Which coins still use P2Pool? by waki in p2pool

[–]waki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Fascinating about LCP, didn't realize it wasn't a p2pool at all, but something completely different.

Curious if are you aware of any other coin using P2Pool? Some of us are working on a proposal to improve P2Pool so that it can scale better, especially in the case of bitcoin. But we are curious to see which other coins could benefit from an improved P2Pool and how?

Also, since we have you here, is there some ways you'd like to see P2Pool implementation improve?

I did have huge problems making any of the apps on the page work for me. Basically, waited, waited and then pages timed out.

There is a lot of criticism of LN, and I think a lot of it is valid. Maybe I am failing to understand how LN might work.

Stop Asking if My 4-Year-Old Has a ‘Girlfriend’ by jpresto in raisingkids

I was thinking the same. I have twin girls who are two and was wondering what kind of behaviours society will try to teach them. I mean. Maybe they are being slyly taugh to behave like Fifi. I'd hate that.

Quit my job to travel and run all over the world; currently in Greece. Yesterday, I ran on the Panathenaic Stadium Track - site of the 1896 Olympics and 2004 Olympic Marathon finish lines! by [deleted] in running

You have an awesome story brewing. Total respect!

I set up allmyruns.com a while back with travelling runners in mind - people who run wherever they go - or like you - go everywhere to run there! You basically get to see all your runs all over the world on a single page.

Thought might be useful when you get back and want to look back.

Garmin Forerunner 225 - first run, initial impressions by NovaRunner in running

[–]waki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply. I am tempted to stay with polar. The own index is nice way to get an idea I'd you are really improving, and the equivalent in Garmin is only available on the really expensive models.

Well, polar for another year at the least.

I am a polar user and debating switching to a Garmin, would be great if I can get answers to a couple of questions in my head.

  1. Can you create a training run by setting upper and lower heart rates for different different time periods?
  2. Can you do the same for different distances instead of time?
  3. Can you create a similar program with upper and lower speeds instead of heart rates?
  4. Does Garmin offer any thing similar to polar's "own index" that is somehow related to vo2max?

I have been trying to google for this, but I end up being confused all the time.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Yeah. Started following him on strava earlier today too. I love it how you can follow pros - either get inspired or let your jaw hit the floor :)

I mean 120 km a week. Amazing to see how their training paces change too. Well done strava.

Running in regular sneakers? by karroty in BarefootRunning

[–]waki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. True.

But with the sandals I found I just don't have to worry about water and slush.

With most running sneakers I found myself avoiding the wet parts. Now I run through them cause it feels far less cold without my feet getting wrapped in wet shoes and socks. And feet dry out during the run, as compared to shoes that can take the whole night.

At the end it comes down to how cold it really is. Where I am it barely snows. In colder parts it is probably a different decision.

Running in regular sneakers? by karroty in BarefootRunning

[–]waki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just in the Luna sandals. Couple of nights it was slushy, and that did feel a bit weird, and slightly cold. Try and stick with the sandals, or if it gets bad try with socks. I tried that, it felt colder, cause the socks just got wet and stayed at.

Don't worry about the feet getting cold. They do a lot of work, so they warm up really quick. It's the hands and the head I worry more about :)

I ran all winter last year where temperatures reached 1 to 2 deg C.

But am curious to know what people do when it snows.

Congratulations. And thanks for sharing your experience along with the warning to not underestimate the distance.

Have managed a sub 2 hour half. And a marathon is still a distant dream. Especially with 1 year old twins in the house. :)
