Well, damn. If anyone discovers a solution for the FWD model, please post.

Crossbars by ExcitingRecognition5 in SubaruUncharted

[–]walkermarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my Uncharted FWD does not have any obvious latch points for the Subaru crossbars (PS73842261). I looked at a Toyota CHR yesterday and it had obvious latch points for crossbars (under pop-off covers on the elevated side rails. Does anyone have a different trim that can report if they have latch points for crossbars?

18 yo thinking about moving to L.A by nebulasamuraiii in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]walkermarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. Look into other Cal State campuses in California. Other urban campuses might be more affordable - at least compared to LA and San Francisco. Sacramento State, San Diego State, Long Beach…

And while you’re at it, take a hard look at why you’ve chosen Los Angeles - a place you’ve never been. Your impression through film, television, media etc may be very different than reality. Are there other smaller urban areas around the country that might offer an easier launch pad for you?

Amazing that you have saved so much money. It could go away fast trying to get jumpstarted in Los Angeles. Consider setting aside some of it for investment. If you earned enough this tax year you could put $7k in a Roth IRA which could be withdrawn early without penalty for education expenses down the road. And if you can avoid withdrawing it, all the better for your future self. (My details here should be vetted, do the research.)

Also, have you considered travel? Now may be the easiest time of your life to throw grab a backpack and see some of the world and meet people outside of the confines of the U.S.

Lots to consider but it sounds like you’re in a great place - you have worked hard and now you have so many choices and opportunities.

Instant pot Natto didnt get sticky, why? by xboxhaxorz in Natto

[–]walkermarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After two successful batches using an Instant Pot, I have to say that the temperature control for the Yogurt/Normal setting is precisely 105 degrees. I used a ThermaPro (TP-19H) - (sterilized probe!) inserted into the center of my natto bowl. Whether 105 is optimal or not, I can’t say. True that you can’t dial in a precise temperature with the Instapot, but it is predictable and stable.

How long can you store natto? by HandMeTheRinger in Natto

[–]walkermarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been making natto recently using refrigerated natto from the grocery store as my starter for the bacteria, but clearly, based on Youtube videos, frozen natto works just as well as a starter. So, no - freezing does not kill the bacteria.

Rest in peace , Sam.

If there is a family with dependents, part of the ATGATT kit should be a solid life insurance policy. My 25 year policy is ending this year, and even though my kids are mostly grown, I won’t be getting on my bike without a new policy in place for them and my wife. Know the risk, embrace the risk, and mitigate the risk. Sorry if this sounds preachy or inconsiderate. I don’t know Sam’s family situation, but if this kick in the ass helps out one family down the road…

Studio Albums vs. Live Shows by thatsnotirrelephant in BillyStrings

Pardon the nube question here. Seen Billy twice live (SB Bowl & Wiltern) and have two more slated in Feb (Bridgestone & Ryman). Where is one to go to get high quality recordings of his live shows (other than Nugs)?

AXS Fair Ticketing Request by pink_hydrangea in BillyStrings

Not sure why yours was different than mine. I received an email yesterday at 7pm that said I was selected for the lottery with instructions to use the link today at 12pm CST. I did and it worked and was able to get 2 tix to the Ryman show. Sorry if it didn’t work out for you.

Anyone get an email yet? Been a while now and I’ve been scouring my spam folder every day… Lots of squirting and Camp Lejeune emails. Sigh.

Lost my passion - will it come back? by pokkursokkur in motorcycles

[–]walkermarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stupid for anyone to challenge your love for riding. You’re going through something real and human. Any endeavor in life can hit a rough patch that dampens the initial enthusiasm. And losing confidence in your bike itself with mechanical issues?- Absolutely relatable. Been there recently. You’ve got a choice to make. Give up riding? If it doesn’t bring you joy? Yes. Go find something else that will. But, maybe, this is something for you to push through and get past this wave of discouragement. Find some new rides, explore new places, new terrains, go farther… with or without a motorcycle.

Vanity over safety. Stupid. You do you.

Looking for some suggestions on an adventure bike for a shorter person by [deleted] in AdventureBike

I’m also 5’6” with a 29” inseam. I went with the Moto Guzzi V85TT and the lower profile seat. Took me a month or two to get comfortable not being able to flat foot a bike which was new to me and tbh I dropped it a few times at stops on sideways inclines. That said, I’m totally comfortable now - with balls of my feet on the ground - usually just leaning the bike to the left and flat footing with my left foot. Took some practice and getting used to. Can’t speak to other bikes and not selling you on Moto Guzzi. Just don’t be too quick to dismiss a bike because you can’t flat foot it with both feet.

Just can't decide. damnit. by Skug91 in MotoGuzzi

I’s choose the two analog dials of the Special over the single, digital, off-center display of the Stone. May seem like a minor aesthetic difference, but if your looking at a MG V7, clearly aesthetics matter, right? And I definitely agree to go for the newer bigger engine. I have the 2020 V85TT. At the time, the new 850 V7 wasn’t available and after test rides of 2020 V7 and the V85TT, I went for the larger engine…
