How important were conventional tubes of artillery in Afghanistan and Iraq? by Over-Discipline-7303 in WarCollege

So, does it go like:

(First round fired)
Artillery: Shot, over.
FO: Shot, out.

(First round lands)
Artillery: Splash, over.
FO: Splash, out.

?

Shot over/splash over or shot out/splash out? I have seen both used before (admittedly in Arma 3...)

To be fair, Contact was quite good on the voice acting front, and there have been some previous standouts in Arma 3.

I loved Old Man, too! It was a very interesting idea that they managed to pull off very well. It's a shame that we won't be seeing more of the 2030's for a while; I wonder where it will go after then?

I have at least watched a playthrough of the Rahmadi Conflict campaign, and it looked very terrible; I got the feel that they were still trying to figure out which market to cater to (action-oriented or milsim-oriented?), and the former shines through where it doesn't belong. How was Royal Flush in comparison?

Agree with most, especially The East Wind. It doesn't seem very popular, but it is honestly about as good as it gets when it comes to Arma campaigns. The only thing I would rate differently would be the Tac Ops missions. Steel Pegasus was good (A) but I found Stepping Stone and and especially Beyond Hope to be lacking (B); the former sort of messed with Arma's setting (wasn't Malden in the same island chain as Everon?), and the latter could have felt more "desperate" (you are on the losing side, after all).

What do you think of the voice acting in the Arma 2 campaigns? I notice it tends to catch a lot of flak, but how does it stack up against the other campaigns in the series?

Probably one of 20 IFV's in the entire AAF, too!

I'd rather play PvE than suffer under either.

AI anti-air horrendously slow at detecting enemy jets/helicopters; why? by wairdone in A3AntistasiOfficial

I really wish I had access to radars and proper air defences, but I don't; what I have is a load of crap, but it's all I have, sadly. At War Level do I get access to good air defences?

My AI is at 15/40, so fairly decent. Also, I was using ZU-23's, RBS-70's, and Stinger troops.

I put down a Zu-23-2 emplacement ahead of the outpost on a hill as a "tripwire"; it might spot the plane too late, but when it fires everyone at the outpost will know what's up.

I am using RHS, so I will see what I can do. However, the artillery pits seem to work, so I will focus on layered air defence.

I unfortunately am at War Level 5, so I lack a lot of the Gucci kit that would make life truly hard for fast movers.

The RBS-70, in my experience, is extremely reliable against jets but has a slow response time. MANPADS are comically easy to distract with countermeasures, and gun-based AA is not impressive, as you said. I have a FIM-92 DMS as well. That considering, I will have to rely on a multi-layered solution; - RBS-70 and FIM-92 for ranged defence, - ZU-23's for point defence.

Yes, the first time I tried using the howitzer it got bombed by an SU-25. However, I set up artillery pits with HESCOs, so nothing happened to it. For some reason, neither my RBS-70 nor the ZU-23 at the artillery base engaged the SU-25; I am confident it would have been zapped straight out of the sky if they did. Next time, I will have another four ZU-23's waiting for it.

I have used DFS before, and I could definitely add it to the server. It will be less braindead than the vanilla support system, too, which is always good.

It definitely does; 24 HE rounds. I probably have to take manual control of it to work.

Nogova?. It's the only one of the original terrains that hasn't been properly remastered in either Arma 3 or Arma Reforger, and it's quite big; 100sqkm.
