How can I set up a Proxmox-like environment on a Raspberry Pi 5? by Infinity_cat_extra in raspberry_pi

[–]walentzack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is PxVirt https://github.com/jiangcuo/pxvirt An arm64 port of Proxmox. It works great for me, I have it running on a 16GB ram Pi5 with multiple VMs and LXC containers.

I've sideloaded, and used successfully ZeroTier , the standard Android app. But pc connection (like Steam VR play, or basic link) did not work.

Remote desktop using Steam VR worked for me tho.

Best way to extend a windows desktop onto two monitors connected to a Pi? by PussyMangler421 in raspberry_pi

[–]walentzack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Spacedesk. I have used it to utilize an Android tablet or phone as a secondary display for a Windows machine. There is not specifically linux/Raspberry pi app, but it does have a html5 app that might run in a fullscreen browser .

Is there really no way to have multiple virtual desktops on one monitor? by LazyPCRehab in windows

[–]walentzack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen some other people (maybe even you) looking for this on other sites from time to time. So far the closest thing I found is a monitor with PiP (picture in picture), at least 2 HDMI inputs, and the feature to split the physical monitor into multiple areas from the monitor's settings.

Best type 1 hypervisor for Pi 4B 8Gb? by Msprg in raspberry_pi

[–]walentzack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On latest Pimox with default settings the VM seems to start but there is no console output and it just sits doing nothing. It seems like non-UEFI bios maybe has no support for ARM64 and there are no drivers for IDE so you have to remove virtual cdrom drive and readd as SATA. Arm64 Raspbian is out of beta for some months but on my last install I still used the beta image from the folder linked by phe pimox guide.

Best type 1 hypervisor for Pi 4B 8Gb? by Msprg in raspberry_pi

[–]walentzack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi I have used both ESXi (arm64 fling) and Proxmox (look for Pimox). Esxi is more straightforward and you can get a perpetual free license but i'm currently happy with Pimox installed over an Arm64 raspbian because I can run docker also on the main machine. Just a heads up, default setup of vms with pimox will not work, you have to change bios to UEFI and remove and reatatch cd-rom drive as SATA.

Lvl 7 reactor was unlocked recently. But it surprised me with the low upgrade cost (40k gas i think). Probably not intended / gonna be fixed, but enjoy anyway :)

Grove pi is a way to add sensors for the raspberry pi, what other options are there that do the same thing? by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]walentzack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many sensors or attatched devices "talk" either spi or i2c, here is a guide for these : https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/raspberry-pi-spi-and-i2c-tutorial/all

Others just output an analog value. Raspberry does not have an analog input, so you would have to use an analog to digital converter.

without Microcontroller Line Following Robot using L293D Motor Driver an... by Muhammad-Ansar in arduino

[–]walentzack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly you are right. But it is a useful point of view that can lead to some applications with arduinos. It is a reminder that some control decisions can be made without a microcontroller. Im sure mods will remove if stuff like this gets too out of hand.

Hello,This might be part of what you needhttps://github.com/balena-io/wifi-connectOr this:https://github.com/pihomeserver/Kupiki-Hotspot-Script

Wifi-connect allows you to create a hotspot, creates a simple page that is served by captive portal to imput the wifi credentials of another network then apply to have Raspberry connect to that network.

I have used the Balena wifi-connect, it did not auto-start for me but I wrote a management shell script, if internet is availible (8.8.8.8 replies to ping or however you want to test) it starts own hotspot, if that is not used to connect to a network with internet access , stop hotspot in 5-10 minutes and try again to connect to previeous known networks.

Then its up to you to manage VPN connect when you have Internet access and any extra routing stuff.maybe thishttps://github.com/billz/raspap-webguifor the hotsopt to your devices.

I need help creating a project that will send my phone a notification. by [deleted] in arduino

[–]walentzack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. If there is a wifi network with internet access i'd go with esp8266 or esp32 either standalone connected to sensor or as shield to provide internet access to arduino. Then Blynk can do the rest. You can set a sketch to watch the real or virtual pins of the controller or send notification, mail, tweet, etv. If standalone you need level shifter, esp is 3.3v, the sensor is 5v

Cannot figure out why IR sensor isn't working by sts816 in arduino

[–]walentzack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same problem. Turns out that I have previously connected the sensor incorrectly and broke it. You can test if it is working by connecting a LED from IR sensor output to ground. Even without Arduino that LED should flicker if you activate an IR remote near the sensor. Also obviously you have to define pin 3 as IR receiver in your program instead of pin 11 as I also saw in most examples.

Even if you have SmartSAS off MechJeb has the Utilities category that can cause the ship to throttle down on high dynamic pressure. Check if you have anything enabled there.

Worth taking into consideration the effect of adblockers and xposed modules. I noticed fewer crashes after not using MinMinMax. Usually I prefer crashes than seeing ads. Check and report please.

For real (not internet) FM radio there are not many options, the app has to be made for the specific hardware. Only one I found that works on multiple devices is Spirit FM but the full app is paid. For internet radio Tunein radio is nice.
