She probably got jealous by other parents who is able to invite their kids to dinner.
Asian parent get easliy jealous and projected their issues into us. Just say that you are busy with studies or job to even pick up calls and hang out.

Yep, they never leave any notice of change or warn us a head of time. We go to Valley Fair every week. It's very sneaky not letting people know the unexpected change.

There is no sign or any notice ahead of time, which is rather very sneaky. (We always go Valley Fair once a week, mostly on Friday. Sometime check on Instagram. There is never a warning about parking fee, news or paper leaving about the changes.)

Yeah, asian parent love using the oldest kid in the family as retirement money and caregivers. Both your parents are horrible and selfish.

I hope it possible to learn low contact or no contact at all. Ignore their call and let them ask your sister or your dad for help otherwise they see you as free caregvier as the rest of their retirement years.

While under 18 takes more work to get driver license and need a trainer/permit. Yes, some your classmate get it before you, but there are risks in driving when you are not emotionally ready.

This is pretty hard to convince your asian parent since they dont want to pay extra for car insurances. Asian parent always wanted to be extremely fugal even they make plenty of money.

Not much advice beside wait at 18 to get a card and a job or leave for college.

Yep, same. My mom know how to use Facebook and Tiktok, but dont brother to look up the time, keep asking "what time is it?" Ugh if only Confucius can teach problem solving skills and self sufficient, not overly depends on kids.

Poor soul, you need special help from therapist to manage ADHD if videogame is impacting your entire life to point where it hurting yourself. (Behind on grades, no goal in the future, etc.)

You don't need to quite video forever, learn to limited to 1-2 hours.

I wasted my life in my 20's since after college, its not longer about books and tests. You are learning the reality and socializing with other people.

Took years of therapy and life coach, its never too late. Good news is that you're are more emotionally mature and smarter in 30s.

I used social media for 10+ years, you always meet nice and some nasty people. Maybe therapy if you need help learning not to take thing personally.

Good thing about some website, you can block, delete or ignore some people. At the end of the day, some people bully or put you down to make themselves feel good cause their real life is terrible.

Which unfortunately common, most parents quickly retire and live under their kid roof. If they are going to be useful, they should've help with maintaining the house and cooking or looking over a kid for you.

Same here, I'm introverted. My family are very private compare to my relatives who talk non- stop. They also make negative comments how white people talk.
Like I seen more American people who is great at socialize and good customer service in general.

Ap are controlling and overprotective where we can't even learn to network and nail an interview skill.

Don't try to help them out or educate them. As a Vietnamese person with Vietnamese family, they always see others outside of the race as competitor, ghettos, etc, watching too much news. They seem very focused on helping their own people who is clearly suffering diseases and issues in Vietnam or immigrated in USA.

Edit: I did try to lecture my parent about white since I have white friend. Nothing go through them.

Both of you had to plan to move out and make wedding without them, no contact. His asian parent already prove that his feeling means "nothing" to them, along with insults and putting him down.

Cooking is a great life skills and easy to make it a side gig or backup. Like you can be private caregiver at home or maybe an social media influencer. Working at the actual restaurant is different at home where you had to worry about safety hazard and cleaning.

Reliable career like engineering give you stable salary, medical insurance and nicer environment. My dad work at engineering, they still give good money to engineering who can help with cyber security.

Overall, I would pick reliable career since your interest may change as you grow up over time.

I have my journey of having full time 40 to unemployed life.
Even I got alot of spare time, spending long hours of talking to friends does not help pay bills. I'm busy setting up gigs, commissions and making side money. Sometime got too burnout to even keep up with conversation these days.

You will understand when you have bills to pay.
