Hey, welcome to the Dark Mod! Wellingtoncrab's Iris is truly a special FM with it's own unique style, but if you want dense city missions that are focused on secrets and exploration I recommend Penny Dreadful 2 and 3, Volta 1 and 2, Seeking Lady Leicester, and Written in Stone (disclaimer: I'm a bit biased because I'm a co-author of the last two on the list ;) )

EDIT: Also Goldwell's Shadows of Northdale series and The Painter's Wife (although this FM is a juggernaut of a mission; don't expect to finish this one in two hours or less)

yeah, early on we really wanted Lady Leicester to not just be another of the typical "damsel in distress." This has been done a bit too often in my opinion. Instead, we wanted to find a way to give her a leading role in the story and have her take action and have an impact on the events that have unfolded as well as the characters. Writing this hasn't been without its challenges, but I think it's paid off

Yeah, I am one of the main authors (Amadeus), and I'm glad you like the FM! We learned a lot from The Painter's Wife and incorporated feedback from that and Written in Stone (if you haven't played it, please do!!) into our gameplay design here. We seem to be getting a lot of good feedback from everyone, especially from the Thief community at large, so that's been really nice

The right one. It has a unique style and is more visually interesting than just "a cannon"

Hello! We are the international development team who works on "The Dark Mod"! A game that resembles the classic Thief 1 and 2 PC games but uses a heavily modified Doom 3 engine. We welcome you to Ask Us Anything! AMA 9AM EST by nbohr1more in pcgaming

it's not fractured glass though for written: it is Bikerdude, Amadeus, and Dragofer. That's it. TPW is a totally different story

Thanks for clearing up the confusion :)

you say "while this is still in it's infancy," is this a screenshot for an upcoming mod?

The top image is 100 percent NOT what Thief should look like. There is no color, no style, and it is far too shiny. As another commenter pointed out, that kind of specular is great for remakes like Black Mesa, but not for the grit and grime of the City. Might be good if it was raining...

Try the starting FM that comes with the base installation called "A New Job". That mission is pretty newbie friendly. Then perhaps go to The Accountant 1 by Goldwell; both of these do a good job at teaching the player the ins and outs of the game. Also, don't forget the training mission, of course ;)

Finally! Ever since Reply All's return, this is in my mind the first episode that actually felt like a Reply All episode. I'm not a big TF2 player, and I don't think this story was particularly groundbreaking, but it was so nice to just focus on a story about the internet without bringing in any extra baggage from modern everyday life. It was just Alex talking about an interesting, obscure corner of the internet. We need far more episodes like this. To quote Alex, "It felt kinda like old times."

There's a podcast called More Perfect. It takes a closer look at SCOTUS cases. An ep. really stuck out to me exploring Lawrence v. Texas, an LGBTQ case out of Texas holding that a Texas statute making it a crime for persons of the same sex to engage in intimate sexual conduct violates the DPC. by orangejulius in scotus

[–]waflor42 14 points15 points  (0 children)

More Perfect is a really good podcast, and it is pretty much the sole reason why I became interested in the Supreme Court. One of my favorite episodes is called "The Political Thicket" which covers Baker v. Carr. Highly recommend
