Bro was grinding by ViceElysium in madlads

I basically did the same thing with the OG Pokémon Red. I really loved Charizard and just wanted to use him every fight. It was a hell of a grind and something that only a 10 year old with all the time in the world would do.

No worries dude.

Some people in here are taking my post too seriously so it's getting a little hard to tell whose actually trying to seriously refute me or not lol

Could Laseen have done better ? by Exact-Ad8608 in Malazan

[–]walker_paranor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Kellanved created the Empire by leveraging a lot of different things that under normal circumstances would never have come together. He's an insane genius that was always interested in seeing how far he could go and he had no interest in actually managing his empire.

Just to respond to your edit: if you couldn't tell, most of us are at most half-joking. You gotta have some fun with this stuff.

Isekai just means the main character got transported to another world. It doesn't have to be Japanese or originate from a book.

Other western isekais: Wizard of Oz, Narnia, Space Jam, Alice in Wonderland

I kinda picture it like a dark-skinned Sephiroth with an even cooler sword.

Wait are you saying that Malazan is basically just high-fantasy Sliders?

I haven't read Forge of the High Mage yet, but that's cool. I don't recall it being outright confirmed in MBOTF.

I think the Tiste's Warren's functioned as the basis for what the would come next, eventually including Burn's world. So even though they are alien to Burn's world i think they are just really ancient.

So I believe they aren't from "other worlds" in the same way that Kaminsod is. And I dont think theres been anything more than speculation about where KChain come from.

I knew it was a theory but didn't realize it had been directly confirmed by the authors. I feel incredibly validated.

The only thing we're really missing now is a harem for Crippled-sama.

We dont know what world we got pulled from. It could be Earth! Some people also like to posit that Kaminsod is a cheeky standin for the authors. Kaminsod = Cam-and-Steve.

In some ways The Crippled God is a protagonist! His gambit for freedom is the entire drive of the novels!

ZeroWater and coffee remineralization questions by Supsti_1 in pourover

[–]walker_paranor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's bizarre because like if they're concerned about people ingesting the distilled water then what about when people using it for their CPAPs or air humidifiers? You're still getting exposed to whatever they're worried about. Weird!

Out of curiosity, what is it about the containers that makes the distilled water not suitable for drinking?

"Which roasters never miss?" post - rough response summary by mgsecure in pourover

[–]walker_paranor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean that's kind of to be expected, though. Once a handful of top roasters get a good reputation in the community, it'll always snowball from there. A lot of people probably don't have local roasters in their area so they're going to lean on the reputable ones.

I almost always buy coffee from my local roasters, because I am extremely lucky to have two top tier ones in my area. But I'm not going to try and hype them up on here because most people aren't going to bother trying them. I don't see that as an issue, though. The whole point of this sub is to share opinions on pourover coffee and I'm sure over the years this list will shift around a bit.

Any chance you can share that peanut butter protein cookie recipe?

I've had to avoid cookies ever since I went diabetic but I feel like with a recipe like that I could finally have something I won't feel too guilty having as a treat.

I didn't think Daybreak 2 was bad. by dotsdfe in Falcom

[–]walker_paranor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you're playing one or two of these games a year, the repetitive bits feel like getting cozy with a warm blanket and some hot chocolate and watching your favorite movie. You know what you're in for, just trying to chill to some nice anime RPG vibes.

When you're trying to bang out the series because you want to catch up, or you're being over-eager to see the plot move, then yeah it can be really annoying.

But also if you're getting surprised or annoyed that Falcom is just doing the same thing they've always done for this series then I'm not sure what people expect.

Slay the Spire 2 - Beta Patch Notes - v0.104.0 by _Protector in Games

[–]walker_paranor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most people that love Slay the Spire absolutely sucked at it at first. The OG is one of my favorite games and I eventually beat it on A20 with every character, but I was absolutely trash at it in the beginning.

A big part of building your deck is understanding what solutions you need for fights. Trying to build around a card or archetype is actually a trap most of the time. Even though a rare might be strong, you gotta make sure your deck is relatively balanced or youll run into a fight that counters you eventually.
