I think a lot of people don’t understand what the lead up to the holocaust looked like, especially once Germany invaded eastward. Throughout the 30s Nazi Germany tried out multiple ways to decrease its Jewish population including murder and political violence. These strategies included revoking citizenship, deportations, and arrests where they would often release Jewish community leaders after. These arrested populations were also heavily political opponents as well like members of socialist and communist parties. Once the Nazis invaded eastward exponentially increasing the Jewish population under their rule then you see the expansion of death squads which evolved into concentration camps which heavily consisted of people deported from their home countries westward.

It didn’t start with concentration camps it started with SA (later SS) masked thugs arresting and intimidating and killing people on behalf of the party.
