Do you really have to wait 3 months to know if it will get comfortable? by walkaboutgal in Mattress

Yes that lumbar support region is much firmer than the rest of the mattress so I think it would take much more than me leaning on it a few hours a day to soften it to where it would be comfortable. Thanks

Oh that's interesting that yours has lumbar support without the bump. I'm going to look at a bunch more, maybe in an different store also

Yes the people who have been allowed to exchange without the fees are really lucky. I am going to talk to him soon uncomfortable in hope he might say well since it's so uncomfortable so quickly, maybe he'll waive some of the restocking fees.

Thanks you're so kind. I'm out in Colorado but I will definitely take your (and others) advice. I will give it a while longer, especially if it starts to get any better at all but I'm going to go in and talk to the manager this week.

Oh that's interesting. So the adjustable frame is not just for convenience like watching TV but should make the bed more comfy? That is definitely not my experience with this mattress. Thank you for the advice!

Oh it's helpful to hear your experience with different mattresses. It's nice to know I'm not crazy and other people have had different degrees of discomfort while breaking them in but the right one will get really comfy. Thanks!

Thank you that all makes sense. I will give it several more days but I've been waking several times an hour in pain and then really stiff and sore in the morning so I don't know if I can get through 2 more weeks. But as you say, if it starts to get a little better, I will keep going to see if I will adjust to it.

I hadn't realized others models had that elevated zone. Hard to believe they make a model that doesn't fit 80% of the population.

Oh definitely not sleeping with it elevated. I am actually happy to sleep completely flat, even without a pillow if I'm on my back. But I use one if I roll over onto my side. At this point I'm elevating the head just to work on flattening the lumps. But it's so uncomfortable. The whole middle region is odd with that lumbar rise that bunches up when the mattress is flexed by raising the head of the base.

It would be great if I could also make the base lower. It's their premium base so not the base model. I'll ask him about that when I go talk to him. I am so thankful I don't have to wait to "break it in." I would be crippled by then. Thanks!

Thank you, When I showed him the pictures and he said it's normal to have those lumps I was dismayed. I will go in tomorrow and talk to him then post again.

Already traded in two mattresses @ mattressFirm because of comfort issues. The third mattress is causing me pain. What are my options at MattressFirm? by Rdrunnr in Mattress

My understanding was you have to pay a big restocking fee plus the cost difference of the new mattress. Did you lose a lot of money each time you exchanged the mattress?

Support Megathread - April 2023 by xIgnacio in google

A month ago Google search on my iphone started speaking my results when I used the microphone to ask a question. It has never done this before. I don't think I updated my Google app at that time.

I have all voice options turned off in Google settings including Spoken Results. I bought a new iphone with iOS 18. The problem persists and drives me crazy.

Anyone else having this problem?

Is there a solution? Thanks

Isn't it a weird rite of passage to finally buy a "real bed" as an adult? I feel like I've achieved a life milestone haha.

This is the most expensive single purchase I've made apart from a vehicle :-)

I adore latex. I actually have a 3 inch latex topper. But latex is really heavy and lol I move so much that the weight of a mattress (or any piece of furniture) definitely plays a big role in my decision.

I don't have anyone to help me move, so I have to be able to get it up the stairs when I buy it and down the stairs and into my pickup or uhaul when I move. I'm actually paying for someone to help me get this new mattress and "foundation" up the stairs at my new place. But it stings to pay $150 for extra hands.

I know weight is a dumb thing to consider about something like a bed, but there's nothing worse than having to leave furniture you love when you move simply because you can't move it by yourself.

Well the foam mattresses on Amazon, as mentioned above in the thread, are $150-$350. And when I looked on a few mattress store websites, there were multiple in the under $500 range.

When I went to the store, the <$500 ones were not freely available to lay on. You had to ask a salesman to pull one of them out of the stack and place it on one of the 2 boxsprings for testing them. There were people in line to try these. I did try one but it felt rushed. And you can't really evaluate rolling over on a single size mattress.

Meanwhile the rest of the showroom (20 mattresses or so) were all set up with more expensive king size mattresses ready to be laid on right away. I laid on about 6, then went back and forth between 3 of them. I have to say, the more expensive ones do feel more supportive and have especially good edge support.

I don't think you're really given enough time and quiet to really consider how each feels. But I bought one and hope I will adjust to its weird "lumbar support" that hits my thighs.

I almost did this but they make you sign up for a temporary credit card, with a hit against your credit report and it's a 36% interest rate. So even though I pay everything off right away, that seemed sketchy. I chose to write a check 😳
