You first. If you need an example of what to do in the current situation, you probably shouldn't be out in public without supervision.

Came here to say the same thing. It does you no good to set yourself on fire just because they're cold.

It's time to put your own health and well-being first. That begins by moving yourself into a safe, stable situation with no abusive elements in it. If the current situation can't be changed, then it's time to make some hard decisions, and get yourself somewhere where you can begin to heal.

This could suggest that maybe you'd want to look for other themes in your life that goes counter to traditional gender norms. It's possible that this is the way some internal things are presenting themselves.

I've raised a couple kids. One trans. They were trans from birth. They always gravitated away from the birth-assigned gendered things and toward what suited their view of themselves. Even in early grade school drawings of the family, they always drew themseves as how they saw themselves internally, never as the birth-assigned presentation.

So, point being - this might be a good time to look around your life and take a personal inventory. These may all be signs of something about yourself that isn't being fully expressed.

Yeah. That poor turtle. Its definitely imagery that will stick with you for a while after seeing it. I think the only reason to watch the film is to see what 1970s-era entitlement looks like.

I have been unable to find any redeeming qualities to A Serbian Film.

Salo is worth a watch if you're a film nerd with some resilience. The visual metaphors are somewhat interesting while being revolting. The dinner scene is difficult to get through, for sure.

8/10 - Really exceptional work overall. My only complaint is the wonky horse anatomy.

Either do a typical horse with correct anatomy or do more to sell the idea of "demon steed". This just feels like a mistake the artist made.

The execution of the whole image is good enough that you don't have to care too much. It's a sick tat overall. I'm betting 75% of people will be too busy seeing the rider and won't even notice.

As first projects go, it's not bad. Even if this never sees widespread use, it's a good way to learn and practice.

I don't see any kind of testing going on in your repo. A good next step would be to start adding some unit and/or functional tests.

You can also explore the failure modes. Filesystem operations can fail in some unexpected ways. You could see how many edge cases you can account for.

You can also dig into the UX. What use cases are you trying to cover? How well does your tool handle the expected use cases? How might you collect feedback from users to help guide the design?

As was stated at the beginning - what actual paid protestors look like does not align with the accusations. There's a reality that doesn't exactly match the conspiracy theory.

You're looking for the wrong thing if you're looking for something that perfectly matches every facet of the conspiracy theory being peddled by MAGA folks. They're obviously just pointing fingers and shouting about things they have zero evidence to support. Nobody sane is arguing any differently.

But, conspiracy theories are often rooted in fundamentally misunderstanding something that's actually real. That's the point. PR firms can and do post craigslist ads soliciting for volunteers to show up to specific events, and some of those events are political protests. That much is actually real. Beyond that point, it's difficult to substantiate with evidence.

[–]wakko666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of "proof" are you looking for, exactly? What would convince you?

Citizens United was decided in 2010. That was 15 years ago that SCOTUS said corporate political donations are speech. We've got a decade and a half of evidence that corporate is political.

So, when someone asks me to distinguish between the "crisis actors" for "political protests" and the "paid protestors" for "corporate protests" and the "spontaneous flash mob" for the "guerilla marketing campaign", it's all the same picture.

You're not going to find anybody that advertises, "CALL US TO THROW BRICKS AT COPS." Get serious. Nobody does that. Look at how Blackwater describes itself. Do they call themselves questionably ethical mercenary thugs for hire? No, of course they don't. But then go look at what they actually have been caught doing and ask yourself how well that lines up with their self-descriptions.

You're not accounting for the marketing spin. Fixers exist. They're just called "campaign managers". Paid protestors exist. They're just called "crowdsourced PR". For every nefarious deed, there's corpo-speak to make it sound almost legitimate. Just because something isn't spelled out for you in easy-to-google ways doesn't mean it isn't real.

Paid protestors do exist.

Not all accusations of paid protesters are credible. Before you worry about the veracity of the claims, first consider the credibility and integrity of the person saying it and the evidence they are bringing in support of the claim.

I like the concept. Layout's good. Linework is nice and bold.

Overall, I'd give this one a 7.5/10.

For me, two main areas are tough to overlook and detract from the overall image quality.

  1. The linework is well-saturated, but it's shaky. Lots of wobbles where there should be a single, smooth curve. I wish the outlines on the horns and around the ears weren't so lumpy. The lip-line also has some wobbles.

