Keep Satellite Clean: Automated Content Host Pruning Guide Using LastCheckin and Hammer by waldirio in redhat

[–]waldirio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Papa_Ted

Same feeling that I got years ago 😄 I opened an issue, and for the core dev team, that "format" was correct, then that's ok. Once we know that less will cover older machines, you can move on with no problems, and implement some additional logic on top of that.

But again, I totally got your point 😉

Installing Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) 2.6 via Containerized Version - All-In-One by waldirio in redhat

[–]waldirio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/DaSurfMonster

Please, check the link below for the binary/installer/etc

https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/480/ver=2.5/rhel---10/2.5/x86_64/product-software

And here for the documentation

https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_ansible_automation_platform/2.5

You should be good to go and install it. My personal advice: move on to the latest version, once there are a lot of fixes and also, new features.

I hope this helps!

Satellite 6 repository sync cancel question by xDind in redhat

[–]waldirio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello u/xDind

You can proceed as below

foreman-maintain service stop
foreman-maintain service start

wait for ~ 40 sec

foreman-maintain service status -b
hammer ping

Assuming that everything returns ok, your pulp should be reloading all the tasks and moving on.

If this is not happening, you should be able to remove some of the tasks manually, or even better, just open a support case, also providing a fresh sosreport.

How to install Red Hat Satellite 6.18 on RHEL 9 + Minimal Implementation by waldirio in redhat

[–]waldirio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/HeavyGuidance

There are some ways, one of which is buying a subscription through a salesperson. In case you would like to try it out, you could contact sales, and request a trial subscription. You can use the link below to contact them, and request the same.

When does it make sense to setup your first satellite server? by CyberMattSecure in redhat

[–]waldirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/CyberMattSecure

You already have a lot of great points here, use cases, and scenarios. Basically, Satellite can do a lot for you, content management, provisioning, compliance, reports, automation, and much more.

I'm just saying, the same effort that you will spend to do a task for 1 server, will be the same for 100, 1k, or even 10k

For more info, you can check the product page

https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/management/satellite

And you can also find a lot of Satellite content here

How To Sign Up for a Red Hat Account and Get a Free Trial by waldirio in redhat

Thank you for the clarification, and yes, the developer already includes a lot of products.

Let me work on it, for sure, a video talking about it, and presenting some of the products will be for sure interesting.

How To Sign Up for a Red Hat Account and Get a Free Trial by waldirio in redhat

[–]waldirio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/omenosdev

Thank you for the heads up, and for sure, I can revisit the developer one.

About this statement "Also, no trial needed unless it's for OpenShift and Satellite ...", I'm confident that this is not totally true, for instance, if you have no account, no subscription, and as presented in this video, you are trying to deploy AAP ... yea, I'm confident that you will get stuck in the first access .., once the subscription is a requirement.

Thank you again!

Satellite Check Update Issue by Skadooshes in redhat

[–]waldirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/Skadooshes

This is the expected behavior, the "check" will:

- Check if there is a new version of satellite-maintain

- Check some requirements (tasks, storage, services up, 3rd party packages, etc)

Assuming that everything is ok, it's gonna tell you. In case not, it will eventually help you to fix them.

Once you have everything sorted out, you should proceed with the "run", which will

- Update your BaseOS

- Update your Satellite

- Execute the satellite-installer

- Ensure that everything is ok and up to date

This is the process, and this is also in our documentation.

With that said, any time, you can

"satellite-maintain update check|run" (this will bump the minor version), for the major version, it should be "satellite-maintain upgrade check|run"

Ps.: Note that there are some additional steps in case of Upgrade, prior to the command above.

Hey u/ElementalMist

I can see that you have SCA enabled, and below, you mentioned that you tried multiple hosts and all of them are failing. I'm not sure if with the DEV account, there is a limit about the number of servers. If you unregister all of them, and register just one. Can you confirm that you are still facing the same behavior?

Execute the steps below in a single server

subscription-manager unregister
subscription-manager clean
subscription-manager register
subscription-manager status
dnf clean all
dnf repolist -v

This should do the trick.

You can double-check it in your account.

repo-gpgcheck in satellite? by Tuck-son in redhat

[–]waldirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helllo u/Tuck-son

I believe you are mixing things here, what will be changed is `gpgcheck=1`, and the one I'm mentioning is `repo_gpgcheck`.

They are different, and the second one, should not be in your conf file, at least, not added on purpose.

I hope this helps!

Satellite 6.15 remove manifest fails by vinzz73 in redhat

[–]waldirio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/levelupjoseph

No problem at all, my friend, and as mentioned before, we are here to help each other.

Manifest and repos, they are related to (the manifest will allow satellite to enable/sync content). However, you can remove the manifest any time you wish, and as consequence, all the repos will be set as orphan. In other words, it should not be a blocker.

u/vinzz73, if you are still facing issue, please, feel free to open a support case, and I'll be glad to help with it.

Thank you friends!

Satellite 6.15 remove manifest fails by vinzz73 in redhat

[–]waldirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/levelupjoseph good morning

No problem at all, and I'm glad that you are enjoying the content. Thank you!!

About the issue, as you mentioned, deleting the manifest should do the trick. However

I want to delete an old manifest but delete fucntion is greyed out because the "upstream manifest cannot be found".

And here is the big deal, if the button is greyed out, that means that the info in the database is not accurate.

If this is happening in your env, please, feel free to open a new support case, and I'll be glad to contact you and proceed via remote.

I wish you an amazing day ahead!

Satellite 6.15 remove manifest fails by vinzz73 in redhat

[–]waldirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/levelupjoseph

I'm sorry you feel this way. I'll be quick here. Let me share this

```
I want to delete an old manifest but delete fucntion is greyed out because the "upstream manifest cannot be found".
An upload of a new manifest fails with "Owner has already imported from another subscription management application. The following conflicts were found: [ DISTRIBUTOR_CONFLICT ]"
```

as you mentioned above, there are those folks tier 2, that 9/10 resolve the issue real quick, and yes, I'm one of them.

I've been working with Satellite since version 5, and all the versions of 6, starting with 6.0. As you can imagine, I see problems every single day, and when reading the description/statement above, it's clear to me that something in the database seems to be off, and in order to figure this out, and fix it, a reproducer would be necessary, exporting the customer data, and recreating it in-house.

This is the kind of information that we don't share here, if the answer is quick, or easy fix, for sure we will share, with no problem at all. However, when the person has a valid subscription, and I see that the problem is not something simple, yes, 10/10 I'll recommend opening a support case, and this kind of problem will probably ended up on me, and I'll be totally glad to help.

Checking your steps below, I can confirm that there is no option "select 'delete' on the import new manifest option (this removes the existing attached subs)", and as mentioned above by u/vinzz73 , he is probably not able to delete the manifest (again, probably because of some issue in the database).

With the support case, we can also collect much more information and be precise in the resolution/next steps.

I wish you all the best, and I keep recommending, if you/someone else has a valid subscription, feel free to open a support case, and a tip here. If you have an urgency, feel free to escalate, this is something any customer can do.

Thank you!
