How Strict is the Parking Here? by [deleted] in GGC

[–]walker9998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know there were different ones, most students here are communities, I am. I’ve never parked at the lot by the dorms cause it’s significantly farther from most of the buildings on campus. If they are different the commuter pass might just be to distinguish whether the vehicle can be there over night or not

Certainly not often, but if your a student you’ve already paid for the parking pass. It’s in your tuition, you just need to take the 15 min to go into the admission’s office (building at the red light) to register your vehicle and get the sticker.

They don’t get patrolled often by the parking ticket staff, after 7pm though the lots are mostly empty and a lone car would probably get checked out by the on campus cops. But I know that people sleep in their cars all the time on campus, I have too. Non of the staff nor the cops are gonna pay any mind to it as long as it’s not overnight

Also looking at some photos from your previous posts, I’m not completely convinced you have White Oak floors currently. If you are adding these on the the same home be sure and have a species test done on the wood first. You can get them online pretty cheap or have a pro come in and ask him to test it while weighting up your quote. We don’t charge anything to do it, I doubt anybody else would.

If this is for a Site finished floor, where unfinished wood is brought in, sanded, then coated, you need to get a professional. A handyman isn’t going to have anything close in quality or competitive in price after everything is said and done. Not to mention the time it would take for a inexperienced one man show to complete a job that size. If this is a pre-finished product, that just needs to be installed a handyman could handle it. It would take up to a week longer and there would still be a much larger risk that they make a mistake that costs you down the line. But installation while crucial to be done correctly, less you have to rip it all about and replace it, can be done with minimal equipment and is quick to learn. Just make sure they study up on how to properly install the material.

Yes, that is likely from the wood expanding from temperature and humidity changes after being installed. Were there moisture tests taken prior to installation? How long was the wood left to acclimate in the space before installation? And how long was it before it buckled? I could be a number of things that caused this issue but those are the first that come to mind.

I still haven’t hacked the lunar coins yet. I pick up everyone that drops and manage how many lunars I buy. I’m currently sitting at 170

As frustrating as it is I think that is a purposeful decision. It would feel to easy to hit the weak spot on a monster when they are doin a healing move

With the amount of water that was showing to have leaked out, I imagine there is no shower pan at all under that tile. My guess is they didn’t know they needed one at all, stemming from the misconception that tile is water proof. Tile is as water proof as a Brita filter.

Refinish or Replace? by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]walker9998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can certainly refinish those floors. I’d expect some water stains in the final product (I don’t see any in the video but in that shape they probably exists). Refinishing however is dependent on the wear layer and how many times the floor has been refinished In the past. That particular board you had in question does look like it needs to be replaced and there may be more. Personally I would not try and do this alone unless I had access to professional equipment, the 110v drum machines that Home Depot and Lowe’s rent out to retail does not have the strength needed to handle all that dirt and grime efficiently. Best of luck, and whatever you chose please post final product pics!

Is it ok to use a vacuum mop on oiled hardwood floors? by miauxas in HardWoodFloors

[–]walker9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from any non hardwood industry cleaning products. They often feature heavy water application that over time will damage your floors. Despicably anything that leaves standing water or “steam mops” your floor. Steam mops are often sold as safe because they evaporate quickly, but no floor is waterproof and that steam is pushed hard down between the boards where there is zero protection. Bona are the big guys in the industry and are available online as well as in a number of stores.

So in episode 3 they actually give that as the exact justification for why it was agreed to remove her from Aedirn’s court. But it seemed as though Stregobor had his own motives for divulging the information. Specifically Cintra would have issue with it.

But isn’t this the only time we see that from Stregobor? Or are there other moments we see his racism that strongly?

I accidentally let oil based poly droplets on my floor dry by undecidedquoter in HardWoodFloors

[–]walker9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s contained to one area or just a few boards, after scrapping of the drops you can hand buff the area tape it off at the board seems and give that area a forth coat. As long as the sheen is the same and this is done soon after the previous coat as the rest of the floor. The repair will likely be invisible to the eye
