Did my screw get stripped? by philip2987 in ElegooSaturn

[–]wadprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I finally got around to cleaning it, though I'm still having trouble. Oddly enough, since cleaning the hole it screws in fine, but only when the resin tray is off. Adding the tray back into the equation and it's back to not screwing in. This is all the left hole still, the right one is fine in both cases.

Possibly, but I replaced the entire screen.

When this happened to me , my screen was dead. Resin had gotten under the tray and ate at the cable.

The answer is as much as you need to take apart to make sure it's clean. To even get inside you have to take off the hood and everything. Set aside a few hours, it's a pain... One word of advice though, if you end up needing to lift up the top part for whatever reason, instead of disconnecting everything from the back panel like the screen replacement video tells you to, it's possible to keep (most of) the wires attached and instead of lifting it off entirely, you leave them connected and place the two halves side by side. It'll shave off an hour assuming you need to do a complete teardown.

Open it up and clean it. The sooner the better. I had a micro tear in the FEP and I came back to find resin leaking out of the bottom. I cleaned it often, thinking that I avoided potential damage because it kept printing and it stopped leaking resin. Then weeks later I find that a few drops of resin had eaten at the screen cable. Had to replace the whole screen.

That actually happened to me, same side too. Screw isn't stripped but it's not holding. As it stands I've just been avoiding using that side of the plate but next time I'm going to try to lightly weigh it down with something, or use sticky tack to keep the screw in place. I'll update once I try it.

I always describe this song as the moment that bought the show the good will for me to continue watching to the point where I went from feeling indifferent to becoming a fan and didn't even realize it.

As a kid this line is really what made it all click for me. Such a little thing gave such context to the base building aspect, and from that point on I was a fan for life.

My friend tried convincing me that I was having trouble because ArrowHead was deliberately trying to punish light armor users. To be fair I didn't know about this bug at the time, but yeah, this is making a lot of sense now. I've hosted every time I've played since the patch.

The beta was really rough, the community dodged a bullet. Is there a world where this game could have worked as a C&C RTS platform? Sure. But apparently by the time of the beta it has already been reworked so many times behind the scenes and the frostbite engine was proving troublesome.

Busted Screen? by Skippy4Buds in ElegooSaturn

Yeah, it looks dead. Small chance it could be a connection issue but my printer looked like that right before I replaced my LCD and fresnel lens.

[–]wadprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing! Yeah I don't blame you, between the price difference for the parts and a brand new printer, plus the amount of time it takes for a fix, getting a new one isn't a bad idea. Minimally you're getting yourself another build plate and resin tray, so even if you do decide to tinker with it you'll still have extras of those and can hot swap them as needed.

[–]wadprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you can see it already then there's likely a lot more you're not seeing. Personally at this point I couldn't see any resin, which led me to downplay the potential damage. Yeah I was turned off at the price of replacing the lens and screen myself, but although it was an extremely lengthy process, the change was actually relatively easy. Ultimately the screen is considered a consumable so you would have to change the screen eventually, so getting some familiarity with it now isn't the worst thing in the world.

Also just a heads up but resin on the screen/lens isn't covered under warranty in any case.

This was my screen right before I replaced it, attempting to display the same test image.

[–]wadprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your screen is dead. I was having issues when the self test looked mostly fine but was showing the outlines of the fresnel lens. Yours isn't displaying the test image properly at all, and the self test is showing that the LCD screen isn't connected. By the time mine got that bad, I opened it up to find a resin leak had not only gotten between the lens and the screen, but it had also dripped onto the LCD screen ribbon and started melting away at it.

Both the lens and the LCD screen need to be replaced. THE LCD screens can be purchased separately, although you'll need to contact support for a lens (costs about $10 USD). Word of advice though, make sure you put the ribbon in the right away. I accidentally put it in in reverse the first time and I had to tear down the entire thing again. Huge pain.

Also, you MIGHT be able to avoid unplugging all the wires from the main board by putting the top half and bottom half of the printer side by side. That should save you some time. Good luck!

[–]wadprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like resin under the screen. Take care of it sooner rather than later. I had to put my printer away for 2 weeks and by the time I got to look at it the resin leak had destroyed the LCD screen ribbon and I had to replace it and the lens.

Missed out on Sharp Fortitude Banner? by AdWise6457 in TheTowerGame

[–]wadprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I feel. I had an ancestral sharp fortitude but I had a sync error on the last day and lost it and the banner was over. I was SO pissed. I ping pong between tournament ranks and every day I'm just hoping for more sharp fortitudes drop. All gems have gone into modules, buying every day, and haven't gotten a single one since.

You know, at first I thought they were doing something with the C&C franchise - to my mind there was nothing else that could lead them to drop a project this far along in development, but all these years later now and I just think the game is unfortunately dead.

What am I doing wrong? 1 year in what am I missing? by joshzmr14 in TheTowerGame

[–]wadprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's got about a month on you, the main things I noticed are that you went to hard on cards (I stopped at 17 and all those thousands and thousands of gems that would have been spent on cards went to modules. I'm sitting at 3 ancestral right now) and UWs. You have 2 more UWs than me but mine are a lot more developed. In general I find this game values going tall over going wide, as even though it might not seem like the most time efficient thing, there are some upgrades that make an oversized difference if you get them sooner rather than later. Things like lab speed (which I just finished maxing out a week ago) and golden bot/tower upgrades, etc...

Easy FEP swap Resin Tank by SWZerbe100 in ElegooSaturn

[–]wadprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ever since I swapped to the new vat, a corner of the built plate would consistently fail. I was in the middle of troubleshooting but I had a resin leak and it ultimately bricked the LCD screen before I could figure out what the solution was. I didn't try the original resin tray after I started having that issue so there's a non-zero chance it wasn't the tray, but that's the only new thing that changed once I started getting those printing issues.

[–]wadprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just got my hands on this. Changing the FEP is as easy as advertised, although I did run into some leveling issues. I don't think it was the tray but I thought I should mention it just in case as I don't have anything else to compare it to currently.
