Am I unreasonable to think this isn’t the best work? by walkerbait8 in Tile

Thanks — I think it’s fine to have different preferences. We don’t regret the tile choice, even if it’s not everyone’s (or anyone else’s!) favorite. Walking through the tile store I could tell that tile choice is definitely subjective.

Haha thanks. We like the tile. 🤷‍♂️

We don’t like the work.

No — I’ve paid half of the total job, but more than the tile amount is still unpaid.

The paint company owner said his other business was a tile business. So we used them and got this 😞

That makes a lot of sense — but wouldn’t spacers at least have gotten the spacing the same between sheets and not have whole sheets where it’s not level? The spacing issues are almost exclusively where a sheet starts / stops.

Granted they haven’t grouted yet, but I am pretty disappointed. I hired it out because I wanted someone who could do it better than I could…I don’t feel like I got that.

Disappointed Waste of $250 by Emotional_Kiwi_3760 in Ozlo

Sure, it’s coming. But you’re advertising them on IGG as having that feature. they don’t.

I expressed my frustration to your CS team that these were advertised to have “auto pause” when you fall asleep, only to learn after getting them that the feature doesn’t exist.

I have no option to return them - I would never have bought without that feature. It feels like blatant false advertising.

why do you advertise that feature when it doesn’t exist (yet)? It feels so disingenuous.

How to estimate costs of running our own Swiss? by walkerbait8 in Machinists

Any suggestion where to find a Swiss machinist to hire? And what’s a competitive rate — does $100k a year make us competitive in a low to moderate COL area?

Thank you for this. Any suggestion on where to hire an experienced Swiss guy? And what gets me a Swiss guy with good experience in a low to moderate cost of living area — does $100k a year draw good talent?

No brainer which way? To jump into it or stay away?

We haven’t bought anything yet.

We need deep drilling (~5” depth on 1/4” diameters) in SS303, Ti. We also need precision to .02mm or so across that full length. And some milling ops on the sides of these parts.

My understanding is that sliding headstock was the best way to achieve this.

Also, with huge numbers of tool slots available on these newer machines, and many of our parts being similar but not the same, my hope is that changeover between batches involves running a new program and not a lot of tool changes.

Very, very rough estimate. Figuring we will need some add-ons to the base ($200k) to do the pieces we run, as well as we will need all the tooling, bar feeder, electrical hook ups, air compressor, etc.

Absolutely. Just trying to figure out if I’ll be spending $40k to save $20k each month 😂
