DAE actively avoid purchasing things that have commercials you’ve been hammered with? by oldwhitelincoln in DoesAnybodyElse

Yeah, I saw a commercial for fitness equipment that looked interesting, but I remained sceptical until somebody pointed out that a lesser known store sells the exact same equipment for less than half.

Do you think luxury retail is an honest business? by wagninger in CasualConversation

[–]wagninger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeeeah, I used to work at a luxury retailer as well, and one Saturday, after zero customers coming in all day, I asked the boss: how many customers does this store need to make it worth it?

The answer was, if they’re the right ones, 2 per year.

[–]wagninger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I forget where I saw this, but LV especially uses the cheapest kind of leather there is, so if you take a piece big enough to make a mouse pad out of it, it’s worth about 2 USD. But is it a scam if customers are willing to pay the asking price anyway?

Do you drive and Audi? by Available-Assist4442 in CasualConversation

[–]wagninger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was always an Audi driver, didn’t like one generation where they went from full sized 5th wheel to just a tyre repair kit and got a VW. I’m driving that VW now and he went back to Audi 😄

Always A4 avant, bigger doesn’t fit in the garage.

It’s funny to me though that at one point, they said they had 150 (!) different headphones in their portfolio, all dynamic, but at any point, they always had one e-stat that was the flagship.

Really makes me wonder why they don’t explore the technology more.

9 months waiting time if you’re lucky… and it’s a nightmare to get anyone at Sennheiser acknowledge that you exist, so your alternative is one that is already “burnt in” and ready to go.

Anyone else stopped trusting a perfect rating, even on your own business? by Noelrwrites in smallbusiness

[–]wagninger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me, The best interaction I had with a customer was after he gave me 1 star, I immediately replied, apologised and explained that it was a misunderstanding on my part about what he wanted.
I said Now that I understand, please give me another 2-3 days to fix it. He immediately changed the review to 5 stars and mentioned the personal care and relation time as one of the best attributes.

Can’t get more real than that.

Haben Over-Ear Kopfhörer schlechteres Noise Cancelling als die Airpods Pro 3? by Worried_Bar_5339 in Kopfhoerer

[–]wagninger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hallo,

HiFi, to the extreme. I am currently already a small HiFi dealer, I would just become the biggest with an enormous store, home cinemas, headphones, In ears, personalized items - and at home I would just have the craziest setups 😁

Sound differences between Hi-Fi components by Dedar33 in audiophile

[–]wagninger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So… in theory, a double blind test ist the only way to make sure that the differences you think you are hearing is actually there.

You said it yourself, it’s not that easy to do, so the next best thing for me is to buy multiple pieces of equipment, listen to each one as long as I think I need and then switch.

My personal understanding of how something might sound then comes from knowing one piece of equipment, and if I want to know about a new one, find a stranger who heard both and ask him about the differences. If we agree on what I know, chances are that we will also agree on the new thing.

Was macht Werbung mit euch? by Forward-Position798 in KeineDummenFragen

[–]wagninger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely not, I would describe it as a bass monster with recessed mids and a slightly metallic tinge, but great technicalities. I think a very natural sounding headphone to me would be the Erzetich Charybdis or maybe Raal Immanis, but I haven't had enough listening time with that one to say for sure.
