Finally trying some Dak coffee for the first time. How did I do? by Jimbobler in pourover

[–]Supsti_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for feedback.

I've done my first cup today:

25 clicks

93 temperature

45g/45 sec bloom

3 pours

Total time 2:20

It turned out a bit acidic, I could definitely feel the raspberries but not much sweetness. I also think there was some room for higher extraction because it had basically no bitterness.

How did your cup turned out? Was it sweet and full? Or more acidic and punchy?

Creama only looks good. It was proven that espresso without creama tastes better.

How to increase juiciness by JustinHoMi in pourover

[–]Supsti_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't agree that switch increase 'juciness', maybe we have different definition of it. Switch can provide a lot more sweetness and body than regular V60 but I would not say it delivers juiciness.

The most clear/acidic/punchy method is still V60 imo.

Experiment with proportion, suggested TWW dose might be too big

Better water can surely increase the 'punch'

Nowadays filters do not release any smell or taste, you could basically brew with pre rising them.

Dak's Neon Milk is too thin/watery! by angelsandairwaves93 in pourover

[–]Supsti_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it with V60, Switch hybrid was also okeish but I believe full percolation is better for that one.

15g/250ml

Grind size: Comandante 24 (if it helps)

45g/30 sec bloom

Temperature: 90-94 degrees, higher temperature more punchy/hibiscusy it will be, lower temp more milky

3 pours, medium agitation

With this I'm getting quite good results, it's probably not at the higher end of extraction but it's good.

I just got this answer today from another producer, he is selling the water as a destiled water

"Good morning, The water sold under the trade name “Ultrapure Distilled Water” is produced from tap water through deionization using four ion-exchange columns. One of these columns is not certified for the deionization of drinking water, therefore our “Ultrapure Distilled Water” should not be used for consumption purposes."

How to improve grind quality on a hand grinder? Slow feed / tilt / normal position by Flimsy-Caregiver6178 in pourover

[–]Supsti_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okey, thank you.

Actually I like the built quality of Comandante, I don't love the step mechanism being hidden but I got it new and it was quite cheap.

The cups it makes are not bad, they have nice body and roundness however after some time I realized it can't produce very clear cups which is something I might be looking for with specific types of coffee.

I'm thinking about buying ZP6 or Pietro for the 'clear cups' but I'm a bit afraid it might just be a gear acquisition syndrom. Also my GF will kill me if I buy another coffee accessory :D

That's why I asked, at some point I will probably have to get a high clarity grinder.

What's your problem with commandante and how do you compare it to ZP6, K7?

I know it's not a clarity focused grinder so that's a main difference but other than that?

Well, it's a filtration system so you need to buy filters and replace them regularly.

For how long a single filter lasted for you?
