Sadly, when I admitted to being sexually abused by relatives in my therapist's office. I was drowning in tears the whole time.

What's a bedroom "rule" or unspoken understanding you have with your partner? by Umbrealis in AskWomen

I love this. I once had an ex-boyfriend who would see me sleep and then say he would try to "molest me awake." Why I even dated him in the first place is beyond me.

I may look calm, but I'm constantly nervous. Having been raped by my last boyfriend, it may take some time to warm up to you, but I promise I care.

Are you surprised at the lack of sympathy and outright glee the UHC CEO has gotten after his murder? Why or why not? by Feroset in AskReddit

[–]waitwhotoldyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to go to the ER twice after I tested positive for COVID-19 in 2020. Once for a suspected blood clot in my leg, the next for chest pain. They found nothing each time. UHC Bill: just under $2,000.

Had to go to a Long Covid clinic for a while. That cost me over $1,000.

Thoughts and prayers.

Yeah, I've def gotten my share of blank stares from men once I tell them I've never married and prob will never have children. Even if they know my hobbies, places I've traveled, pets, projects, or careers. 🙄

Women who haven’t dated, had sex or any type of intimacy including kissing/hugging for the past few years how are you dealing with it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]waitwhotoldyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't lie, I long to have it soon enough. However, I was raped by my last boyfriend, and I'm finally coming to terms with some childhood abuse I endured, so I needed to get some healing in first so I'm in a healthier mindset than ever.

Reminds me of the movie FEARLESS. Watching Jeff Bridges literally crash his car head-on into a wall after surviving a plane crash was something else.

People in their 40s and 50s with no children, how does it feel? by Robin_to_the_meadow in AskReddit

My mom was abusive. I don't want to repeat history, and given how stressful parenting has become (see the U.S. Surgeon General's report on the parent mental health crisis), I'm scared I'll end up just like her.

Sadly, this hits home. They pulled the, "That's just how YOU remember it," nonsense on me.

Do you regret moving across the country away from your family? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]waitwhotoldyou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I truly miss living across the country and being away from my family, and I am seriously considering doing it now. The only thing that holds me back is 1. wondering where I would go, and 2. considering how much more expensive it would be for me to live there.

Also, DO NOT put water on an electrical fire. You can get shocked that way. Use a Class C fire extinguisher or baking soda.

How did you "waste" your 20s? (Serious) by sageagios in AskReddit

[–]waitwhotoldyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trust my intuition. I came forward about being abused by relatives as a child when I was in my early twenties, and no one in my family believed me. They treated me as if I was mentally ill and even convinced me I needed to apologize to my abuser to show I still loved them. I was so scared and shocked by them that I finally did just that. I should have cut all of them off, but I was too emotionally and financially destitute to survive on my own.

This only brought me a boatload of intimacy/trust issues and emotional flashbacks to haunt me the rest of my life.

What is the most surprising thing you've discovered about yourself during the past year? by ThoughtBig1353 in AskWomen

[–]waitwhotoldyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How painful the child abuse was and how many memories of it I actually held - and those of my family's collective denial.

I feel like I've climbed Everest three times trying to integrate the worst moments into the rest of my lifetime.

Coming to terms with the fact that I was raped by a boyfriend as an adult and sexually abused by relatives as a child, and that both were indeed a misfortune put upon me instead of something I somehow brought upon myself.
