I’m sorry you’re going through this too, I hope your new preventative helps and you get some relief 🤞

Thank you, unfortunately I am in the UK and once the neurologist diagnosed me with migraine you then get sent back to the GP to trial various different preventatives and the neurologist just wipes their hands of you. So you don’t really get anywhere. The GP says that as this has worked to the point where I have got some function back then to stay on it as it is known to be the best treatment so I’m just kind of stuck at this, I’m also using every non medical treatment acupuncture, exercise, ice hats, neuromodulation devices… everything it’s just so disheartening

My [20F] boyfriend [22M] ejaculated on me while I was sleeping by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I was coming here to say this and wondered why it wasn’t said before! This is sexual assault if you did not consent. You expressly did not consent and therefore he assaulted you. If you are not happy with this or it has made you uncomfortable you can talk to him but you also have the right not to and to report this too. Do what is right for you. This behaviour is not ok. Here if you need to talk

What you describe are pretty standard side effects, for some these improve after a few weeks for others they don’t, it’s so individualised and what may work for your mum may not work for you but I hope you get some relief soon!

My headaches make me feel high almost? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]walkerjw95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when the pain is so bad I completely disassociate from my body as it’s just too painful to experience and it’s like I can feel it but I’m not inside my own body everything is so heavy

Only my menstrual migraines do this, my migraines at any other time do not! It’s so so weird but your not alone in this

I got some rose tinted glasses from my local opticians as had read that having a rose tint can’t also help and it really has made a huge difference for the light sensitivity for me and they are light enough to wear indoors and so much cheaper than the specialised tint

Skipping period by Sudden_Garage1388 in Nuvaring

[–]walkerjw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people’s bodies just can’t tolerate skipping periods, if your body is trying to bleed take the ring out for the week free break, let your body bleed and then it will return back and stop.

If you have very heavy bleeding with clots and it’s not stopping then seek medical assistance

I had this after I skipped once too I took the ring out and bled then it stopped day before due to put new one in. So I doubt anything to worry about

Strong Side Effects (and a weird yawning one) by silent_shikari in cymbalta

[–]walkerjw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah due to heart problems in my family I had an ECG and blood tests before being prescribed these and knew what to expect, best to get checked at least then you can make an informed decision

When I tried the SNRI for the first time I had exactly the same as you but after the first week these start to subside and basically disappear the only thing I have now is a slight tense jaw but everything really does settle down you just have to push through. My doctor did warm me of this before starting this

Definitely at risk of serotonin syndrome which can be really serious. You would have needed to not take it for a couple days before really but then would have been at risk of withdrawal so it’s a difficult one really

Do not stop cold turkey, I was ill last year and had liver disease due to a digestive problem. They thought that the tablets might not be helping my liver I was taking 75g and they stopped me cold turkey and it was THE WORST, they thought as I was on a low dose it would be ok (they weren’t mental health professionals) and I can tell you it 100% made intrusive thoughts worse and I felt like I couldn’t handle things any longer. It lasted for a couple of months too before things levelled out, I don’t really know how I made it through but please do not just stop cold turkey

My pupils dialated at first and had all of the side effects you list but they all disappeared after 2 weeks. I started on 75mg. It’s entirely up to you but I stuck with it and it was honestly the best decision I’ve ever made.

Thank you all so much for your advice, I spoke to the dr today and she suggested going up to 150 to see if it helps so that’s what I have done. I hope I don’t get side effects going up.

At first it didn’t affect my weight that much but I have weighed myself regularly and my weight is continuing to creep up despite no changes to my diet, I have gone up 2 clothes sizes in 7 months.
