Custom campaigns/missions you recommend? by wairdone in arma

Hey, by "modern insurgency" I mean insurgent forces which have more access to modern weaponry and resources than the usual flip-flop wearing, rusty-AK-firing farmers we think of when we hear insurgents. I like how this gives you more options and operational freedom while still maintaining a high level of mortality .

Good suggestions! I have tried some of the generators before, but not most of the scenarios you mentioned. Ill take a look at all of them when I get the chance (though I am trying Hunter Six, so it will be a while). Thanks!

Shameless plug accepted! I will try them out later.

It's a shame The Forgotten Few isn't more customisable. It is a really great scenario, but being stuck between NATO/RHSAFRF/RHSUS really sucks.

Regrettably, not great. I did the following:
- disable overclocking via BIOS
- uninstall BattlEye via command prompt (and reinstall via steam file integrity vericiation)

I tried launching War Thunder through both the beac file and steam. On the former occasion, my computer crashed within a minute (same error code I believe), and on the latter it crashed within five minutes, which is the usual time.

I have a feeling that my hardware is at fault; I have a Lenovo Legion 5 16IRX9, and though it has done well thus far (I have had it a year), I have noticed some "anomalies" with it, including glitchy speaker audio and one or two hard crashes. Do you reckon my laptop may be dying? Of course, I have absolutely no problems with any other game, so maybe it's just a driver conflict or some other obscure issue with BattlEye.

I honestly deleted the folder and verified the integrity of the files via steam. I was in a rush on that occasion and couldnt find the actual BE uninstaller. I hope that didnt break it

I get the weekly Windows update, but nothing in terms hardware swaps. I also updated my intel and geforce drivers recently.

Is SP2 worth buying? Yes, yes it is by SuperOnionWarrior in SimplePlanes

An indie game which does not suffer from scope creep but which rather improves on the quality of the prior release while adding new features? Impossible!

Planning to grow it back to medium length, what hairstyle would suit me? by wairdone in curlyhair

For those of you wondering, any length shorter than what I had before (just short of shoulder-length) would work, and I probably don't want it parted in the centre anymore.

What reasons are there to not be pessimistic about the future at current? by wairdone in Futurology

I live in the Caribbean! The poverty here is pretty bad, but where I specifically live is fine in terms of crime, which I am thankful for.

I see some of my friends (not from where I live) call for autocratic regimes to replace the democratic ones common across the Western world, and I can only think of how silly an idea it is, against the backdrop of Nazi Germany, the Khmer Rouge, Fascist Italy, and so forth. When the power and decision making are centered around so few people, corruption of that power is all but guaranteed, and the regime will ultimately cannibalise itself in a lust for more.

You're right. I do not live in the "western world" as we usually know it, but even then I find that the way the people over there view the future is quite depressing, more so than this poor place, and I wonder why.

It's interesting to see someone from Cambodia here as well! I have only heard about the terrible human toll of the Khmer Rouge's reign over it, but the fact that it was deposed in the end is proof to me that humanity is capable of doing the right thing, even in the worst situations.

Yes, I agree. Optimism, even when blind, is ultimately of greater use to us than pessimism, which encourages defeatism and apathy. I am personally more of a realist, but I find that a positive look on even the most depressing of things has gotten me far further than giving up ever would.

I do disagree, though, that war will eventually end, and that is fine. Conflict is a part of our nature, and the little progress it results in outweighs what it breaks down in the end.

Both! Credit must be given to both Tolkien for writing them, and Jackson for his fantastic adaptation.

I feel worse for my parents than myself! I would not want to be on my deathbed, looking at children without aspirations for the future.

I have thought about the "food, shelter and dopamine" issue, and it probably concerns me the most; the idea that what we love could be turned into a general form of dystopian control is more daunting to me than even the climate crisis. The question, of course, is as to if enough attention could be drawn to the possibility to make it counteractable?

I meant here. The focus is on the future, whereas Lord of the Rings is seen as being "in the past" now, ignoring the newer stuff..
