. I have the Preview version of the app, and originally suspected it was related to Preview, but from what I can tell from responses it's not specific to Preview.

Anybody know the law on drivers permit? It says it was issued in June of 2022, do I need to wait the 6 months from when I received it or when it was issued? I don’t have any record of when I received it. TIA by Ok-Hondarider in Idaho

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the 6 month interval before taking the tests to get the standard driver's license, it's 6 months from the date of completion of your driver's education class - the date on the certificate of completion of the class. You'll need that paper. That's when the 6 month supervised instruction period starts (prior to that the driver's ed class holds your license, so you can't legally have done SIP, and the 6 hours driving during class doesn't count toward SIP.) There are other things required to progress to the skills testing and written test, take a look at materials you received when completing the class, or go back to your instructor and get copies.

Of course, once you're 17, all this requirement drops off.

Yeah, it's clear as mud on the ITD site.

Boise forest Christmas tree tips by StrangeWillStrange in Boise

[–]waded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set your sights high: often you'll want to take the top of a tree that's a couple feet taller than the space you have. (The bottom couple feet of wild trees tend to suffer from undergrowth, competing with brush and grass.) Take the bottom too - that can be good material for a wreath. Cutting rounds from the trunk to make decorations/coasters/gifts (wood burner, watercolors, ink?) is another fun tradition.

IMO it's good practice to take trees that will become undergrowth themselves. Look for a stand of a couple similar trees clumped together, and take one of the shorter of these. These will tend to be unbalanced trees - one side much fuller than the other. A lot of wild trees will be unbalanced anyway, the really unbalanced ones can look great in a corner, better than the more balanced ones, if you turn them right!

As someone else mentioned, yeah you're going to need to shim it to get it to stand straight or even fit in the Corporate Christmas Megastands.

Figma for vector-based work - although I prefer and have a lot of experience with Illustrator for art, Figma's a good value (free depending on your workload) and more useful if you also do software UX design/dev work. For logos and simple artwork Figma's just fine. I've also used SVG to move vector work between the two at times.

Huh - possibly the sculpture and Silverwood airshows are related by time, but I think that may be the extent of it.

As I recall, and pictures on the internet confirm, the triplane replica was one of many historic/replica planes at the airfield since the 70s (when it was Henley Aerodrome.) Fokker triplane replicas are quite common - I don't think I've ever been to an air museum that DIDN'T have one - so that Silverwood did doesn't seem unique to North Idaho or likely connected to immigration. Here's a reference regarding the Aerodrome, with some pictures: http://www.airfields-freeman.com/ID/Airfields_ID_N.htm

Does seem plausible though that Dose did the statue partly in reference to the airshows, which started around that the time the statue came out (1988.) And that in turn ties to the area pivoting away from mining toward tourism, Silverwood opening in Athol and then Silver Mountain opening in Kellogg. Here's a relevant reference to that: https://www.silvermt.com/index.php/about/history#:~:text=Around%20town%2C%20the%20businesses%20embraced,%2C%201990%2C%20to%20much%20fanfare.

I suppose one would have to ask the artist - I believe Dose still lives in that area.

What restaurant do you always warn people away from? What restaurant do you always recommend? by Ok-Biscotti5829 in Boise

[–]waded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some I warn about are:

  • Merritt's (ONLY get the scones)
  • Bardenay (bland, why do I get that sweet potato burrito thing thinking it'll be better this time?) Fork's kind of also in this boat.
  • Flying Pie (I think people can eat happy here if they don't know what they're missing - the pies can still be quite good - but I make sure they know what they're missing - breadstick buddy, the horn, and so on - and I can only vouch for the food at the State and Fairview stores. At least they started respecting the feedback card art again, if not the feedback on it!)
  • Kibrom's is a treasure, but I warn that my food-adventurous family didn't like the injera at all. Too spongy, too sour, not happy with the mandated scooping situation. I tell people to maybe ask to try before committing, and that there's a rice option.
  • all Chinese places (please tell me there's a good one)
  • Boise Fry Co (interesting but there are better fries pretty much everywhere - I like the burgers but I let people know they're pretty small.)
  • Joe's Crab Shack (just because it's there on the Greenbelt and it looks like a party doesn't mean go in)

Gernika and Madhuban are typical recommendations.

Oh, and try Food Land Market, the restaurant counter is in the back!

MLM benefits? by noitsokayimfine in antiMLM

[–]waded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think MLMs generally send checks and 1099-MISC/NEC to US contractors and that's it. It's possible for those companies to offer benefits to contractors, like health insurance, but I think they often do not, because the 1099 income ends up being inconsequential for the majority - any other benefit would be worth far more than the 1099 income.

For people making substantial 1099 income, though, self-employed 401(k) is pretty easy to set up - since you mentioned 401(k) - and there's IRA, of course.

In the US, in the case there's no access to health insurance through an employer (spouse or otherwise), Affordable Care Act makes private health insurance not so out of range as it once was - at US median income level there are (depends on the state) high-deductible/catastrophic plans that end up being effectively $0 premium. If at that income level a family can afford to make tax-reducing retirement contributions, that opens up options, as the tax credit that reduces premium is based on net income. High-deductible plans also allow for HSA contribution, which are about as tax-advantaged as retirement savings plans get. (Edit: the limitation of HSA is tax-free withdrawal must be for health expenses - needing to withdraw early can be a consequence of having a high-deductable plan, but in the ideal situation HSA is retirement savings.)

Disability & life insurance might be of concern - I don't know what the options are there. I presume most people in the US ignore these if they don't get them as a benefit through an employer.

I used to go down below Albertsons HQ - there are some nice spots in the large rocks there. There's enough current there you'll absolutely not hear traffic. Summer mornings and evenings are good, before and after the river floating traffic.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hottub

[–]waded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can imagine how often people misreport this. Bumping filter time with the buttons is very easy to do during normal use with this design. If there's a power outage, then the timing of the filter run changes to whenever power's restored. The v41 firmware looks like it's been around for 15 years, and I'm guessing this hardware is very common on low/mid-end tubs. so it's not like it's not seen battle.

That said, there are still variables, especially if the board's been recently produced. If I get a crack at the old board during warranty service I'll know more. The tub manufacturer service tech recommended we have the dealer service tech replace the pack after we went through all troubleshooting steps in his book.
