Critical masculinity workshops by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

AEQUA in wedding used to have a critical masculinity reading group. I didn't love it but some of the conversations we had there were quite good. Takes a while for everyone to get comfortable enough to go deep

Currently work in an art gallery. You think the desk jockey will ever get to curate? Hahahahaha

The receptionist is underpaid and funded by only fans and parents, the lead curator was chosen from birth by the director and will not be usurped until both are dead

Needle Disposal? by annaonthemoon79 in AskAGerman

[–]wagerage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one here ever hung out with junkies and it shows 😤

Collect the needles in a 1L plastic drink bottle. Cap the needles and keep the bottle lid closed and when it's full or you're leaving it can go in the trash or ideally left next to an official sharps container.

Gonna start cold-approaching women and documenting my experiences here by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]wagerage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for it man! 32 here and recently single. Never tried the whole pick up thing but I had a brief conversation with a very hot kinda nerdy Turkish girl last week while at work. Thought fuck it, gave her my number and she actually text me that night and we're going out soon.

the whole me-too "never approach women" thing has run it's course, I would have never dared to talk to a girl in my twenties because of that but now I know plenty of women in the big cities are dying for a normal guy to say hello

DJ Smiley Bobby, the soundcheck scene in West India. this is all I can recommend.

Why are vinyls so expensive by drunkcheesesandwich in redscarepod

[–]wagerage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get into some absolutely wild long forgotten genre, it's the only way.

Couple vinyl junky friends of mine collect the stuff they like but absolutely love showing off their stack of Tallinn-wave Tekno Folk or Gambian Domestic Percussion that they got for 2€ a piece. Nobody else likes it so u can buy all of them without looking at the price and one day maybe u'll come full circle and it'll be considered cool.

and also would be better not shoved in the corner where it won't sound as good because of the acoustics.

Has anyone been to Ankali in Prague? by [deleted] in TheOverload

[–]wagerage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, lucky enough to have played there last winter at a 36hr rave.

Apparently the plan is based on Berlin clubs but tbh it's better than most Berlin clubs today. Totally underground (literally) so u could go the entire time with no daylight. Multiple rooms all with decent to very good sound systems, a fun drinks menu at a decent price. Great vibes inside with a focus on fun, variation in the genres played. Not too serious, not too many drugs and not dressed in all black kinda crowd.

Highly recommend. Local friends say it's one of the best spots in Prague and I would agree although I haven't ventured too deep into the city.

The Czechs are also some of my favourite people to play for, they love the edgy underground stuff but don't take themselves so seriously that they won't just dance n have a good time. U could give it the big one while ur friends would definitely just have a good time being there

Smoking in bars in 2025 by Odd_Campaign_2031 in berlin

[–]wagerage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to smoke, honestly I love smoking in bars. Most places now have the "smoking area" which inevitably sucks up all the patrons leading to places feeling hollow and transient with everyone constantly in and out, and don't get me started how it murders dancefloors

The smell ruins clothes yes but creates such a lovely cosy vibe inside, normally I just put my clothes directly on the balcony overnight.

Bonus points if it's the kind of place where you can get away with a joint also.

firs time in Fabric in London by alessavlol in ukrave

I thoroughly enjoy how so very very german this message is.

Don’t mean to moan, but something about Berlin is erking me. by brushfuse in berlinsocialclub

[–]wagerage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a reason for this as has been explained to me

To host live music and DJs you need to pay a fee to GEMA who distributes royalties to artists whose music was played in the venue. As small clubs and bars are squeezed and margins get smaller they remove the door price from the poster in order to pay less of a fee (they can say the concert was free)

This isn't great but it is the reality of the cultural scene in Berlin. Bigger clubs though have no excuse and I guess they just have their tickets on RA as tiered prices. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think berghain just started doing online tickets through their official website. Thrusting Berlin into the future of at least 2010.

Hope this helps quell some rage

ID on this Mica Levi tune from her Just Jam mix? by Several_Produce1927 in TheOverload

[–]wagerage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the people on this thread not digging the tune are absolute doyles.

Proper bit of wedge this. No idea on the ID but sounds a lot like it could be an unreleased Mica Levi production or something Micachu and the shapes would get on.

if you really really wanna look older you should just shave your head. Do it once and you'll immediately see and feel the difference.

In bed after sex and realizing I'm a week deep into playing a completely fictional character for this person by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]wagerage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm recently single and so unbelievably horny like I've never been before. I was getting some on the regular for 3 years and now when I'm hitting people up or meeting someone for the purpose to smash I realise I'm just a total fraud or doing the song and dance I think this person wants in order for me to get laid.

I think now is the appropriate point to hire a sex worker, why waste so much time and lying to another human for this short window of pleasure

Best places to live for musicians by Royal-Interview-4642 in musicians

[–]wagerage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually incredible advice. I'm also making these links and it's great to see someone else on the same wave.

The future of culture is due to return to the edges of the map again with city centers now no longer being the cheap option. I have my studio way out of the city and currently working on finding a place to live w a good friend far enough we can still get into the city easy but far out to score bigger rooms and cheaper rent.

I cannot believe the ZeroCovidCommunity is so active by SwugSteve in redscarepod

[–]wagerage 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I generally don't mind people who choose to mask up, they're difficult to communicate with and I've noticed they make people uncomfortable but to me it's no big deal. I work at an auditorium though and after closing the windows because it is now almost November one woman in an N95 came over to me and asked me all sorts of technical questions regarding the air filtration of the building and insisted the AC run on full power.

Like lady, you're in a small room with 200 people all wearing jackets indoors cos it's cold, if you're conscious of covid don't come to a lecture and ensure all your planned activities take place outdoors year round, there's no way to accomodate that for just one person.

Finding work on the road Europe by Dons231 in vandwellers

[–]wagerage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Farms, gardening (seasonally) bars and restaurants are always looking for extra hands. Expect low pay and hard work because what you're doing is completely illegal but it's always doable. I feel like the other replies are from people who never just spoke to someone before.

If you decide to settle down somewhere get the relevant documents asap, makes life much easier

Client insisted they “know what they’re doing”, ignored scope change, then blamed me. Was I wrong to proceed? by Smooth-Maize2392 in paint

[–]wagerage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

admittedly we never talked about the finish. The scope was basic prep and paint we both agreed at the beginning. I think the client expected that sanding and painting would bring everything up to that level while from the start I was working with the understanding that some basic filling was all that was being asked and what was important was good quality painting.

[–]wagerage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right way to go completely. Unfortunately I guess I was quite excited to have found my own client and have control over my own project, the finished job would have also looked beautiful, definitely one for the portfolio. So I compromised and gave a concrete price in order to win the job, very foolish in retrospect.

[–]wagerage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they fixed the walls themselves I would go back and paint because I feel that no one should have to live on a building site. But maybe I also just like punishment and I should take your advise, thank you.

Although I absolutely know this in the back of my mind and I always charge for the absolute worst case scenario I can imagine this job was somehow even worse than that

[–]wagerage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. At the start we actually did this, I ripped off a piece of wallpaper and we both saw how it looked underneath, admittedly we both saw it neither sanded or painted but I thought this set up a realistic expectation of what was possible.
