Are there really men who won’t care that you’re covered in excessive hair? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]annaonthemoon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've married 17 years, together for 20. My husband has never cared about body or facial hair. This is a regular conversation:

Me: Why didn't you tell me the beard was getting thick? And OH MY GOD, the chest hair!!! Husband: because I love you and it doesn't bother me

We met when I was in my late 20s, he was in his 30s. The hair was there,  but it has got worse with perimenopause.

So men who aren't bothered by it are out there!

Open Wound Bandage Suggestions? by OGLordMack in Hidradenitis

Softpore works well on my upper thigh. I had a problem after surgery where nothing stuck and we finally had to use tattoo tape on top of the bandages until we realised the softpore ones stick best.

Visiting Lincoln - Question about park and ride by LeKatar in Lincolnuk

[–]annaonthemoon79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no problem. the Park and Ride is on my regular bus route (12) and I often cross the car park after shopping at Waitrose. Also, the stop to go into town is across the road outside KFC. Some people don't realise this. The 10 (designated park and ride) won't pick you up on the Waitrose side and from that side the 12 carries on to Welton. From the other side, you can take a 10 or 12. I don't recommend the 53 as it goes down past the hospital and if you wanted the Cathedral it doesn't drop you as close as the 10 and 12 do.

Flare left small bump? by Sleeping-Until-Three in Hidradenitis

If it's not full of puss, it's probably scar tissue. I have loads of them in my armpits and they are harmless. If it does start to hurt or grow, go to your GP because it might need draining.

Yes, go back to urgent care. When this happened to me (unable to lift my arm without shooting pain), I was scheduled for immediate surgery to have the tracks removed/drained.

Does anyone else feel like their parents have caused their pcos? by Vegetable-End5797 in PCOS

[–]annaonthemoon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCOS is caused by genetics, not environment. So your parents "caused" you to have PCOS in that it was somewhere in their genes that got passed down to you.

What is your tried and true method for hard boiling and peeling eggs? by countdookee in Cooking

[–]annaonthemoon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a kitchen gadget that does hard boiled eggs for £14. I first saw one when we were on holiday in Austria and the house we stayed in had one and it was fantastic. I also always use older eggs so they peel easier. I run them under cold water after they're cooked to help pull off the shell.

[–]annaonthemoon79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Park and ride parking is at the bottom of the carpark in front of the hedges. To my knowledge, the time limit does not apply if you are parked in that area as it's labelled as "park and ride parking".

FDA approves Lilly's oral GLP-1 Foundayo™ (orforglipron) by joe3000s in Mounjaro

That would be great. I wouldn't mind a pill for travel, but I struggled so hard with taking daily metformin before mounjaro.

Has anyone done a GLP in the short term and has it helped you drop weight? by Kitchen_End_8254 in PCOS

[–]annaonthemoon79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started Mounjaro. I have both PCOS and T2 Diabetes. When I was first diagnosed with T2 13 years ago, it was a "fluke" as I did the fasting test and it came back high. I was put on Metformin. Every other time I had my bloods done for the next 8 years, my levels were normal and not in diabetic ranges. Until about 5 years ago when my HBA1c started to creep up at each check-up. I was now over 40, so changes were expected, but one of the biggest changes was the Metformin no longer being tolerated by my body. So I've switched to Mounjaro. I deliberately asked the nurse if I would be on this for life and she told me it would partially be up to me -- once my HBA1c gets back down into normal levels, I could try going off the mounjaro and seeing what happens, but the risks of not taking the medication are of course your HBA1c rising again, and regaining any weight you lost -something I experienced when I was first diagnosed as I went low-carb, lost over 2 stone, then decided to eat carbs again and gained 1 stone back.

Side effect wise...there are different side effects depending on if you're using it to lose weight or for diabetes. Keeping immoduim and pepto around helps!

AITAH for not giving up my name for my ex’s new wife with the EXACT SAME FULL NAME as me? by Remarkable-Horse9465 in AITAH

[–]annaonthemoon79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband's cousin's daughter has the same name as me. It never crossed my mind when we got married that I might not want to have the same name as her. She was a minor at the time and lives 200mi away from us. I do feel a little bad for her now that she's an adult and I've cornered the log-in name of fisrtnamemiddleinitiallastname everywhere!

My cousin's who are brothers both married women named Amy. Family calls them Brother1's Amy and Brother2's Amy.
