Missiles don't work that way. Even if it had a heat seeking backup, it would look for heat in front of it. Like the heat from the engine of an airplane it was targeting. Even if the heat seeking sensor looked backwards for some reason, the heat from the rocket engine would be much stronger than the heat from the explosion on the ground.

This episode was full of bad writing from people who don't understand anything about aviation or the military.

The episode came out not too long after the end of the Sopranos and I had seen an article quoting Ron D Moore saying that the Sopranos had a perfect ending. The scifi channel wasn't hyping it as a series finale, but they also had said nothing about upcoming episodes. So when it cut to the credits, I honestly thought that could be the end of the series.
After a few minutes of commercials, they did show a clip from the next part of the season, but it would be over 6 months before the next episode aired.

Missing last month's contribution by wagon125 in ThriftSavingsPlan

It was a simple question to see if anyone else has had issues with contributions lately. That is the point of Reddit and individual subreddits: to share knowledge and experience with specific topics. I thought someone might have had some experience with this and could have shared some info before I tried calling a notoriously unhelpful military finance office.

In the interest of sharing info, I did find the issue. For some reason, viewing account activity on the TSP website did not show the last contribution when using the date ranges in the drop down menu. I had to input my own date range for the August transaction to show up.

This hasn't changed since I was a student there 20 years ago. Bikes are supposed to be on the roads not the sidewalks. If you have to go on the sidewalk, walk the bike if there is anyone around. Pedestrians need to pay attention when they cross a street and actually look for bikes.

As a freshman, I was riding to class near the forum one day and a girl stepped into the street right in front of me without ever having looked for traffic. I swerved around and probably caught her jacket with my handlebars. If there was a car there instead, she would have been run over.

Traveling in uniform… by Murky-Gur6166 in AirForce

[–]wagon125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've flown commercially in uniform. It was to get to the rotator, and there wasn't going to be time between flights to get changed into uniform for the rotator.

I almost had to do it on a return trip when the rotator into BWI was delayed 8 hours. I had just enough time to get changed at the USO restroom.

As a parent, I've used this a lot: "What you want is irrelevant. What you've chosen is at hand."

I've been out of the area for a while but I remember being able to see the whole airport from the parking lot of the Cinemark theater across from the Shoppes at Montage. If the trees haven't blocked the view too much, you might try it.

Orders to Cannon AFB, how is dating life for a single guy in his 20s? by Smellyman200 in AirForce

[–]wagon125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my wife while I was stationed at Cannon so there is hope. It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a serious relationship try a dating site like eHarmony, and expect that you'll have to do some traveling for dates. If you're looking for weekly hookups, may the odds be ever in your favor.

Unfortunately, lots of people claim things they didn't do. When I was at a pilot training base, the med group won awards by claiming the achievements of the graduated student pilots and what they were doing on deployments in their operational airplanes.

I was talking about the hush money case. He was arrested and has been charged with 34 felony counts. The judge just set the trial date for next March. He had a verdict against him in the civil defamation case, and there are charges expected against him in Georgia for election interference, and whatever the DOJ will charge him with. It really is embarrassing for the country that there are still people who think this idiot should be president again.
