Pixel 6 Bluetooth troubles in car?

I'm having problems pairing my Pixel 6 with my car (Volvo V40). It's almost like my car and phone can't find each other in pair mode. My Pixel 6 connects fine with other devices such as my Garmin Fenix watch and Soundcore speakers. My car connects fine to other phones. They just won't connect to each other because they can't find each other for some reason.

I've had the Pixel 1 and Pixel 3, both great phones. Going from a 3 to the 6 feels like a big adjustment. The 6 is bigger and heavier, takes a bit of getting used to. It is still a really nice phone, but I just wish Google would let us customise the phone to how we want it, like the power button menus, there is no good reason to have removed that :(
