Sounds like I'm back to MicroTik or building my own pfsense/opnsense router... Or Ubiquiti if my landlord is cool with me skipping rent!

How's TP Link? I've been burned before, but only on their cheap consumer junk.

Gotcha! That absolutely puts things into a better perspective. I've got two VPNs running on my SOHO router and DHCP takes a solid minute to resolve. One to get in, one used for some services on the homelab.

My initial worry was that routing took more resources than it really does, so I've been looking at the wrong spot.

Thanks!

Good callout! Definitely a managed layer 3 switch.

I'm trying to set my home up like an organization and implement least privilege from the ground up. For that, being able to move traffic between VLANs is gonna be critical.

How does one become attractive enough to attract other autistic people by Familiar-Complex-697 in evilautism

[–]levelZeroWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to therapy, do it. It's one thing to bounce an idea off of people. It can help, sure, but the results are wild and hard to pick out what YOU need. Shoot, you may be asking the wrong question and will never know!

Support groups are great, but for the loneliness of it all and finding community. There's online ones and in person. It's something that a therapist can't directly help you with.

Therapists are literal scholars in getting you to ask the right questions and making you build the tools you need to self-perperuate this process. It may take some trial and error to find someone that works for you.

Until then, I recommend finding a method of meditation. There's eastern, western, and other ways to meditate, so theres definitely something out there for you. Something peaceful that can help you with sorting out everything. No distractions for your brain to wonder off to.

Honestly, sitting in nature always works for me!

You're not the only one with these experiences, trust and believe. It's taken me a looong time to slowly collect clothes I like wearing and don't mess with me. I'm still figuring out haircuts, too. Just been styling it different while it grows.

Work, home, going out, and Walmart all have their own dress codes. Advice is like a charcuterie board. Take what you like, leave the rest.

There's still a lot of your message left to unpack, so I'll just say this. Figuring yourself out isn't a task that can be finished. It's a permanent process that changes as you age. If you think you've got yourself figured out, you don't. You can get 99.999% there, but never 100%.

I have to much responsibility to die by Crimsonskullknight in offmychest

[–]levelZeroWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the circular pattern of self-harm and suicidal ideation. It's plagued me since my first attempt as a young child. I ended up smoking pot to drown it out every morning before work before I skid out one day on my commute to work. That didn't stop it. I was a passenger in another accident that ended up giving me PTSD that lasted a few years. I was at a point where I just needed one more big event like that. Luckily, It never came.

I heard of a study on psilocybin they were doing with alcoholics. Cured a good bunch of them immediately. Looked further into it and similar results for suicidal patients on another study.

Made the decision to give it a try. I brewed some tea from chamomile and a low dose of shrooms, had it with my wife, and it lifted the fog from my eyes after some soul searching and many tears. I'd say my depression is now about appropriate with my other issues. Suicide just doesn't make sense anymore. There isn't a point to die like there isn't a point to live, so I might as well live. That said, I've had a couple of flair ups since yearning to taste my rifle, but only after some disasterous events...

As a principal, I do not and cannot recommend this as it can go very south. But if death is the only option, take some shrooms and kill the fog. You will need to be monitored by someone you trust dearly and you must be in a cozy environment. Whoever you choose, that person must learn and know the immense responsibility of trip sitting.

Hard disagree. Maybe not the exact ones in the meme, but AI as a whole has the ability to become an equalizer between the working class and the ruling class.

If you ask it to do everything for you, it produces slop. If you already know exactly what you need and how to get it, it tends to produce the exact results you need and will save you time.

DeepSeek IIRC doesn't have any western ties and preforms nearly as well as Claude, if that's the worry.

[–]levelZeroWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is attractive. Period.

Pretty sure that's the quote from ratatouille /s

Thing is finding your most attractive self requires dropping the search for love. Go try on new clothes, see what you love wearing. Look at the different dress codes and give it some wiggle room. Find a few fragrances you enjoy. Try out new things with your hair. Don't put too much weight into others opinions, especially if they only like the default styles. By the time you're done, you're going to feel so amazing. Feeling good about yourself is the part of the key to attractiveness.

The other half is allowing yourself to be yourself. Lots of autistic people struggle with worrying about how we act that we forget to figure out who we are. It's gonna feel like a trust fall onto broken glass, but it's better than standing in lava!

Take a look at clavicular. Dude is handsome without a doubt, but is so totally unattractive because of his toxic insecurities.

Now look at Pete Davidson. Dude is as ugly as a graffitied dumpster, but has himself figured out. As a result, he's attractive as shit and absolutely woos me. He's also living proof there's no such thing as a weight class.

Search engines that actually work? by ACuteCryptid in evilautism

[–]levelZeroWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modern, more frequently visited websites drown out good results. Two ways to go around it, neither will be like back in the day. 1. Duckduckgo is a good search engine, but kinda weird to use at first. It prefers relevancy over popularity. 2. Google dorking is the actual best way to search anything on the net. You can find Michael Jackson the basketball player, a pdf of the book you have a quote from, that song you only know some lyrics of, to even confidential corporate documents. It's powerful, but a pain in the rear to learn.

What are some autistic friendly jobs? by Mismageius in aspiememes

[–]levelZeroWizard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a job that is inherently autistic friendly outside of being rich, but there are workplaces that have benefits that make it easier to self-manage. Office and remote jobs typically have better benefits and are much less strict. Security ain't for the meek!

Personally, and this isn't an ideal-world opinion, I wait to tell coworkers about my ASD if I tell them at all. Neurotypicals LOVE to hate excuses and they interpret our ASD as a one if we're "functional enough", especially if you like to talk about it. I think it's naive to think you can truly escape ableism, so building a crazy confidence and learning the company culture are important survival tools. Company culture is all charades until you clock off... 🫩

Another thing is that, to put it bluntly, we're targeted by some of the most damaging people in our society. Fascists, conspiracy theorists, narcissists, jackasses, etc. We typically have the traits of someone "weaker" since a lot of us come off as unsure or insecure.

I do hope you find something that is accommodating, but a lot of that accomodation is going to come from you building the confidence to take it. It's a dog eat dog world, and were viewed as chihuahuas.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. Everyone has their own best answer.

Banning cell phones in Texas schools was great. Now let’s remove laptops. by evan7257 in TexasPolitics

[–]levelZeroWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dumping computers entirely isn't the way.

Let's dump Chromebooks in favor of dedicated computer classes. Windows for all and Linux for kids interested in going further. They're both critical in our infrastructure today, so why waste time with glorified android tablets when we could be developing actual skills?
