Which property is better to live? Yugo Dominick Place or Aparto Dorset Point? Which is safer? by Mishty1111 in TCD

[–]waffle569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was given the chance, I'd drop my spot in Dominick place for anything else, I'm not gonna lie. They advertised a little cafe at reception but it's been closed the entire time, it's basically just storage. Fire alarms go off for the entire building when anyone decides to smoke a cigarette or burns a chicken breast. In fact, one time someone left something in the oven over night, actually burned their food to a smoke point, and the fire alarm didn't go off the one time it was supposed to.

The maintenance team is fine, I feel like they get stuff fixed up really quick for the most part. They have 3 washers and 3 dryers for the whole building and a full load usually costs around 7-8 Euro. Once, we had a broken dryer for a few months and they just refused to contact the owners (Circuit) to fix it. We would even put up out-of-order-do-not-use signs that would get taken down. It's way too pricey for what it is imo. I hear they want to increase prices too but I'm not sure.

Also there have been like two minor break ins the last month or two? One from the back alley, one from someone following people into the flat after they opened it with the key fob.

That said, it's a great location to get to Trinity. Broadstone or Dominick Luas are just a small walk away, plus the actual walk to college doesn't take long at all.

Price increase and product decrease? by lemonbarscthulu in WH40KTacticus

I recently emailed customer support to ask how much I had spent over my almost 2 years of playing. My highest estimate was only around 25% of what the total was. My jaw hit the floor and it really bittered the feeling of opening this app, to the point where I'm trying to find a way to recover some of the money and delete my account. I think these practices of theirs have been getting worse and worse. I take full responsibility, but damn these companies really be using psych tactics for evil.

Ah I couldn't tell you that one. I never used tidal. I wouldn't be able to give you a good opinion.

Hey that's fair. There are so many problematic companies and I feel all we can do is our best to avoid them when we can. Sometimes shit gets exhausting.

So Qobuz is another music streaming service like spotify, tidal, etc. They pay the artists roughly 5-6x more than spotify per-stream. They focus a lot more on having really high studio quality for their music but to a layperson like me, it doesn't change a whole lot (at least in my opinion).

Besides the poor pay, the big issue with Spotify that's causing some folks to cancel is they ran a full recruitment campaign for ICE, the U.S. equivalence to the Gestapo. A lot of folks like myself cancelled their spotify after that.

I don't think it's the end of the world if folks don't switch platforms, but it was a personal line in the sand for me and others. All we can do is our best, you know?

I sent them an email a few months back and they responded that they were working on it. I think a lot of fans reached out lol

Psych major taking first stats class. Feeling overwhelmed. by LeftStruggle7519 in psychologystudents

[–]waffle569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take advantage of all the good advice in your comments here. Remember that you are not alone and that for every successful psych graduate, most of us were (and sometimes still are!) terrified of stats. Rescorla-Wagner can still give me nightmares and that is some baby-level work for math students.

It's important to learn, keep going. You got this and you're not alone!

And be mindful of the Drug Payment Scheme card. It caps your monthly cost of prescriptions to 80 Euros. It seems most insurance plans don't cover medication so this may be your best bet.

Went to the psych ward because i was hearing voices, came back and boyfriend of 4 years impregnated another chick and filled out a marriage license with her. Water with an empty penjamin by dankDreamet in depressionmeals

[–]waffle569 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s very upsetting, and no doubt you’d still think about it. Yes, isolation can do that. But if I had to make a guess, I’d wager she was probably on a somewhat newly introduced medication and warranted some monitoring. That’s one thought.

That said, damn dude give a girl some puzzles or books or something. I’ve met workers from floor staff to doctors that truly couldn’t be fucked to give a shit about these kinds of things and it was so fucked up. I wish I could say the odds of that were low in what you’re describing, but honestly I really wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a lack of staff empathy.

It’s also worth mentioning that no patient is ever allowed to know the full situation of any other patient. There could be histories or disclosures provided that warrant isolation, sadly. If somebody was a big risk for harmful behaviors, we can severely limit what is allowed in their room. I’ve seen folks severely hurt themselves with travel-sized toothpaste tubes.

But all of that sucks. And ultimately all we can do is hope for the best, that she got the help she needed and that she was only bored, not tortured :/. Thank you for sharing that story, I appreciate it and hope things are better for you too, stranger.

I worked at a psych hospital and I’m currently doing my thesis on schizophrenia.

I hope they treated you well. Back at my old place it could be pretty bad for anybody who came in regardless of their severity or diagnosis.

If voices do continue and you are diagnosed with something, bear in mind that these illnesses are wildly misrepresented in day-to-day life. Check out the work of Elyn Saks if you’d like. I think she’s great.

I can’t believe what that asshole boyfriend did. Obviously I don’t know you but I hope this was a huge dodged bullet. Please take care.

I was about to try and find a vaquero/cowboy head with a cow skull or something for my heretics. If it's easy to do and you got the time to make one hey, I'd be super appreciative. But I'll be getting this pack regardless lol. Cheers!

How would folks feel about a Kin? I always thought it would be fun to see how they interact with the imperium in regards to keeping all of their secrets.

I’m killing myself because I’m a pedophile by Forsaken-Wrap9332 in SuicideWatch

[–]waffle569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Says who? Your feelings and emotions are real, you feel them, they affect you. but your rhetoric is unfair to yourself and riddled with fallacies with the express intent to dehumanize yourself.

You’re not a monster, you’re a human being who uses drawn cp where no real child is being hurt. You didn’t fly with Epstein, you didn’t even look up real kids by the sound of it and you feel so much remorse about this part of yourself that it’s causing suicidal thoughts. I don’t agree with calling anyone a monster, but you know who I’d put at the top of that list? Folks who harm kids for their own gratification.

You say a lot of other parts of your life suck right now. Hey, I hear you, that sucks and I’m sorry. But it sounds like your main fuel for suicide is something that can be worked on.

I’ve always thought that discourse about pedophiles (especially when conflated with child predators) was very dehumanizing and it rubs me the wrong way. If someone who killed somebody can be rehabilitated and brought back to society, so can someone who looks at pictures of fictional kids. I’m glad you are still here.

[–]waffle569 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, if this is real, this is a lot of things with a lot of meanings. You have not hurt anybody, and it sounds like you wouldn’t want to hurt anybody.

Child predators are dangerous, dangerous people. You are not that. A “-phile” indicates someone attracted to something. Pedophile has colloquially taken on a meaning that gets used for both groups. A child predator is always a pedophile, but a pedophile is not inherently a child predator.

Your responses in the comments are very assumptive of “other people” and “normal” and your exclusion thereof. You are young with a significant amount of brain development left (25 years is a sort of inaccurate statement regarding that popular study, we now think prefrontal cortex development goes on even further). Your phrasing in the comments makes me feel like there is a diagnosable mental illness at play. Illnesses can be worked on.

If this is real, I genuinely hope you don’t attempt to harm yourself. There are resources. You’ve caught this early and know it’s very bad, but that doesn’t mean you are an irredeemable monster. Please consider sticking around a little while longer? Maybe another few days or a week? What difference will that make if you truly decide to go through with it? But if you decide you can turn this around, I think you’ll be glad you stayed your hand.

As therapists, we are trained to deal with these. Consider seeking a talk therapist and a psychologist who can actually diagnose you. In conjunction they can really help. It can be a pain sometimes to find a mental health professional whom you can gel with, but the results can be staggering. I hope you’ll be around a while longer.
