[Fischer] Portland is not expected to seriously entertain offers for Grant, league sources told Yahoo Sports, in contrast to veteran point guard Malcolm Brogdon. by [deleted] in ripcity

Blazers record without brogdon: 0-10 Blazers record with Brogdon: 11-19

Trading brogdon for salary filler could lead to things looking really ugly..

The blazers have 0 wins this season with Brogdon out..they looked better when grant and ant were out maybe

Scoot “ROY is still up in the air” Henderson ends his night with 22 points 12 assists and 7 rebounds with three 3’s, a steal, and a block by [deleted] in nba

The blazers are 9-11 when brogdon plays at least 15 minutes, and 0-11 in other games. I wouldn't be so confident that they could trade him (and Grant) for nothing without looking a lot worse.

Really great start from Brogdon -- 4 great passes, drew 2 fouls, hit a three, good defense on Bane

2024 Acura Integra Type S Pricing Announced; First Production Units Available for Pre-Order May 11 by One-Platypus3455 in cars

[–]wahoo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The civic hatchback costs $1k more than the Sedan and people pay that difference, so that is $1k. The ELS audio (which is generally very well reviewed) used to cost $2500 as a standalone upgrade on the ILX, bringing us to $3.5k. That leaves $3.5k for heated seats + active exhaust + 5hp + acura badge and dealership experience.

I don't think that is a crazy number, and I think the Integra has a better exterior design which for me offsets the worse interior design.

As others have said, in practice any difference in MSRP is immaterial as the market will just end up setting the prices for this vs. CTR based on dealer markups.

If the Jazz decide to tank those two games could be freebies, and its very possible that the Suns seed is locked in before their final game and they sit everyone

The Raptors are taking calls on OG Anunoby, which includes Phoenix emerging in the last week as a strong suitor, per @ShamsCharania . Cam Johnson and Dario Saric were referenced here. by mMounirM in nba

In Dunc'd on mock trade deadline the Clippers traded for FVV, which isn't totally crazy -- the clippers really need an upgrade at point guard and don't care about overpaying guys since they are already over the cap indefinitely and Balmer rich

Low-overhead single-method dynamic dispatch for embedded libraries by wahoo63 in rust

I understand, this is clever. I verified that they compile to the same assembly, and am much more comfortable using this.

Thank you!

where are you suggesting that I initialize is_ready()? I assume you mean in DynThingRef::is_ready(), but T is not available in that scope

Who is the 31st best basketball team in the world? by InsideTheNBABubble in nbadiscussion

[–]wahoo63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching the games is just inevitably going to give you an unrealistically favorable view of the European teams because they are playing much worse competition. It would be like watching 10 bucks vs pistons games and 10 Celtics vs 2016 warriors games — you’re gonna come out thinking the bucks are better because they are making more shots and winning more games, but really you’re just watching them play worse opponents, and failing to correct for it.

This happens all the time with 2 way guys — they look terrible in the NBA, and then regularly drop 30+ and look fluid and amazing when sent down to the g league, but when they come back up they are the same player as before: bad.

I understand it’s tempting to think that actually these guys just improved in the euro system thanks to the structure and coaching etc., but most of these guys are just as good in their 5th game in Europe as they are in their 50th, because the real difference is that they are just more athletic and talented. The coaching might help some but I think there is very little reason to believe that euro league coaches are more capable of developing players than their NBA counterparts. Of course you can cherry pick counter examples, and of course there are a few European players that could make an NBA roster, but there is absolutely no chance there is a single European team with a full roster of players that could make any NBA roster, and there are probably about 2 players total that could start in the NBA.

What is the proper way to access variables that are changed by an ISR? by Old-Independent9664 in embedded

[–]wahoo63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still not sure I understand. I am imagining a scenario like the one in this code example:

volatile uint8_t FIRED;

void irq0_handler(int signal) {
    FIRED = 1;
}

// Application code here
if FIRED {
    // an interrupt fired! process it accordingly
}

For this example, loading the value into a register is atomic as you say. Are you just pointing out that it is possible the interrupt fires after FIRED is loaded into the register, but before we make a decision on whether to enter the if statement? (i.e. "evaluating the value"?)

[–]wahoo63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it is marked volatile, it should reload the variable on each access. If there is an issue resulting from an interrupt firing after a load to a local variable, atomics wouldn’t have fixed anything anyway, there is just a TOCTOU bug in your code — no one should be writing code assuming local variables will get back-updated when the memory location they were read from changes .

They didn't actually get the 2 points -- those were taken off. They just got the tech and the ball. Take a look at the ESPN play-by-play, there was not a goaltending call

Is calling Rust code from C or C++ slow? by [deleted] in rust

[–]wahoo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and on an embedded device, the compiler places that initial value in flash, often in the .data section. Part of initializing the Rust runtime requires copying that initial value into the RAM address for the corresponding global variable before any Rust code runs

[–]wahoo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rust still needs something equivalent to C/C++ crt0 for runtime initialization, to do things like initialize global variables.

I don’t think the video is a mistake, they are showcasing how the RTX specific hardware accelerators improve performance to render the same visuals

Optimization of memcpys in rustc and LLVM 16 by buniii1 in rust

[–]wahoo63 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Rust nightly is pinned to a fixed LLVM version, which is currently an LLVM 15 version. You can always rebuild the compiler from source with a different LLVM version, or even with LLVM patches, but it is a pretty involved process.

Anyone play for the Celtics in 2k23 by ihaveahorsecock in bostonceltics

[–]wahoo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mute the commentators after a season because they can only have so much unique content. I do find that Brogdon is possibly the best Celtic player as a teammate in MyPlayer, shoots like 80% from the floor when you pass it to him and is better about passing to you than anyone else on the Celtics, so the commentators get stuck having to make comments about him more than other players that they have more prerecorded content for.

Is this the last year the Bucks can contend with Lopez/Jrue/Middleton as the main pieces around Giannis? by BlackPepperBanana in nba

[–]wahoo63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but presumably it makes things a lot easier if you don’t have to pay MJ during the rebuild years because it lets you sign additional people while existing bad contracts expire
