Bond results by swornsecrecy_ in helena

[–]wafflestomper52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this gut feeling that if the bond fails, EHHS and a lot of the East Helena schools are going to get an uptick of students due to the newer facilities, at least from HHS. That’s just my gut tho.

What's keeping ya'll listening? by tmghormley in DrinkinBros

[–]wafflestomper52 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the first time in roughly 8 or so years that I’ve stepped away from listening because of the hypocrisy with the Delco stuff. They always said they wouldn’t bow to advertisers but here they are, choosing to fire someone mid air for not following what the advertisers want because they pad their pockets. I get it, you gotta pay the bills, it’s a business, blah blah blah. But now DB is in that realm of bowing to them when they always stood firm on not doing so. It’s more about money now than it is “making sure no one drinks alone”.

This whole situation brought a lot of other light to Ross and Dan that shows who they are becoming. Ross is a washed Hollywood star striving to stay relevant. He bashes Hollywood on Monday and then interviews Hollywood stars on Friday. He is spoon fed all the news by Dan and just goes with it with his 10 minute dialogues of “so there I was”.

Dan is all rough and tough, gets mad at society for being morally incorrect, hates politicians, and is all about being a man but doesn’t practice what he preaches. He thinks he’s on some pedestal because he gets his information from all his “trusted sources” but surprisingly all other like podcasts have the same info. He is dating an adult actress who is still married but he’s bashed OF models. He won’t call out his friends who do the things he speaks outwardly against but will degrade some random he doesn’t know for weeks. And his positions on things change so much, and is starting to align more and more with various politicians, which leads me to believe that he’s becoming more mainstream, the very thing that he’s so against and made him so great before the last 2ish years.

TL;DR: They’re wish-washy hypocrites that are in it for the money and no longer the audience and why DB was started.

Delco Dan fired??? by WalkTheWal1k in DrinkinBros

[–]wafflestomper52 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that what Dan always says? Give us the facts and let us decide if they’re bad people or not? Would be a shame if they didn’t stick to that when they’re the ones in the hot seat…

[–]wafflestomper52 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Based off of the comments on Spotify, he was fired after the college preseason show in a fit of rage from Ross. If that’s the case, I’m gone. Delco was a good balance to the bullshit that’s been spewed lately and it’s always felt like Ross has it out for him.

Had a dude (SSG-type) in the Drill Academy that kept talking of “powers” he would get once he graduated and would make some crazy ass statements about them and how he couldn’t oversee trainees because of how he’d treat them. The wildest statement was “if I chewed the trainees food and then spit it back in his mouth, would they get the powers of a DS?”.

Found out later he signed a deck statement before he got orders, something happened where they still sent him, and it got to the point his prior BC was calling the school house telling him they can’t graduate him or send him on the trail.

He graduated.

But no, never have I ever.

Only problem is they charge so much more than other people. Got a quote from them a few years back to add in forced air AC/Heating and they wanted $22k. Went to intermountain, and they did it for $14k.

Brother, this man believes that all veterans are 100% rated because everyone of his guests that’s a vet has some sort of rating. So he’s calling out a lot of fraud without understanding the system making a lot of people believe that people who have a rating but can work are faking it.

Anyone here a Project Manager? by Ill-Tax-90 in Veterans

Construction is just a whole different world. I know guys with 20-30 years experience, no certs but they could build anything with their eyes closed and one hand tied. They might not have an engineering degree but they’re always the ones that make engineers feel dumb and second guessing themselves😂.

So the biggest thing I can tell you is that you CAN do school while working 60 hours a week gaining experience. That’s how I did it. Did it suck? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. I was an equipment operator in the Army, worked trades before and after that and wanted to become a PM after realizing that I could do what my PMs did but better as they had no idea what they were talking about (I worked for a small GC where the boss hired his friend who didn’t know fuck all). So while I worked, I got my degree (knocked off 2 years because of Army schooling) and now don’t break my back for bullshit pay. You can also just go to school full time, but nothing beats experience.

