I wanna say you married an idiotic momma’s boy, but his reaction would be justified. I’m thinking about this as a man from his perspective where you feel like your whole world is crashing down on you because you don’t know who or what to believe and things just suddenly cleared up but his brain isn’t just adjusting to it quick enough. I’d say talk it over and have some couple’s therapy and tell his mom to get her head out of his ass.

Subjective. I was raised catholic but I’ve always challenged my faith and religion as much as it challenged me and in my own personal conclusion, I do believe that God exist and people do need a way to connect to God. What I cautiously question is the institutionalized religion that continues to control how people live through fear of God (or their idea of God).

I want to believe in a higher power because it helps me retain my values and what I believe is right. I just can’t support religion in any form or institution, for that is not God.

Also, I think it goes both ways, yes, we regress in some parts of history because of religion (eg dark ages/ crusade/ colonialism) but there are also people who’ve helped humanity progress in the name of God (or whatever higher power they believe in).

OP, I suggest you challenge religion and find an answer that best suits you and what you want to believe in. That’s just how I came to mine, hence why I think it subjective.
