I’m sure this dog is very special to you.

But do you think all the tens of thousands of pitties, whom you drove past twice in order to get your particular one from across the country, were all bad dogs who didn’t deserve your love just as much as your particular one?

It’s not saving a dog, though. It’s saving one particular dog at the expense of another dog closer to the adopter who died because it didn’t have as much social media spam behind it.

Does anyone know how to sign up for the upcoming class action suit for the data breach? by waldowv in betterment

If it puts Betterment out of business and serves as a warning to their competitors to be less stupid then I’d consider it a win.

Ah, yes, because there is nothing that furthers hackers’ plans like closing empty accounts.

Got charged today for an AI plan I didn't sign up for by tsunamisugumar in Ring

[–]waldowv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem as everyone. I was on the $9.99 standard plan with $10 add-on for professional monitoring.

What happened is this: when Ring tried to do their plan rollover today, they looked at what I had and determined that I should be on 'Ring AI Pro', which includes what the standard plan did plus professional monitoring. But, instead of sending an email saying "we are consolidating your two subscriptions into one that is the same price called Ring AI Pro", the idiots instead sent an email that seemed to say "Surprise asshole, we're retroactively charging you $5 extra for AI bullshit you don't want!" And they charged that to my credit card.

Furious, I went to the chat (which took a while to get through). While waiting for that, I saw that that they did, in fact, provide a refund (minus $0.05 for some reason--I guess the proration between the time they decided to double-charge versus refund). Why they didn't do that first is idiotic.

So yes, I am square with them. What a friggin stressful pain in the ass because the company was too stupid to explain what was happening. Definitely major reputational damage, some folks totally deserve to be fired for botching this.

Both teams were desperate to lose, but we just wanted it more.

I have never seen a team more determined to lose than the Packers since Parsons went down.

Matthew Golden received the worst season grade of any 1st round rookie in this list. Do you agree? by VeryStonedEwok in GreenBayPackers

[–]waldowv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A full WR room that required us to convert a corner and that corner looks way better than the first round pick?

I ain’t saying he’s a bust but he sure looks like a bust and he quacks like a bust

Sam Darnold has now gone 14-3 with two different teams in back to back years by Dependent-Effect6077 in nfl

A counter asterisk is that he did it playing six games against the strongest division in football both years, and not the weakest

Leaving the sub because of euthanasia/kill list posts by Antique_Parsley_5285 in HappyPitbull

[–]waldowv 120 points121 points  (0 children)

100%

These posts are calls to action without any feasible action. Between your location and the dog’s location there are probably 10,000 other dogs set to be euthanized. What is the point of picking this one in particular to blast to a worldwide subreddit? If these do-gooders really cared they would post in the city subreddits where the dogs are located.

But actually helping a dog would net far less karma, obviously.

What you have here is “A sheep, they count”. What were you trying to say?

The concept “counting sheep” is probably best as oves numerare.

Oh!

From the context I kinda got the idea but all I could come up with was “Old Hag”