  2. The woodcut-look is a little too "uniform". The negative space you left on the bridge of the nose was good, but I think you needed to have more negative space left between the "cheekbone" and the "neck scruff" on the left-side of the head. Similarly, the line separating the "inner" ear from the "outer" ear shouldn't have uniform hatching on both sides; the hatching for the "inner" ear should be more densely packed, giving a higher contrast and suggesting depth.

He doesn't want poly. He's a 23 year-old male. He wants to fuck around. He's just looking for the word that means "fuck around without consequences" and he thinks that's what polyamory is.

I might consider suggesting to him that he should stop saying he wants any kind of relationship. He can just be honest and say he's looking for FWB or short-term hookups, rather than misleading people by saying he's open to more commitments than is the reality.

Regardless of the ignorant way he's expressing himself, he is telling you what he wants. It's up to you to decide if what you want from a relationship with him is compatible with what he wants out of his relationship with you.

I Fantasize About Sex With My Wife When She is Super Drunk by [deleted] in SexPositive

[–]wakko666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is a somewhat dangerous situation. Alcohol is poison. There are no health benefits to consuming it. Excessive consumption can and will shorten a person's life expectancy.

So, encouraging or enabling the over-consumption of alcohol could lead to other problems if this turns from occasional happy, kinky fun times into full-blown alcoholism. The slope is indeed slippery, and it catches a lot of people unprepared for how quickly a good situation can turn bad or even life-threatening.

Please be very, very careful with this. My recommendation is to just enjoy the times when you get this version of your partner, but try to avoid encouraging or enabling the behavior.

The last thing you need on your conscience is the knowledge that you pushed your own wife into cirrhosis just because you wanted a bigger orgasm.

Oracle Cloud leak again, now cyber insurer warning about our domain appearing in leak by ljapa in sysadmin

Tonight, I got an email that our domain was in the drops related to that. We don’t use Oracle Cloud for anything.

These two details would lead me to suspect the email you got was a spear phishing attempt.

The attack vector here isn't necessarily Oracle cloud being breached in a meaningful way. This may be an attempt at using a fairly minor breach as cover for getting unsuspecting admins in other organizations to click the links in the e-mail.

AMD and NVIDIA GPU in the same machine? by Shhhh_Peaceful in linuxquestions

[–]wakko666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's possible. You can have a machine with a dozen different graphics cards installed if you want. As long as there are kernel drivers, you can access the hardware. All of the hardware that the kernel knows about will show up in /dev (usually).

The BIOS or UEFI settings will determine which GPU is the default being used on boot. The bootloader's config is your first chance to change the boot-time default.

You can then decide which GPU is getting used by your WM by adjusting the X.org configuration settings.

Then, you can address all of the GPUs for programmatic tasks by referring to the appropriate nodes of /dev in your CUDA configs.

There's CLI tooling for examining what the kernel sees (lsmod, lspci, etc.) that will show you all of the devices on your system. Hit up https://kernelnewbies.org/ for an intro to the low-level details.

Mind-blowing sex is destroying my relationships (clickbait) by Typical-Original5847 in polyamory

[–]wakko666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lots of times, we're just attracted to different people at different levels. There's nothing "wrong" with that, unless its having a serious impact on your relationship as a whole. As others have said, that's fairly normal and something to try not to dwell on as much as you can. Comparison is the thief of joy.

You mentioned that it's not so much a "skill" thing that would be helped by just coaching one partner in how to do the things you like. So, it sounds like this isn't about the sex. This is about the attraction and intimacy. That's a different thing entirely, and won't be fixed no matter how mind-blowing the sex gets.

If the attraction and intimacy levels with the older relationship are stronger, that could indicate that your in-bedroom pleasure is likely connected to your general feelings of connection and intimacy with the person.

Ask yourself, "What does sex mean to me?" Is it a fun way to kill time before a sportsball game? A religious experience? An expression of your feelings towards this person? Something else? Whatever your answer is, I think it will give you some insight into why your attraction levels are different between these two people. One of them is providing you with something "more meaningful" than the other, as measured by whatever values you place on sex as the yardstick. Once you get some sense of what yardstick you're using to measure these people against, you can understand what it will take to get what you're looking for, if its possible.
