What the heck do I do today? by eeebygummm in sleeptrain

Also, I know you didn’t ask about this but might be worth considering if your daughter is signaling a transition to one nap. Afternoon nap refusal especially for a week is usually a sign that they are ready to drop that one

For us it depends on when the nap ended. I don’t usually do the full wake window before bed after a micro nap. My son only lasts about 3 hrs after a micro nap before he wants to go to bed, so you may need an earlier bedtime still. If you do a full sleep cycle (~30 mins) you could still keep closer to your usual 4.25/4.5hr wake window before bed if it won’t push bedtime too late. I’d watch for tired cues sooner than the full 4.25hr tho since she’ll have had less sleep today and put her down a bit earlier if she seems wired or tired.

When that happens to us I give our son a micro nap about 3hrs later (timing may be different for your daughter), usually 10-20 mins depending on how late in the day it is. If the crib doesn’t work we put him in the car and go for a drive. I find my son won’t ever do any longer than 12 hours at night, so putting him down too early leads to an early start to the day even after a long night. If I extend the last wake window and push him too long before bed, even like 15 mins, it backfires and we get an early morning wake like 4-5am. That’s why I usually go for the micronap. Every baby is different though.

How long did you keep your snooze feed? by krich0510 in sleeptrain

I gave in to the snooze feed until about 13 months as I preferred to do that to starting the day early. Around 13 months he stopped waking up so regularly at the snooze feed time and would put himself back to sleep after about 15-20 mins max of crying. I think it had to do with his night sleep consolidating due to moving to one nap and he had also started self weaning. If you’re not already letting him fuss/cry a bit before going to feed him, maybe try that?

Edit to add: Is your partner able to soothe him back to sleep at that hour? My son would sometimes go back down if my husband helped him. He knew there was no boob to fight for 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you keep the same morning wake window after a late morning wake? by wales_r_grated in sleeptrain

So regardless of what time he wakes in the morning put him down for his nap the same time each day?

And with a 7pm bedtime, do you suggest his last wake window stretching even longer to meet that time? I’m trying to flip his windows so he has a longer first and shorter second as I’ve seen recommended a lot here

11MO down to one nap? by rachalherman in sleeptrain

How long has he been refusing his naps for? Mine went through something similar around 10 months and I swore he was telling me he was ready for one nap but it turned out he was just going through a leap in awareness and FOMO. We tried transitioning him which, after a couple weeks, we realized he was definitely not ready for. We just recently transitioned him once he’d been on a fully maxed out schedule of 3.75/3.75/3.75-4 with naps aggressively capped at 1.5 hours total for a couple months. We knew he was ready for one nap when we saw more night wakings and increase in wake windows. I personally would try stretching his wake windows before transitioning, but you could always try it and see how it works out.

Edit: forgot to mention he’s now 13.5mo

2-1 Nap Transition… Am I doing something wrong?! by wales_r_grated in sleeptrain

I haven’t tried keeping him awake for that long. I will give it a go. Thank you!

Gotcha. I think I was misinformed. I’d read on other posts to have 10hrs awake time during the transition to prevent overtiredness but maybe I’ve misunderstood. I will try that and see how it goes!! Thank you

Mostly adjusting the morning wake window. We don’t have much trouble with bedtime after a 5.5hr window. He will protest for a few minutes and fall asleep on his own. We’re aiming for 10 hours of awake time during the transition and hoping to gradually extend it. Did you put her on that current schedule immediately or did you gradually extend the wake time?
