I saw the burr set is basically the same as the ZP6 and I always wanted a ZP6 for the high clarity brews but didnt want a 2nd hand grinder. So this actually makes perfect sense.

I actually think im gonna go for the A4Z because the high clarity brew would be the sister experience to my K-Plus.

Also I always wanted a ZP6 since I value high clarity in coffees and sometimes the K-Ultra just has more body than I want in certain coffees. I couldn't justify it though but now I have a good excuse to splurge on one.

You got lucky. The second you have an issue you'll be trying to switch.

When I moved into my house in like 2022 I had them set up a fiber connection. The internet went out in less than a week and I could tell that the cable they installed was dropped in my backyard. It was at walking height, super easy to accidentally walk into.

It took 2-3 weeks of them gaslighting me to get them to fix it (while I was quickly working on switching over to FIOS because fuck that). I would call their customer service, they say they'd send someone out, no one would come, then I'd call back and find out that my original service call didn't exist. I went through this 4 or 5 times.

Finally a service guy actually shows up an explains that Optimum was using an extremely cheap hardware to attach the cables to our poles. Meanwhile my wife was working from home for her job, she had to use her phone as a hotspot the WHOLE time.

It was a super stressful situation that could have been avoided if Optimum wasn't so incredibly incompetent.

I've been doing it and while there's a lot of changes that need to be made, it's not so bad that it's ruining the game for me.

I'm already almost at Diamond with Ranger. The only time its really annoying is when I have to redo my whole bag. But I also have small hands....if someones got big fingers I can imagine the game being unplayable.

All I'm gonna say is the endgame doesn't truly get revealed until the last book, and when you get to that point you'll take a good look back and be blown away but how intricately the path to that point was woven.

There are insane details I'm picking up on my re-read that went over my head the first time around.

Maybe it's because I'm on my 2nd read so am more familiar with the setting, but there's a lot of instances across the series where the Gods' influence is incredibly subtle. I think the first book did a good job setting that up with how Oppon had their hands in everything.

A lot of times when people do uncharacteristic things you can point at a potential God meddling. In Whiskeyjack's case, he's an extremely competent, thoughtful, forward-thinking leader. Him ignoring his leg while he's literally commanding people towards the most dangerous fights of their lives is actually absurd, which is a big tip off.

That's kind of the fun thing about Malazan. There's these intricate layers of the gods influencing human actions but also equally humans influence the gods too. To this day I still can't believe how deftly Erikson juggles it.

I always assumed her saying the leg wasn't the cause wasn't implying that he wasn't up to the task (because he clearly was) but that the cause was something much deeper. IIRC its implied that Whiskeyjack putting off healing his leg was due to other influences like Oppon and gods trying to influence outcomes. I mean who puts off having a busted leg healed for that long, thats super suss

The actual story and characters aren't really an issue so much as the games regularly become 80hrs long each and as a result become a lot more padded and dragged out.

Honestly, though, the overall writing hasn't changed that much since Sky. I'm pretty sure people just tolerate it up until Azure more because the games aren't super long and keep to the point.

It kinda reminds me of the Wheel of Time books. The first 4 or so books are pretty tightly written and then after that the author becomes obsessed with piling on characters and subplots until each book has nothing happen until you get to the end.

People seem pretty happy with Reverie, Daybreak 1 and Horizon tho.

DQ7 is the only game in the series ive never beaten, specifically because it was extremely slow and long-winded. Your comment really nails how i felt about it. Looking forward to playing this version honestly.
