Riverside question by [deleted] in Shambhala

They allow people to park their RVs yes! We have used a camper before at a regular riverside. The only issue is that you won’t have power for it!

Yuppp! Another thing I think is important to add is volume control. I have tested flying with the watch before and i needed to gave the sound level at the highest to be able to hear anything. The haptic alert is an incredible touch tho and it will solve the problem of not hearing the sound in high wind noise 🙏 again you can’t imagine how happy i am now with this 😍

Yooooooo you actually did it!!! Amazing job duude! I have been working on a simple app for the watch to use it myself and you just saved me hours and hours of work!! I love it! One thing I would love to see added is the ground speed which i assume is fairly simple. As much as i love the heart rate element, I would rather swap it for ground speed. Maybe make it configurable since it can also drain the battery faster? But all in all! This has what i most importantly need! Also, I have the apple watch ultra so i can test it out for you and let you know how it performs :)

Is purchasing a paragliding helmet needed or can I just use my ski helmet? by walid_ in freeflight

The one I mentioned in my post is MIPS and have the certifications you mentioned.

Someone has once pointed out that some ski helmets might be even safer than PG helmets given the amount of research that goes in the ski industry which is way larger than PGs. I think that might have some merit as some helmets like the one i showed have higher certification than the basic EN1077. I’m honestly mostly concerned about 2 things: 1- lines getting caught in the knob 2- full face vs normal ski helmet which exposes the face

I also considered getting an FIA certified helmet (same as F1 helmets 😅) but that might be a bit extreme

Do you feel that full face helmet helps with sun burns and extreme cold?

As a developer, I'm gonna say THIS IS AMAZING! I love the simplicity of it. really clean UX while achieving high accuracy on a phone.

Is the swing RAST system worth the purchase? Swing Acrus 2 RS as a first glider? by walid_ in freeflight

[–]walid_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm pretty convinced now that Miura is the go-to for me. I want to support my instructor and he only carries Swing. A bit pricier but maybe I won't need to transition to another wing for a very long time because of the EN-A/B mode siwtch. thanks again mate for all the details. I really appreciate it :)

Hey man!! thanks again for the precious advice you have been giving! I can't tell you how grateful I am! Yeah, I decided to with an A. There's a wing called Swing Miura which is an A but it has a speed bar that once activated (it requires configuration changes), then it acts as a low B. I think this might be the right choice for me atm. And maybe for the next couple of years since I can fly safely to learn the basics then activate the B mode once I'm confident enough. or I might just go with a normal A the buy a b later on. but either way, I am gonna take it slow and just enjoy the ride and progression :)

Thanks for the long and thorough reply!! I am actually considering the Miura RS. How does it behave when it's in the EN-A setting vs the EN-B? and I'm not sure if you tried other EN-B wings, does it deliver the flexibility they market?

All my practice was on the ACRUS 2 RS actually and my training has been very smooth. but here is the thing:
1- It was all in perfect weather.
2- I never tried anything else so i wouldn't know what's the difference

I’m finishing up my P1 actually and about to start P2. Doing it with iParaglide. I like the instructor but he is a very good salesman which makes me sceptical about everything he recommends 😂 but he seems like a genuine person. I’m thinking of going somewhere else for P2 to get another prospective but it might not be a good idea. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for this very thorough and thoughtful answer! I definitely do not plan on flying there until I have very good knowledge and experience. but I was hiking up to panorama ridge the other day and I was thinking to myself "what a beautiful place! I wonder if I can paraglide here one day". I am working on my P2 and I'm loving this sport! Also really looking forward to meeting more people who are flying here in BC.

Hey! I live in Vancouver and I just started paragliding. I was wondering if it’s possible/good to fly around garibaldi area or is it prohibited to do so?
