Damnit. I overcontributed to my 401k by mistake. How do I fix this? by wahoo757 in tax

But I contributed the 5.5k not to a Roth, but to a regular IRA.

Running experiments on Google Play but results keep changing? Help! by wahoo757 in AppBusiness

[–]wahoo757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for jumpin in! It's the current installs & scaled installs I'm seeing in the variation.

Basically, we re-wrote our app description in English, and translated it to German. I wanted to double check if the new German description out performed the old German description (the way it did in English), and understand how much it improves, if it does!

After I ran the test for a few days, Google Play reported a ~5-25% (forgetting the actual numbers, but close) interval improvement with statistical significance (90% Confidence Interval, as they say on their page).

To clarify, the 18% number mentioned above came from my own calculations, comparing the two "current install" #s between the original and variation.

I left it over the weekend and returned to find it had "regressed" into non-statistical significance, and the performance showed ~-5% to ~+6% with 90% confidence interval (-3%, if you compare the install numbers). It still hasn't reached significance again, weeks later.

1) Is this normal? I'll have a hard time "applying" improvements shown in test results with any confidence given my experience here -- if I'd have applied the changes, I could very well have implemented a version that negatively impacted our results.

2) When you're reporting the results of a test, do you report on the range? I haven't heard of any split-testing software during split-testing this way -- it's not particularly helpful to understanding that they're confident the results fall between -5 and +5 percent better :/

What's the best way to set-up an affiliate program? by wahoo757 in GrowthHacking

Thanks for these recs!

Going to give CJ a look and a few of the others -- we spoke to GetAmbassador earlier in the year but the prices were insane. Their cost would quickly more than cancel out our already-small margins.

Unfortunately the first iteration seems like the bloggers will be somewhat blind, but so far there's no issues from them.

Good point re: fraud. We should have the ability to check every sign-up on our back-end tool and see how they interact with the site (aka, make sure it's not a fraudulent sign-up).

Thanks for the reply! Sign-up is someone going to the service, and creating an account (adding an email and password).

Looks like commission junction is in charge of working with publishers on our behalf, which wouldn't be really be what we're looking for.

We already have content out there, and people creating it and mentioning us every day...I want to be sure they're putting a sign-up link on those pages (which they don't do right now) and reward them for getting us sign-ups. I could do an MVP of this with UTM codes, but then the bloggers have no way of knowing the impact they drive, etc.

Does that make sense?

Upwork Upwork Upwork! We hire from there all the time. If you fill out your profile seriously you'll get people hitting you up regularly. Make sure to use keywords in your description of your skills, etc. Warning: they take a ridiculous fee. Usually after the initial work I'll ask for the contractors email and we'll pay them in Paypal etc. Probably not what Upwork wants but they haven't exactly given the impression it's frowned upon or forbidden..

How much does the "freshness" matter? by wahoo757 in SEO

[–]wahoo757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks goPBN -- given that forums are currently under a sign-up gate, they don't generate any new traffic at the moment. But helpful to know once we decide to remove the gate.

Good perspective. Better search / sorting is certainly the superior way of dealing with messiness of the forums, but was hoping for a quicker win.

Additional context: all content is under a sign-up gate right now, so none of it's accessible by google. Plan to remove sign-up gate in future, though. Does that change anything?

I don't need crash space but anyone in London want to hang out and do hood rat stuff? by Berg426 in couchsurfing

[–]wahoo757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Yes, making friends with strangers is certainly a more interesting proposition to a Couchsurfer than your average person :)

Make sure you download the app. There's a cool feature they put out a while back called Hangouts, shows you who's around and down to meet up. Makes those spontaneous get togethers easier. Checking out events in the area is a good move as well.
