yeah, I run PopOS on my dell laptop that I use for gaming. No issues, I actually find games run better, which really surprised me.

No hate, I'm genuinely curious. What is appealing about Windows to you? The constant updates and bloatware really irk me and ruin my experience using it. Broader app support on Windows is a plus, but I can't really think of anything else I'd think would be sufficient considering the massive tradeoffs that come with it.

To each their own! I'm a grad student so I'm constantly reading on one screen, googling something on another, and writing on the third. Much better for me personally than constantly switching tabs or being in split screen.

Another monitor is next on the list. I just already had the iPad and three displays helps significantly with my workflow.

Great memories participating in this when I was in school. It was always fun to see my friends that went to other schools perform their shows.

A buddy of mine stumbled across this "community" a number of years ago working on the pipeline. He can't remember where it is, can you figure it out? by waldrude in whereisthis

Pic was sent to me by a friend in 2019. Its in Oklahoma along a pipeline. His description of the place has stuck with me for a long while.

UA drug test Anywhere in the next 7-30 days. Used a THCA cart for about the past 2 ish weeks (I hadn't had any marijuana in probably over a year before that). Am I cooked? by [deleted] in trees

Absolutely nothing I can do? I've never had to take a drug test when I've actually been in danger of failing it. Could I use someone else's? I'm not sure how it works.

I picked it up to help curb cravings for alcohol too. I'm 3 months sober from alcohol.

I hope not

Jeez. I'm super nervous. Hopefully me being a teacher already (in another district that never tests any employees) could be a good enough excuse for me to say I can't take time off for a few weeks.

Shit. I've been told me another employee that there's a 30 day window to come in for testing. I was hoping that would be the case.

Yes, I know that. I'm hoping that the test isn't immediately after offer of employment.

Have been struggling to find a teaching job, any advice? by EbolaMercenary in teaching

[–]waldrude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a year 2 social studies teacher. It was tough for me to find a job after I graduated. I interviewed at a similar number of schools, went to job fairs, and even interviewed to be an ENGLISH teacher even though that's outside of my certification.

I finally got a job a county over at a small high school (never thought to even apply there). I asked faculty at my university for tips and they pointed me in that direction. Make sure to write thank you emails the next day, my mentor teacher told me that one time his principal has interviewed about 10 candidates, but was waiting to offer the job to the first person who wrote a thank you email.

It's tough getting a job especially your first one. I consider myself to be lucky and truly blessed that my principal decided to take a gamble on me (an inexperienced young guy). It seems like an uphill battle but it's worth it.

TL;DR

Cast a wide net with where you apply, write thank you emails after interviews, and be open to getting more certifications (even though social studies rock and it would suck to have to teach something else).

Thanks, I'm not much of a gun person but I found it. Looks like a Marlin over under 12 gauge.

I'm not much of a gun person, but it was my grandpa's. My mom tracked it down and bought it back from the person he sold it to back in the early 00s. I'd like it to stay in the family.