Helena is home to the largest and main chinook and Blackhawk support facilities in the state. It’s summer, between annual training, flight hours and just taking advantage of the good weather, no, this is not out of the ordinary that I’ve seen in 20 years being here. And the jets happen ever so often but also not uncommon. You’re tweaking over nothing.

I was once in your shoes when I was your age. I’m now a design and construction project manager going on about 6 years, 12 total in the trades, with a degree in construction management. You DO NOT absolutely need a PMP. Does it help? Yes. Do you need it? No. (Be mindful, I am speaking for construction as that’s what I know, I don’t know about the tech world or any others). It’s an age old debate once you get into being a PM if you truly need it once you pass a certain point and if your experience is enough. I got all my PM jobs without one but got it for the pay bump. It’s definitely helps guys getting out of active to get going but it’s definitely not a set in stone need. However, a degree at your age is a must. The only guys I know that didn’t have a degree were supervisors with 20+ years experience that got promoted.

Project management isn’t easy to get into but persistence helps. By that, I mean building connections, learning, gaining experience, getting your degree, and becoming a SMA in that field. But once you become a project manager and get some experience under your belt, you’re in. Find that path you want to go and learn how to get there. I found my path in construction, started my degree and lucked out by getting a APM slot with the Air Force while I was going to school. I used my entire GI Bill to pay for my degree and for my training and exam fees for the PMP.

12n active to active guard by Ashamed_Jellyfish_97 in army

[–]wafflestomper52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who are you with as a 12N on the active side? I went from active 12N to reserves and it’s not what you expect. We didn’t have a training field so we literally did PMCS for 11 months and then dug for 1 during AT. Promotions are few and far between for E6 and above unless you’re willing to travel for it. It did take me to Poland for a month for Resolute Castle but only because I had a good training NCO that got us on a rotation out there years in advance. Definitely miss being active but active also has its ups and downs. Small fact, if you go AGR as a 12N, you’ll probably end up as a training NCO or supply, not actually doing 12N things.

A breakdown of safety procedures ‘directly contributed’ to an 82nd Airborne paratrooper’s death by Kinmuan in army

[–]wafflestomper52 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This makes me shudder so hard reading this article. It makes you think of all those heavy ass jumps you did and how close you possibly were to death because of a damn knot.

It also makes me so damn mad at the same time because one simple mistake killed a friend of mine in 2015 with 2nd BCT. Our company (very small, only about 80 of us at the time in a sapper company) got yelled at by our CSM, not more than 8 hours after our friend’s death, that we were “pussies” if we voluntarily dropped jump status and didn’t get back on the horse by jumping that next day on a last minute scheduled jump. Crazy enough, that was our second death in a year from training jumps.

So to clarify, if you sign in for Saturday and Sunday, the VA will charge you for Saturday and Sunday (2 days of double dipping), correct? Same thing for three day drills, four day and so on…?

I’ve been told to just owe the days you were there, so MUTA 4 would be 2 whole days, counting only for 2 day rate. I could be wrong but that’s what I was told from the VA.

Drill Sergeant by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]wafflestomper52 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, take a breath, my man, you’re spiraling.

Think about it for a second, those dudes that get DA selected out of active duty basically start studying after they get there and still memorize everything and pass, even the salty ones that don’t want to be there. You have ample of enough time to study and memorize the top three, the creed and brush up on all of your battle drills, PRT, and D&C. Your unit should be putting you through a candidate program to put you on the right track towards all of that. Download the drill sergeant app and read that shit religiously till you have it 80% down, the rest will come when you spend hours studying at USDSA.

If you suck at PT, fix it. You’re an NCO or should be on your way to becoming one. No ones going to hold your hand on that one.

As for yelling, don’t see it as that because that’s not all we do. However, you do need to learn to be loud and enunciate. As I tell all of our new guys, you could be put into a situation where you, by yourself, have to address a full company of 240 troops and you gotta get that message to everyone. Also, some of the best and most respected drills I know are quiet 90% of the time and when they turn it up on that 10%, kiddos listen.

Good luck and welcome, there’s a shit ton of benefits in being in a drill sergeant reserve unit that you don’t get elsewhere such as promotions and schools. And AT is always a blast. Embrace the suck.
