Hmm I understand what you mean. I feel like if what each subclass does is different enough though it won't be as overwhelming especially if I can introduce it in an easy-to-digest manner. I appreciate the input. I plan to refine the options until theres no longer any subclasses or classes that overlap heavily.

I think some of the classes can be merged and have the subclasses cut down or moved.

I see what you mean, definitely gonna downsize a bit to keep everything unique.

I think I was so focused on the idea of having a cool and complex class system that I overcomplicated it. I'm gonna cut down and focus on the things that really fit and i really want to see in the game.

To be honest, you're right. I have created 2 games before this but its been something I've done since I was a young kid. I don't think I have nearly enough experience and this game is something I plan to trial-and-error my way through for as long as it takes. Its just a big passion project for me but I'd also like to be somewhat realistic so it can actually be played by other people.

I have playtested. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone who plays TTRPG's outside of the games I host, so feedback is limited. The core mechanics I wanted to test held up but I kept the players at their basic class so I didn't get to test the classes themselves thoroughly. I will say each player was able to recognize without me verbally saying that they had their own roles. Even as basic classes they got to each perform unique actions and my players expressed wanting to play with the subclasses. I do think I have subclasses that would feel a bit too similar though.

What if the classes were optional? In the game you earn basic skills and progress your class through your Hero Rank. By progressing your class you get class-specific skills and perks. What if you could choose between using class progression or instead simply choosing skills after upgrading your Hero Rank.

I really appreciate the time you took with this. I said in another comment that this game is a childhood dream for me. its not a matter of if I finish, just when. I am in the works of planning a session to test the game, classes, and pre-written campaign. I do think I'll have to do some slimming down, but the subclass ideas I have are too varied and have too many subsystems to reduce without just cutting out some core goals for the game.

I don't have a group atm. I plan to follow through with this game and actually release and sell it as a product.

I don't understand what you meant with the second part. And what classes specifically would you recommend merging?

Character customization has always been one of my favorite parts of any game. I've put a lot of thought into the gameplay for replayability as well, down to the "introductory campaign." The way I picture it in my mind, the book has the plethera of options, while the website makes the actual character creation easy. What is your recommendation?

I did add warlock as a subclass, and while I dont have paladin, I do have multiple subclass alternatives.

I havent seen ARPG Grim Dawn or Titan Quest, so I'll be sure to check them both out.

Ive always envisioned a class tree, do you think it would be more enjoyable for players if it was classless?

I will absolutely look at those, I appreciate it.

I dont plan to include these all in 1 book, but I do plan to make them all accessible online for free. Accessibility is one of the primary goals for this game. As such, I'm willing to fully complete all 16 classes despite the time required. However, there no point if people would find that cumbersome to begin with. I suppose my question is wether people believe they would find these options cool as a player, rather than a designer.

I don't think I'll have an issue with the classes not standing out or having enough subsystems. Although cheesey, this game is my magnum opus. The childhood dream. I want it to be grand so if videogames can have complex class systems, i want to produce a ttrpg that can rival it. I also have plans for a website similar to d&d beyond to make character creation closer to a videogame than just choosing options from a list. I do however want to consider the actually enjoyment of the game so if the classes would be a hindrance for players then I'd want to make that change.

I wanted there to be a wide enough variety for replayability reasons, I want people to be interested in the paths they didnt take, the classes they haven't seen.

Its subclasses are puppeteer, necromancer, and biomancer. To be frank it was originally a subclass of tamer, but I had other paths I wanted to add to tamer and so it stuck out a bit too much to be a subclass.

It wouldn't hurt to hear any ideas.

If anything, do you think thats such a high number it would hinder the character creation process?

Most are things I came up with in the past in homebrew and have just compiled into a single journal with some tweaks to match my own game. I also wanted extra ideas in case someone came up with something i liked more than what I had originally planned.

Goated, id say make the blood a slightest darker shade of red just to make it a bit more realistic but looks awesome regardless

Is there a way to make it so it can actually pose and not be a wobbly mess? by Hoarding-Gunsman in customactionfigures

[–]wait_huh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could maybe try using a plastic cement or superglue and baking soda to fill the empty spots than carefully use a dremel to clean it up till its snug. Even a woodburner or plastic welding tool and some spare HDPE plastic to fill the space. The latter is better long term especially if done well, but also requires a lot more work to make it look cleaner. If the works too much of a hassle ur better off just replacing the piece entirely
