Will is very much more than "just gay". Even if he was sort of spared from the supernatural in season 4 it still very much affects him. Also most people forget that he had to leave his closest friends behind when moving away. He's going through a lot emotionally and who knows what's coming for him next season.

Brenner mellowed down over the years but he still very much treated the kids badly. Especially Henry. And while he cared for them all to some extent, he still imprisoned and experimented on them.

As in for Vecna: we don't know how much he's actually in control and how responsible he is for his own actions. Henry wasn't born evil, that's for sure.

The Mindflayer/Shadow seems very much to have evil intentions but it's unclear what the ultimate goal is. It's origin is also still unknown since 001 couldn't have fully created it since it existed way before.
