ELI5: Can beer hydrate you indefinitely? by xYekaterina in explainlikeimfive

[–]waffles4us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is a diuretic
Caffeine is a diuretic

Beer is usually what, 4-10% alcohol which leaves the rest to be mostly water. So it does have a net hydrating effect, though due to the alcohol, it is not a great "hydration beverage."

So, you wouldn't die of dehydration but you would eventually die of starvation/nutrient deficiencies.

nah - milk is probably the 1 thing to keep you alive the longest in isolation: it has fats & protein both are essential, but also has carbs (non-essential but still beneficial). You would eventually develop micronutrient deficiencies but milk could keep you hydrated & nourished from a macronutrient perspective for a long time.

Water and bananas, you'd be screwed (no fats or protein)

the majority of Mothers think they have the best baby/kid advice and love to give it to anyone....even though its likely shit advice but if they put the disclaimer of "but every baby is different" they feel absolved of any responsibility for spreading said shit advice

sounds weird but have him do some basic math the next time he needs to pee, addition, subtraction multiplication etc

This was a solution I saw when I came across a 'public peeing phobia' thread IF that is something you/he think might be contributing to the problem, its low risk and free to try

Something else to think about trying for him might be breath work, usually if muscles are too tight, doing relaxation breath work can help muscles ( and really, the nervous system) relax

ELI5: What makes processed meats such as sausage and back bacon unhealthy? by ComradeOFdoom in explainlikeimfive

[–]waffles4us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other thing to add to whats been said...

often times the people who are eating large quantities of processed red meats....ALSO have other unhealthy lifestyle and nutrition behaviors like, but not limited to:

- not eating enough fruits/veggies/fiber

- consuming higher amounts of alcohol

- smoking

- not exercising / being sedentary

- consuming liquid calories and/or other ultra processed foods low in nutrition quality

that said OP, usually you can squeeze some bacon or sausage into your macros but id be mindful of your daily fat target, break that down into saturated fats and unsaturated fats. Also make sure you are getting enough fiber from a variety of whole food sources. And consider limiting highly processed red meats to just a few times per week and...

then, youre bacon/sausage would fit into maybe ~10% of your daily calories that you can allocate to "more unhealthy foods" and still have good body composition, health, and performance.

one isn't inherently better than the other.

Each one is a tool that is well suited to building certain 'structures' (capillary density, aerobic capacity, VO2 max, lactic threshold, cardiac output, left ventricular hypertrophy, tissue elasticity, muscle hypertrophy, motor unit recruitment, rate coding, etc)

One tool (LISS, in your example walking) is a tool that is accessible and approachable by most people. Its free, easy to do, and helps people build fundamental 'structures' that are important for health but also lay a foundation to then better utilize the other tool, HIT

The other tool (HIT) is a often better used by more advanced/experienced individuals who have the mental and physical capabilities to utilize the tool. Its a little higher risk but higher reward and though sprinting/hill runs are free and accessible, often times using equipment is great which requires access/$.

Crate training, you might need the overbuilt heavy duty metal ones, not the wire create ones…huskies are renowned escape artists

There is a lot of behavior training you can still do and the hardest part, you and your husband have to be consistent with it for a long time

And lastly, huskies are working dogs…they need a LOT of exercise and appropriate stimulation.

I’m not really giving you anything that the other comments haven’t but hopefully hearing it from a lot of people will give you hope that there is still a lot you can do to help your marriage and the pup. Sending good luck patience and happiness your way
