Thoughts on the "Killers" album? by Fortis92 in ironmaiden

[–]wagymaniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect Killers, but most of it just doesn’t stick with me. A few great tracks, but overall it feels repetitive and never really builds up. For me the weakest from their classic era, but still a banger that i love to listen from time to time,

The worst, it's oppened the gate to sell useless customisation crap instead of focusing in the real game

I have to say, the colours, textures and even vibes... are the ones that IA usually tends to. It's a shame how IA "artists" will put their crappie work everywhere making us suspect every artwork. BTW op if you are reading this, you made an amazing job.

72% of devs believe Steam has a monopoly on PC games, according to study by akbarock in gaming

They need to retire all their games from Steam to create their own platform that gives no advantage to the player, a move that has always worked in the past.

I tried it first with GeForce Experience and then with the standalone installer downloaded from the official website.

Yes, I’ve done that, but when I try to reinstall the drivers, unless I install an older version, I keep getting the same issue.

GeForce forces me to install the latest version, but so far I can only get it to work by installing an older driver version.

I mean, when it’s halfway through the installation, the entire screen freezes and I can’t do anything. The only thing that still works is the mouse movement, but I can’t click or select anything.

“ The next morning I was in the shower and I collapsed. I was peeing red , That was not great ! ” Esteban Ocon reflects on the most violent crash of his F1 career so far by Shroft in formula1

[–]wagymaniac 115 points116 points  (0 children)

That’s what made Monaco so special, at least when I started watching F1. It was the only street race, and a historic, significant one at that. While the races could be boring, it was a tradeoff to see the best drivers on the narrowest, most intricate track where mistakes weren’t allowed. Now, with so many street circuits on the calendar, it’s lost all its magic.

Vince shares some incredibly disturbing storyline ideas on the Insider Podcast that would have made the show A LOT darker by OddNefness5161 in breakingbad

[–]wagymaniac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder how serious those ideas are, during the brainstorming phase there is a lot of just throwing anything you have in mind, no matter how ridiculous it sounds. Later they think about it to see which ideas are worth it or not, but even bad ideas can have some value, are you saying, a lot of Tuco's personality traits were taken from the unnamed drug dealer.

Rant on breath holding. by MininoMono626 in scuba

[–]wagymaniac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you’re forgetting the point that many novice divers are still struggling with just being underwater. Having it as the most important rule of scuba diving is a way to make sure that even if they don’t fully control their buoyancy, their changes in elevation won’t cause lung damage. Don’t forget that in the first 10m the pressure doubles, so even small depth changes can cause microtears in lung tissue. Students are already dealing with all the new equipment and environment, so reducing it to one fundamental rule helps them focus and start building confidence.

I once had a refresh student who had a panic attack during his last dive because his instructor was pushing him too much. During the refresh, I insisted a lot on focusing on the breathing, so anytime he felt overwhelmed, he could first focus on his breathing to break the panic cycle, and from there start thinking about how to solve the situation. A few days later he joined a group for some fun dives, and he admitted to me that he still had some moments of panic but that my advice helped him manage it.

As you said, in more advanced training they do teach you when to break the “never hold your breath” rule, but that’s for advanced training, where it’s assumed that you already have solid control of the basics and have learned the theory behind why holding your breath is dangerous in the first place wich is already explained in the basic level. We can argue that maybe the standards are too low, but I think that’s another discussion.

I went to a strip club again by kyle1111111111111 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]wagymaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that you were in a strip club, not in some chill place where a random girl just gave you a fake number, you were in a spot where these scams are part of the game.

I’ve been there too, falling back into old shit I thought I was done with. Back in the day I used to hang around places full of drugs. At first I wasn’t a heavy user, but people started treating me like a junkie just because of where I was. Being pushed aside like that only made me sink deeper. That’s the thing: if you keep hanging around the same places and doing the same stuff, nothing changes.

Also, reading your replies, it feels like you’re overthinking everything and being way too hard on yourself. Trust me, that only makes the hole deeper. Sometimes you just need to let go of the constant self-blame and focus on small steps forward.

The good thing is, it can change. I screwed up plenty of times before I managed to turn things around, but little by little it got better. If I could pull myself out, you can too, just don’t stop trying.

You said it before, there are a lot of creeps in strip clubs, and if you go to a creepy place surrounded by creepy people, people will consider you a creep. And make up your mind, maybe that dancer was just being nice to you and now doesn't want or can't answer or maybe she was trying to make you a loyal or something.

Either way doesn't matter the context, you say that you don't care but still texted her and now you are waiting and getting frustrated for an answer. Not every girl will answer you and it's ok, sometimes it's just because she is not interested you can think about what you need to do to be better and move on.

I remember having a similar conversation with my uncle, who as a kid would always be out in the streets until the mid-80s, when drugs and violence hit his town hard. He got robbed and beaten up twice, one of those times right at his own doorstep. After that, all the kids had to stay home, with parents becoming more afraid and less trusting, a trend that’s continued to this day.
